Originally, Sky Scar had pondered what ill-intent this girl might harbor, but when he truly saw her, he discarded this thought. The gentle radiance in the girl's eyes changed his perception.
"Dad, is the lady up there the Saintess you spoke of?" Sky Scar asked in a subdued voice.
Old Marley's gaze landed on the young woman with reverence, "Yes, that's her. What do you think? Isn't she beautiful?"
Sky Scar was just about to say something when he heard the young woman on the stage announce, "Alright, we're about to start the class. Please remain quiet, thank you." Her voice was as gentle as her gaze, warming everyone's heart, much like a warm spring breeze. The surroundings suddenly grew silent, and the normally ineffective loudspeaker managed to carry her soft voice even further due to the quiet environment.
Sky Scar wanted to carefully listen to what the young woman would say, but his brain and lower abdomen simultaneously sounded danger signals. Experiencing a sharp pain several times more intense than what he felt in the morning, Sky Scar's face transformed, and he couldn't help but groan in pain. With the hushed surroundings, his voice was noticeably significant, drawing angry glares from the impoverished people around him. Within these glaring eyes, there was also a gentle, somewhat concerned gaze.
The intense pain surged like a tide, stimulating every nerve in his body. Sky Scar groaned again, his body collapsing uncontrollably to the ground.
Worried for his son, Marley rushed to grab Sky Scar's hand, anxiously asking: "Ah Hen, what's wrong with you?" However, from Sky Scar's hand emanated a bizarre force that thrust him backward.
At this point, Sky Scar was unable to speak. His face was deathly pale, his body convulsing continuously. He strived to focus his spirit to connect with his Cosmic Energy, but he was horrified to discover that apart from severe pain, he could no longer feel anything. As the energy within his body fluctuated violently, the biological computer also malfunctioned, and his Ability Level jumped back and forth from one to five.
His consciousness began to blur. Even though Sky Scar tried not to cry out in pain, so as not to worry Marley, how could he resist such unbearable pain when it struck?
Pity flashed in the eyes of the Saintess on the stage, and she leaped down from the high platform, gliding like a bird. If Sky Scar saw her at this moment, he would recognize that this was the most standard flying skill.
"Uncle Marley, what's wrong with him? Does he have a sudden illness?" The Saintess' arrival automatically cleared a space around them.
Marley, already sweating profusely from anxiety, saw the Saintess and instantly felt like he had found his savior. "Oh, omnipotent Saintess! Please save my son. He just came home yesterday and was fine this morning. I don't know what happened to him."
"No wonder I've never seen him attend classes before." The Saintess said, as she advanced a few steps towards Sky Scar. She squatted down and extended her hand towards Sky Scar's forehead. At this moment, Sky Scar's eyes opened, directly meeting the Saintess' gentle gaze. Both their bodies shuddered violently. What Sky Scar saw was endless serenity, a warm and gentle sensation, similar to when he had merged with the heavens and earth. But what the Saintess saw were Sky Scar's eyes – one black and one white. Both colors blended to form an eerie image, sending an unprecedented shock through her.
Sky Scar's convulsions suddenly subsided the moment the Saintess placed her hand on his forehead. For when Sky Scar made eye contact with the Saintess, his Cosmic Energy was stirred by her gentle gaze, and he finally reestablished mental contact. He used his spirit to control the Cosmic Energy, fully suppressing the forces of Darkness and Space, which naturally lessened the pain.
The Saintess' body continued to tremble. Through the sensation transmitted by her hand, she clearly acknowledged that her judgment was correct. A complex emotion flashed in her perpetually gentle eyes as she stared intently at Sky Scar, seemingly hesitating over something.
"Saintess, what's wrong with my son?" Old Marley anxiously asked.
The Saintess woke from her trance, sighed lightly, and said, "Uncle Marley, your son indeed has a sudden illness. Please carry him to my place. I'll try my best to help him."
Not only Marley, but even the surrounding impoverished people were stunned. In their hearts, the Saintess who brought them hope was so pure and inviolable. She lived among them in the slum, her dwelling being treated like a holy shrine by the people. None of the impoverished dared to go there lightly for fear of disturbing or desecrating the Saintess. They had never imagined that the Saintess would allow Old Marley to bring Sky Scar to her residence. Despite the general dissatisfaction, their reverence for the Saintess became even more devout. Sky Scar had judged correctly. Here, the Saintess brought faith – a force beyond measure for those with empty souls.
Marley hesitated, looking at the Saintess, "Saintess, is this truly permissible?"
The Saintess gave a slight nod and a small smile, "Let's not delay any further, bring him and follow me. It's quieter at my place." Turning towards the surrounding impoverished people, she said with regret in her eyes, "I'm sorry, due to this gentleman's sudden illness, we will have to stop today's class. Please forgive me." She was always so humble, with the gazes of the surrounding impoverished people completely devoid of any impurity. Through their actions, the impoverished people expressed their support for the Saintess. They silently cleared a path leading to the Residence of the Holy Girl.
Sky Scar is not light, and Old Marley's physical condition is not the best, so he has some difficulty trying to carry his son. The majority of the surrounding poor know him, and influenced by the Saintess, they understand that helping others is a virtue.
With the help of three young impoverished men, Sky Scar was lifted to the Saintess's residence. The Saintess lived in the center of the slums, her accommodation was virtually indistinguishable from the others, save for a simple bed – she didn't even have a table. And now, Sky Scar was occupying her only bed.
The Saintess said to Marley and the others, "Could you please wait outside? I need silence when I treat him."
Marley and the others had blind trust in the Saintess. After agreeing, they hastily withdrew outside. The Saintess gently shut the door, and with her back to Sky Scar, said nonchalantly, "I know that you can move now, shall we have a talk?"
Sky Scar indeed could move by now. On the way to the Saintess's residence, the Cosmic Energy eventually stabilized the fluctuations of Darkness and Space Supernatural powers. When he lay down on the Saintess's bed, he had already regained all his senses.
The faint and pure scent permeated his nose. He never smelled such a pure scent, and although his body felt comfort, for some reason, a strong sense of revulsion occurred from the Dark Aura in his cinnabar field.
Having sat up on the bed, Sky Scar was looking at the Saintess's slender silhouette, saying, "Thank you."
The Saintess slowly turned around, the glow in her eyes still gentle. "What are you thanking me for? I didn't do anything for you."
Sky Scar was looking at her gentle eyes, his heart calm, he smiled and said, "Your sensation of merging with the universe infected me enabling me to suppress the abnormalities inside my body. So, of course I need to thank you. My parents were right, you are the most beautiful, your beauty is matchless to others. From your gaze, I can even see your pure and flawless heart."
The Saintess didn't react to Sky Scar's compliment, and sighed lightly, "I just want to help those who need help. But, do you know? Upon our birth, it represented that we would be rivals."
Sky Scar was startled, frowned and asked, "Why do you say that? Why should I be your rival?"
The Saintess gave a wistful smile, "You should have been born on May 31, Cosmic Calendar year 315. I, on the other hand, was born because of you, my birth was on May 31 , Cosmic Calendar year 316."
"No, I think you're mistaken. I was indeed born in the year 315, but on June 3, not May." Sky Scar was watching the Saintess, he suddenly felt as if she had seen right through him.
The Saintess walked over a few steps toward Sky Scar. She was only as tall as his nose. Although she was already quite tall among the girls, she seemed so fragile and petite in front of Sky Scar.
"I didn't expect to meet you so soon; this really puts me in a tough situation."
Listening to this inexplicable talk, Sky Scar became more confused, "Why do you say that? What do you have to decide?"
The Saintess lifted Sky Scar's right hand, revealing his palm in front of her. Sky Scar's heart trembled as her seemingly boneless small hand brought a warm sensation. It felt like a touch to his soul.
