Promise Part II

“But…Joker is not a bad person, right?”

The bespectacled man paused. He chuckled at the pair of innocent eyes in front of him.

“Uh-huh. I’m not a bad person.”

“Then…”

“Belle isn’t a bad person, too. She might look scary, but she’s a nice dragon.”

The child’s gaze that was fixed on Snowbelle made the woman sigh. She shook her head.

“This thing still has a lot to learn.” She smiled faintly.

“Joker won’t hurt me, right?”

Upon receiving that question, he chuckled lightly. He decided to reach out and gently touched her head. The kind caress made her momentarily stunned in surprise. Furthermore, the benevolent smile from the man made her feel strangely calm.

“I won’t hurt you. On top of that, I actually have the duty to protect you, you know?”

“Protect?”

“That’s right. Mr. Ace and I will protect you. If those bad guys come to hurt you, I promise that I will do my best to protect you.”

Flora was silent for a short while before finally revealing a bright smile.
