Let go

The employees kept talking but luckily for Hannah, no one involved her and she could finally eat peacefully, not until someone called out her name,

"Hannah," the person called, and Hannah gritted her teeth in annoyance. Couldn't these people leave her in peace?! "Since you are new here, we will be having a party to welcome you officially to starlight industries. Nothing much, just a small gathering," said the person, and Hannah could hear the happiness in her voice. "So what do you say?"

Hannah raised her head to look at the eyes that held pleading looks. She was going to say no, so those pleading looks were all for nothing. "No."

Hannah's answer made the smile on their faces falter but that did not deter them. They kept trying to persuade her, even though they knew Hannah was going to say no from the expression she had.

"I have work to do. You can celebrate by yourselves". Hannah's words left their mouths hanging and they stared at her in shock. She made it sound like the rest of them had nothing better to do with their time. It was something that they did for their colleagues to welcome them to the company and to get to know them better.

Hannah, finally done eating, stood up, ignoring the shocked faces of the employees. She turned around to leave the cafeteria only to bump into some idiot on the phone. The water bottle in her hand fell and broke, spilling the content everywhere. Hannah was satisfied when she saw a decent quantity of water got on the person's leather shoes.

"Are you blind?!" Hannah looked up at the person who raised his voice at her. He looked to be older than her as she could see some strands of grey hair in his black hair but even at that, he still looked young and healthy. His angry black eyes stared down at her and his hand gripping the phone tightly that his knuckles turned white. "Didn't you hear me?"

Hannah, ignoring him, decided to walk away. He was the one who bumped into her and she was supposed to be raising her voice but instead, he was making a lot of noise in front of her. Before she could successfully walk away, his rough palm caught hold of her wrist, and Hannah was pulled back harshly. She glared at him as her temper flared up.

"Let go!" Hannah said through gritted teeth. The only thing stopping her from bringing out her knife and chopping off this man's hand were the eyes that were fixed on them. Once again, she was the center of attention.

"Apologise", said the man, watching the woman who stood in front of him, staring at him with a glare.

Hannah didn't want to exchange words with this man and there was no way she was going to apologize for something she didn't do, especially when the man was being like this. When she tried to pull her hand to herself, his grip tightened and Hannah was sure that it would leave a mark.

"I said, apologize". The man said while squeezing Hannah's wrist. Hannah winced as the pain increased and when she couldn't take it any longer, she took a step forward and stepped on his toes which were covered by the wet leather shoes.

Luke winced as he felt like his toes were being crushed by a rock. He wondered where a frail-looking woman like this got so much strength from. Unable to bear the pain, he let go of her wrist and Hannah stepped back, releasing his toes.

Luke's eyes flared in anger and he raised his hand to slap Hannah but he was stopped midair.

"I wouldn't do that if I were you". Camden's voice came and both Luke and Hannah turned to look at him. Luckily, Camden had arrived in time to see Luke raise his hand to hit Hannah but he stopped them in time.

With hands in his pockets and a neutral expression on his face, Camden walked to stand in the middle of the two of them facing Luke.

Hannah noticed how Camden turned intimidating all of a sudden. It wasn't as bad as Axel's but it was enough to make everyone silent. He was even wearing his glasses that Hannah has only seen once which was on the day she first entered this company.

"Don't you know Luke?" Camden started, his eyes boring into Luke's through his glasses, "you should not raise your hand to any employee, especially this one. Do you know who she is?"

Luke scoffed, his eyes fixed on Hannah, "she is just an ordinary employee who lacks manners".

"She is no ordinary employee. This is Mr. Miller's secretary". Luke's face paled at this. If it were anyone else who was telling him this, he would have punched the person in the face for joking with him but this was Camden and if he is saying this, then it must be true even though he found it strange, but then, everything about his nephew, Axel, was strange. "We wouldn't want Mr. Miller to hear of this, would we? Apologise."

At Camden's words, Luke raised his head in shock, "what?!"

"You heard me or would you rather we take this to Mr. Miller". Camden asked, pushing his glasses upwards.

Like gritted his teeth in anger and mumbled an apology before walking away, the sounds of his footsteps echoing behind him because of how silent the cafeteria was.

Camden turned to Hannah and asked, "you alright?" Hannah nodded and Camden flashed her a warm smile. "Things like this happen every day so don't let it bother you. If it happens next time, just say Mr. Miller's name and it would be fine.

Though Hannah nodded, she knew that she would never use Axel's name. What if he happens to see her using his name and gets upset? The thought of it didn't sit well with her.

Camden removed his glasses and rubbed his eyes. Hannah stared at him curiously, wondering if he really had eye issues. Camden, feeling Hannah's eyes on him, spoke, "I only wear these when I want to look intimidating. Works like a charm". Camden said with a light laugh and Hannah nodded.

"If you are done with lunch then let's go. There is a lot of work to do, " Camden said and both of them walked away.
