The Cruel King [2]

[ALANOR]

The lycans were known as the strongest creatures in the supernatural world, but here and now, they were weak and pathetic. They had no choice, no voice, and most importantly, they had nothing. They were just creatures that the King manipulated as he saw fit.

And they would never have a choice, the king had made sure of that.

"All hail Udrad!" the king said and the crowd cheered on. The excitement was sickening, and the pain was so raw in the eyes of Alanor's parents. The sound of hearts breaking could be heard in the cheers, and the apologies too, a reminder of how hopeless Udrad was.

"All hail Udrad!"

"Bring forward the victims of this heinous crime!" The King said to his warriors who came forward with an older couple, leaving the crowd with their mouths on the forest floor.

Even Alanor was in shock.

This couple looked like they had taken a beating worse than Alanor's parents.

They gave the whole "beaten and bruised" aspect a whole new meaning. It was frankly disgusting, whoever did this didn't need to stay alive. they would be brought to the book. The fact that this couple was old, just made things worse for the trial session.

There was no way Alanor's parents would come out of this alive. The young Wynter knew it, and they all knew it. It was however sad, how they had all come forward to judge his parents, but then it seemed like they were just here for the show.

If Alanor's parents were not convicted yet, if the judgment hadn't been passed, then it was pointless having them here and nailed up already. It was cruel.

Whatever this was, whoever this couple was, they had gone through enough rough situations. But even then, young Alanor was ready to plead for mercy for his parents. He didn't care that they may or may not have actually stolen, because all that was pointless once the accused got to the trial field.

The couple looked around the crowd, fear clear in their eyes. The older man was looking at his wife, as if to ask if she was okay. they just nodded at each other, given there wasn't a choice here anyway.

They alone weren't sure of what to expect, but seeing Alanor's parents there, made them want to take a step back. They knew what was happening, and just like everyone else, they had no choice.

The cruelty of King Eddy was Udrad's greatest fear.

"As you can see, the victims have been roughed up and they are hurting, not to mention tired, because of their old age," The king said, wiping a stray tear from his eyes. He looked like he was truly worried and if his people didn't know him, if his people hadn't come across his brutality over the years, they could have bought the act.

young Alanor had no idea of what was going on in the kingdom. His parents had always protected him from the cruelty of the King, which is why seeing them here, didn't make any sense to him. He wished someone could come along and give him an explanation, but for how long?

Whether King Eddy's tears were real or not, Alanor didn't care. He was curious to know the truth about all this.

He had never thought his parents would stand trial in this forest, never in his wildest dreams. But that was probably because they were his parents, and he would always be biased. Of course, a kid would always be on the side of their parents anyway.

"Nana, Dada, could you please tell the people of Udrad what happened to you two?" the king asked and the old couple broke down in tears. Oh, but the tears of the couple were real. they were hurting from the bruises on their bodies.

They were too weak, too vulnerable and all this was thanks to the man who was sweetly calling them "Nana and Dada" like he cared one bit about their situation. The king was cursed and no one would deny that they all wanted to see him gone and away from their lives.

Using his gift of sight, Alanor looked at them up-close. He wanted to know what it was that made the couple that fragile He wanted to see for himself the damages that his parents were being accused of, and when he did, the kid sighed defeatedly.

The whole setting had political conspiracy written all over it. For starters, Alanor could see that the throats of the couple were bruised. Their voice boxes were broken and clearly, their tongues were cut out.

How he knew that? Alanor was always a special kid, with special abilities. So he wasn't surprised when the couple pointed at his parents, accusing them of the act.

However, how could the people of Udrad have known that his parents were the perpetrators? The couple couldn't talk! As if to answer Alanor's silent question, his mother's bag was presented to the people, and the belongings of the older couple fell off when the bag was emptied.

There were a lot of things, and even gold was in the stash. Alanor had never known what to was that his parents did. All they ever told him, was that their line of work was a very dangerous one. A life that he didn't need to know about, and it was all for his safety.

This right here was the price.

Damn.

Young Alanor looked at his parents hopelessly. He looked into their eyes, trying to find any lack of remorse in them. Lycans were pretty easy to deal with. If they committed a crime so cruel, they wouldn't be remorseful even if they were burned alive. They would always be smiling all through.

The Wynters wasn't smiling.

Kacy Wynter was shedding tears, her eyes still shocked, like she didn't know how the couple's belongings got in her bag in the first place. Her right ear was turning green, something Alanor had always noticed, that happened when his mother was disappointed, by Udrad.

Gideon Wynter was not even looking at the older couple. He was looking at his son because he knew Alanor would want to know if his parents were truly capable of being monsters. He wanted to make his son understand that it was okay.

Gideon didn't try to defend himself to his son, instead, the father and son just looked at each other, trying to communicate with each other, without using their mind links. Some words were too important to even be spoken out loud.

Alanor had zoned out the whole conversation between the king and his people. He only snapped out of his trance when the stones began flying. His parents looked at him, begging him to go away from that place.

However, Alanor refused.
