6 Chapter 6: Upgrades and Chaos

Miku starts to ponder before making a choice.' well, as they say, you got to spend money to make money, so here goes nothing.' Miku then selects one of the upgrades, and a prompt appears as a voice again speaks in her mind. *Would you like to spend 15BM on forest goblin eyes? Y\N*

Miku sighs briefly, then selects yes and instantly. The small tunnel that was previously only filled with the occasional sound of dripping water suddenly fills with a harsh high, pitched screech.

As the upgrade is happening, Miku, who is curled into the fetal position, feels that not only does it burn as if she got sprayed in the face with pepper spray but also that her eyeballs itch too.

Meanwhile, deep in the cave, Miku's screech reaches the very depths. An ominous pair of yellow eyes open, then another and another as tens of child-like creatures slowly start to awaken and screech at one another before gathering their makeshift weapons and heading off into the cave.

After a few minutes, the pain and itching finally stopped and gave Miku a chance to breathe.' Ok, that sucked. I mean, I knew I was going to be changing a part of me, but that was the worst.' taking a few seconds to calm down, Miku notices something odd.

' Hey, how come I'm still seeing in my original view? Wasn't it supposed to change? Don't tell me it didn't work!' she starts to panic and brings up her status and starts looking through it, but nothing has changed except her Biomass total.

' This can't be happening. Don't tell me I took all that pain for nothing.' Luckily, at that moment, Miku noticed that before, she didn't need to blink but now, although she doesn't have to, she can if she wants.

Miku gulps, slightly nervous, and slowly tries blinking, and suddenly, the world around her changes. What was originally a world of blue now looks like a somewhat off-grey-coloured cave which makes Miku slowly smile.

' Hahaha, yes, I no longer am stuck to that weird world of blue I can finally see.' Miku finally can look around correctly and only notices a few things of note, one being something she had already figured out. The first is that she is indeed covered in a sticky liquid that is slowly drying.

Miku knows that the viscous liquid covering her is totally some dark red blood.' Gross, when did I get this covered in blood? I mean, I know this body isn't one for table manners but Damm.' Miku rolls her eyes at her corny joke before continuing her observations.

Miku keeps looking at her new body and whistles.' well, dang, I thought I would look different, but this was not what I was expecting.' Miku notices that her skin is an ashen white colour but is also not really skin. As she slowly slides her fingers along her arm, she can tell it has some slight firmness to it, and it's not scale-like either.

Miku also looks at her tail and can see that it's sleek and less stiff than the rest of her skin, as well as having a nasty blood-drenched spike at the end. Miku is slowly getting used to her new body's look and feels and decides she needs to stop getting sidetracked and heads out of her tunnel once again.

Miku is once again hit by the earthy smells as she walks out, but this time she notices something completely new, and that's the colours and sights she can see. The trees that were blue before are now a just slightly faded colour. The brown tree trunks are just a bit more dull shade of brown the green leaves are the same, a lighter colour green.

Miku takes in the surrounding for a bit and sighs.' Huh, I guess those goblins are a bit colour blind. I mean, I assume so because I think the colours should definitely look more vibrant than they are. I'm just saying I'm in a forest, not some lazy bum's unkempt lawn.'

Just then, Miku's instincts kick in, telling her that something dangerous is coming. Still, before she could dodge instinctually, something hits her hard, sending her flying off into the distance a good 10 feet before her body rolls on the ground to stop eventually.

Miku slowly gets up off the ground, her arms and legs slightly wobbly. She shakes her head before thinking.' Damm, what was that? Did I get hit by a bloody truck? Oww!' Miku looks around to see what hit her and notices a massive number of the goblins glaring at her before they charge again. The one in the front holding a club is the first to get close, and it swings at her again.

Miku barely dodges the blow this time, and she turns around using her tail like a whip and slams it into the goblin sending it a few feet back. The goblin snarls and charges Miku again, spooking her and causing Miku to start bolting it into the forest.

As Miku runs from the goblins weaving through trees and other obstacles, she notices something crazy as she turns her head back to the goblins. One goblin near the back doesn't see the bushes by their left rustling, and out from the brush comes a giant boar that guts the goblin on its massive sawtooth tusks.

Miku internally screams as now not only are the goblins chasing her the boar is chasing both parties.' What the fuck is going on today? Ugh! this is not my day today!!' Miku then picks up speed as she weaves through the forest, the dry leaves and twigs crunching under her foot and the sounds of snarls and screeches resound throughout the forest.
