First Lie

After getting a new life, Felix like being reborn.

Hard work. It was ingrained in Felix's psyche and applied when Basil taught him to take care of life as well as how to live.

Reading and writing the ancient and new alphabet, gave him the basic knowledge to learn everything from the window of the world. Yes, books.

Basil taught him how to be an agile man, he train him to run, to dodge an arrow. Then he train him physical training and knowledge of the fechtbuch that allowed Felix to master many weapons. From the arming sword, longsword, spear, axe, halberd, rapier, and dagger, he learn how to use it perfectly.

Felix spends his time reading books in Finn's room or practicing weapons behind the house. When he's not doing that, he's exploring the forest. For some reason he loves the smell of humus.

It reminded him of who he was before he met Basil. It reminded him of one main goal, to unravel the mystery of his past.

As beautiful as his future and present life were, without the past he was just... nobody.

That why, he wanted to find the way, to restore his lost memory.

After a long fechtbuch training, Basil gave Felix an applause.

"You're a natural, kid. Usually people need more time to master all this. I'm proud of you." A simple compliment, but one that meant a lot to Felix.

"Thank you."

"Now it's time to train you in horseback riding and archery. But there's one thing you're missing, son."

Felix didn't understand. He was trying to be the best, to hear Basil's praise, to repay his savior he was trying to be the perfect son for Basil. Of course that sentence shattered Felix's confidence.

"Heart." Basil touched Felix's chest. "You're not a robot who does everything perfectly. You are a human being. Use your heart."

"But, the heart only makes us weak." That what Felix read on ancient book about perfection human being.

Basil shook his head. "The heart makes people strong. Didn't your heart make you able to survive in the forest? I want you to learn how to use your heart. I will wait for you in the forest and teach you how to hunt properly once you know how to use your heart."

No matter how diligently he searched, how much time he read, there was no information on how to use the heart.

Of course, he rarely smiled, rarely showed expression, as if he had forgotten how to do anything, make him look like a robot.

Even after dinner, Nami said, "You robot. Can't you get rid of your cold demeanor?"

"You have to act like human, bro," Finn said. "Don't be like a cold robot. Please be human."

Nami gave her best smile. But, Finn words confused Felix. His head tilted as if he was about to fall. He fail to catch their joke.

Robot? Felix had read that robot were made by human ancestors. But, he had never read about humans becoming robots.

After a week, he still become a robot. But he wanted to learn to hunt, use arrows, and become a real man. He was forced to lie.

His first lie.
