Fateful Encounter Part I

It was been two days since the group left and Colt has been extremely bored.

'Maybe I should go visit them.' He thought as he just wanted something to pass the time.

'Maybe its to early, they just left after all...' Colt decided to wait for a bit longer before visiting, he understood well that they have their own lives and a newly born baby to take care of.

Colt wanted something to do, and he had a small flashback towards the city they walked towards before they said their goodbyes, a big stone wall surrounding the city. Colt thought the wall looked kinda cool, it was huge. It was at least 25 meters in height. Colt started wondering why it was that high and came to the conclusion that its probably to defend against bigger monsters that lives in this forest.

'Maybe I can build myself a wall here?' He asked himself as he looked around his small grass field.

'Nah, this field is too small, the wall wont fit here' He thought and decided against it but not before long he got a brilliant idea.

'What if i just remove some trees and make the grass field even bigger?' An idea he thought was brilliant and as he walked outside he flew up, 100 meters into the sky and started imagining how his castle wall would look like, how big it needed to be and more.

Right now the grass field was like a football field, around 50 x 110 meters with his house somewhere in the middle. He raised his hand as he was gonna remove all the trees needed to make it bigger before he stopped moving his hand and got another excellent idea.

'What if I do everyone manually?' He thought as he created a woodcutters axe in his hand and landed on the ground and started walking towards the woods.

'If I do this manually, I will have something to do for weeks!' His plan was a brilliant way to spend time without getting bored.

So Colt started working on his new idea manually for the first time in a very long time. He began by cutting enough trees to make the open area around 400 square meters before he stopped cutting wood. He used his power to remove all stumps and roots and then made the ground full of grass and flowers.

He then put all the trees that he'd cut into another dimension that he created, he got this idea from the skill [Item Box], but this dimension is as big as Colt wants it to be. He thought it might come in handy later, after all he had many ideas floating in his head at the moment. He then began making a few designs of castle walls with his ability to get one that looked good and was sturdy. After some time with trials and errors he found a design he liked and began looking for a place to mine all the resources he would need to make it.

After finding some areas with a lot of resources he thought it would be a shame to ruin the landscape by mining it. So he just decided that he'll make the stone bricks that the wall will use with his powers and just place them manually, that should work well. But then he thought that some bigger monsters might appear near this area, and just stone would not hold against those, but he still wanted it to have the stone textures, because it looked good.

He made all the bricks he was gonna use and filled the inside with pure mithril and then had the outer layer of stone. He made it out of another worlds stone as it was around 4 times sturdier, then he started to manually build his castle wall around field. He thought that he should use a wooden gate at the entrance, because he thought it would look better. But wood is easy to destroy so he just made it out of Elder Wood, its almost as hard as mithril so that should be fine.

After some time he was finally done with the wall. The stone he used was very bright, like marble, he made some patterns he thought looked cool on the walls as he built it. He wanted a symbol, so he thought of making the Lion's head that Alexander had, but decided against it since that was their house symbol and he wanted this to be his, not theirs. When the wall was done, he started building a house inside for the group if they ever come back. He made the house with 4 bedrooms, 1 master bedroom for the couple, a smaller child's bedroom for Lucy when she grows up and then 2 other rooms for the knights.

'I wonder what they'd say when they see this.' Colt wondered and could not wait to show them his work. But first he had to work a bit more on his own house, it looked way to small compared to the wall and the other house. After fixing up his own house with a second floor and a basement he made stone pathways from both houses and a bigger one from the gateway of the wall.

'I think i'm done for now, should I go see them now?' he asked himself before deciding that it would be fun to see them again. Colt teleported to the area where he said goodbye to them last time and started walking towards the town.

The wall was as majestic as before. standing at at least 25 meters tall, the gate was huge. Why did they have to make the gate that big, what did they expect would walk in and out of that? he thought to himself as he walked towards the city. Outside the city you could see several carriages going in and out and by the gate was some kind of line. It looked like a line for people who didn't have a carriage. Colt decided to stand in that line, he didn't want to break any of Alexander's rules he has in the city, so that's what he did.

After almost an hour in line it was finally his turn.

"Identification?" The guard asked as he looked at Colt and then back at his paper he was holding.

"Eh, I don't have one?" Colt asked, a bit confused. Maybe he should have asked Alexander and Lilliana before they left for one.

"I see, come with me then mister...?" The guard said as he looked back up on Colt and guided him to another guard who was sitting by a desk nearby.

"Colt, the names Colt." Colt answered him and followed the guard.

"OK, Mister Colt, this one will help you with what you need to get a temporary ID." The guard said as he pointed towards the sitting guard.

"Hey Mack! Take care of this one for me!" he said with a slightly louder voice than before. The guard then went back to his position and took care of the next one in line.

Colt went towards the sitting guard and took a seat in front of him and waited for the man to finish his paperwork. After around 5 minutes the man was done and took another piece of paper and then looked towards Colt.

"Sorry about that and thanks for patiently waiting. This paper here will be a temporary ID for you, I will help you fill it out. But when you get in, you should go get a permanent ID as this one will only work for 3 days before expiring." The guard explained and took a second break before continuing.

"You can get a permanent ID from either the City Hall or the Adventures Guild." The guard Mack mentioned before he started asking Colt some questions.

"First off, i'll need your name and where you're currently living." He asked as he took a pen and put some inc in it waiting for the man to answer him.

"My name is Colt, I currently reside in Zedrom forest." Colt said as the guard started typing the information down, but stopped slightly when he said Zedrom forest and looked up towards Colt and looked at him for a few second and then continued writing down the information.

"How long do you plan to stay here?" Mack asked as he just finished up with the previous information.

"A few weeks atleast." Colt answered as the last time he spent a few weeks with Alexander and the others he had a very good time, so at least a few weeks sounded enough to him.

"OK, alright. Here you go. Make sure to get yourself and ID right away if you're going to stay longer than 3 days. If you are caught with an expired temporary ID and don't have a valid one, you will be fined with 5 silver coins, if you can't pay the silver you will have to work in the mines for a bit to pay it back" The guard said as he gave him a rolled up scroll, which was now his temporary ID.

"Alright, could you point me in the direction of the City Hall then?" Colt asked and the guard gave him some directions before sending him off into the city.

The city streets were full of people, the main road was at least 10 meters wide and on each side were different kind of buildings, inns, shops and further up he could see stands on the street, he decided to check out what the people were selling. He walked slowly to each stand looking at almost everything that caught his eyes before someone blew past him. It was a young woman with bright red hair running past him and then stopped at a stall around 30 meters ahead of him.

'That's.... No, she's to young to be Lilliana' Colt first thought he met Lilliana, but this woman was around 15-16, Lilliana was 24.

He looked at the woman talking to the man in the stand, he was selling some kind of bread. The woman payed the man for a small piece of bred before the woman looked towards Colt and her bright smile froze for a second before she had, what looked like fear in her eyes.

'Eh? Why is she looking at me light that? What did I do?' Colt was confused by the look she gave him.

The woman stared for only a few seconds before running off again. Colt of course got curious and thought he'd ask her why she was so afraid. He started walking in the direction she ran before he ended up outside a big building with a symbol of two swords crossing. He heard the people outside talking and got the clue that this might be the Adventures Guild. He thought that as he was already here, he might as well get his ID from here. He walked inside and as he was gonna open the door, the red haired woman came out and saw him again before having the same weird look in here eyes and ran off in the distance.

No idea of what was going on, Colt decided to ignore it for now and walked into the Guild and walked towards one of the where a line was and stood himself there and waited for his turn.

In a mansion somewhere in the city Rimebell a young teenage woman with bright red hair was laying in her bed in the morning. She laid there on her back before she slowly opened her eyes revealing a pair of different colored eyes, one was bright emerald green while the other was bright blue. The she laid there with her eyes open for a couple of seconds before stretching her body to wake herself up.

[Ceiling]. This was the first thing she saw when she woke up, she looked around the room and many things popped up. [Lamp], [Reinforced Wooden Door] and more. This was one of her skills she was born with called [Appraisal]. It was an ability that would show her information of any item she looked at. She could control it of course but since she heard about skills leveling up, she has been using it everyday since she found out at the age of 5. But the skill hasn't leveled up even once since, but that is because this is a [Legendary Skill] which according to my parents are super super rare and that she must never let anyone know she has a legendary skill and that if anyone asks out this skill if it gets out, she should describe it as an [Unique Skill].

When she was younger she didn't know why, but as she grew older she understood. Everyone knows of the orb [Orb of Appraisal] which shows people their levels, stats and skills. Mine is almost exactly like that, but I don't have to use mana to use mine and I can use it from over 100 meters away on anything I see. But not only that, it also shows an extra detail that the [Orb of Appraisal] doesn't show, [Job:]. During my childhood i wanted to know more about it and why it showed someones job. One day I was playing as usual in our courtyard and when i appraised one of the guards that i always see, his job had changed from [Job: Guard] to [Job: Paid Kidnapper], i got scared and ran to tell my father.

Later that guard was caught trying to kidnap me, but because i told my father he was able to prepare for it. After this dad told me to always appraise the guards and people i see because it can show those she could trust or not trust if they were not around.

After a few minutes of sitting half a sleep on the bed she jolted up and quickly got dressed and ran down stairs. By the dining table in the main room was my father listening to reports from Vez. Vez is one of fathers most trusted knights, when i was young i was scared of him, because it said he was a demon. But later my father explained about demons and monster demons and even told me not to tell anyone else. I waited for the other people to leave before i approached the dining table.

"Good morning, Young Lady" Vez said as he bowed towards me. I hate it when he treats me like a servant, he is family, Gilbert to! But he only does it when others are around, so i forgive him for how, hehe.

"Moooriiingg" i said as i stood and looked at my father with high expectations. Today was the day after i turned 16. Dad promised me he would allow me to register at the adventurers guild today. I couldn't do it the day i turned 16 because mom wanted to celebrate all day with me.

"*sigh* I did promise.... But if you take any assignment you must first talk to me and your mother, and take Vez with you!" Dad said in a firm voice and looked me in the eyes. I appraised him as i always do when i see him.

As impressive as always... i wonder how he managed to get that high [Swordsmanship Skill]. Dad always told me how it was almost impossible for humans to reach 100 in any [Basic Skill], but he is getting close to it, and he's still young. According to father after level 50, every 10 levels after that is extremely hard. He has been stuck on 79 for almost 2 years now.

"Yeeees! I promise. Even if i didn't you'd get Vez in my shadow anyway, right?" She said as she giggled and looked towards Vez. I started took a piece of bread that was on the table and was going to start running towards the Adventurers Guild when someone blocked my path. *gulp*

"Where do you think your running off to this early?" My mom was there... ouch.

"Sit yourself down by the table and eat your breakfast before you run off!] She said and pointed towards the table. Its impossible to win arguments against mother, so i just sat down and quickly ate my breakfast.

"Vez." Father said and nodded towards Vez and he used a named called [Silence] which makes a sort of barrier around us so no one can hear from outside, even if there was a Magical Tool to listen in to people inside, it would be silenced.

"Lucy, has it leveled up yet?" Father asked, he meant [Appraisal] of course.

"No father, still at level 1. I wonder why its so hard to level up, and i wonder what happens when it does." I answered as i ate my breakfast a bit slower, because i knew what was going on.

Every few years we do this, it first happen when i was 5 and used a [Orb of Appraisal] for the first time and told them my skills and stats. After that father made sure to always have Vez present with Silence, apparently my skills and some of my attributes were insane for a child. After a few years of using [Appraisal] I understand what they mean. My stats when i was 5 years old was this:

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

When i told them out these skills, father quickly got Vez and made him use the spell before telling him and Gilbert my stats. Apparently my [Perception] was super high, it was close to what scouts have and i was an untrained 5 year old girl. Then my Luck. Apparently [Luck] is the highest anyone has had recorded. The highest before mine was someone who had 18 Luck. But having more than double that was unheard off. So dad made me promise to never tell anyone about it. But when i got to my skills their jaws dropped.

Some skills are inherited, but is less than 1 in 10 million chance to get 1 skill from each parent. Both my parents had 2 skills each and i got both of them, on top of that i got 2 other, One being unknown and still is. Its an [Unique Skill], we could determine that because of the levels. But when i told them i had [Appraisal], they all got scared, but were also very proud at the same time. It was a super rare [Legendary Skill], so no wonder they freaked out. Dad also made me promise to not tell anyone because it could make people want to take me away from them.

The other skill is still unknown, but father said it might have something to do with Gods. He said it might be a Blessing from a God. He said that he was almost 100% sure that [Appraisal] came from a god. They've told me stories of when they met one, i still love hearing about it. They stayed with him for 15 days and once before they left, he asked to hold me, which was only a baby then. He held me for a few seconds before he pointed his finger towards my forehead and a bright light came out of his finger. That's why he think i got it from him, apparently previously he had made a [Orb of Appraisal] and father thinks that's what gave him the idea.

I still want to meet him and thank him for saving my parent, Vez and Gilbert that time. He also saved me and even gave me a legendary skill, i have to thank him.

"Alright, tell me your current stats, Lucy." Father said and i told him my current stats.
