Start of the Examinations

Alex arrived at the headquarters where he met up with dozens of students lining up to be transported into the space station. There were countless people here in the military HQ. Alex saw that some of the students here had people that know each other that made him feel a little jealous.

In the orphanage, Alex was the only one with his age. The older was ones have graduated and those that were younger than Alex was behind him for more than four years. Alex was the only one that came from his orphanage.

As Alex was being down for a moment, a voice behind him called him.

"Hey, you alone?"

Alex looked back as he saw a Chubby Kid eating chocolate bars both of his hands.

"Yeah."

Alex answered.

"Me too, I'm Bart. Let's look out for each other."

"Yeah sure, why not?"

Alex accepted Bart's proposal as he felt that Bart didn't have any malicious intentions with him.

Alex followed the line with Bart behind him they talked about themselves introducing who they were. They both reached an officer that gave them identification cards that were made from transparent glass chips.

Both of them walked in and they were guided to their transport ship. Inside there were seats lined up where recruits would sit and wait.

A few minutes later, all the seats were occupied as the transport ship then started its engine as it began to ascend to space.

"Attention! We will arrive at the Space Station within 15 minutes."

The Transport ship docked inside the space station where droves of students were being assembled and given instructions.

Alex and Bart did the same as they stood waiting for instructions at where an officer was currently waiting for this group of students to complete the formation.

"Alright, Listen up here recruits. This is the beginning of your new life as soldiers of humanity. Tomorrow, we will begin the physical and intellectual examinations so that we will know what kind of position are you suited for."

The officer talked a bunch of rules and regulations before releasing them. Another officer then grouped the students into two in which they would share a room for an entire year during their training at the space station.

"Alex, Room V5-17."

"Bart, Room V5-17."

Bart looked at Alex and said, "I guess we're roommates now. What are the odds?"

Alex smiled at him. It was good that we would be room buddies.

The examinations were scheduled for tomorrow as they headed for their rooms together. The I.D's that they got was used as the keys to our room. It was very practical for designers of the space station. The room was spacious enough for both of us. Considering that the space station was a titan of a ship that floated above the planet. It spanned a few miles in which cities were developed here.

Alex and Bart slept early as they discussed that it was better to rest to get good ratings for tomorrow. Alex shared that he was aiming for Project Metal, the hardest of all to get into. It was where students and recruits were trained to don a bio-mechanical armor that would integrate into the body to gain strength and other aspects. Bart also told Alex that despite his looks he was looking at being a developer of Project Metal. They promised each other before the slept that one day Bart would make Alex a Metal Frame that surpasses current generation armors.

"Alex, wake up or we're going to be late!"

Bart shouted as he hurried inside the bathroom washing then changing into fresh clothes. There was a little screen inside the room which would notify them announcements. It indicated to dress up with the given clothes inside their wardrobe.

Alex and Bart made it on time for the examinations as dozens of students lined up again waiting for them to be given a test. The test was starting as Alex was eager to prove himself his worth.

"Alright, Everyone in this group has been accounted for and in a while, each and one of you will be tested for your strength, agility, and endurance. If you do not wish to try the physical tests then you may directly proceed with Instructor Helen to the Intellectual tests."

The officer then started to divide the group of those that had the same preferences as Alex and Bart.

"See you later Alex."

The officer started calling names of those that stayed.

"Aaron, come forward."

A taller kid than Alex came forward. The teen was skinny and his arms were long and loose. It did not have a sense of strength coming out from them.

"Aaron, this here is a measuring device called Force Gauge. It assesses your strength and tells them an accurate number in which a corresponding score would make you eligible to apply for the Projects inside the station."

Everybody in this room would probably have some kind of thought in joining Project Metal or so Alex thought.

"Punch here a single time and then get back on formation."

Aaron readied himself as he would not want to embarrass himself in front of his classmates that he would spend a year with. Even though he looked slim he wanted his classmates to be surprised.

With a shout, Aaron punched as hard as he could.

Bang.

The Device measured the force and indicated the score as 192F.

"As you can see people, 192E is the score of Aaron indicating that he is still above average in terms of strength than most common people."

Aaron was disappointed with the remarks of the officer. He thought that he was someone special as he used to be stronger than a lot of kids in his town.

'I will punch this time and see the difference between a soldier and a recruit."

The officer punched and it gave him a score of 421C.

"The scores of the Device are graded from S-F with F being the lowest. Aaron punched a score with a grade of E making him above average than normal people. Those that will be graded than less than an E will immediately become invalid from joining Projects like Project Metal. "

Scores were graded like this:

F: 0-150

E: 151-250

D: 251-350

C: 351-500

B: 501-700

A: 701-1000

S: 1000+

The test continued and a few students scored an F and were directly escorted to the intellectual exams.

"Celine, come forward!"

This time, a beautiful blonde-haired girl walked slowly with coolness in her steps. She captured the attention of everyone and also of Alex. Alex intently stared at her as he was mesmerized by her beauty.

Bang!

349!

That was a Grade D strength coming from a girl. Most of the class were either F or E.

Everyone was shocked she had beauty and brawns. All that was left was to prove she had brains too.

"Let us welcome, Miss Celine from the Everheart Family. Daughter of General Everheart commander of Fleet 54. She will be joining our class. Do not be surprised with her power as there are strength-enhancing gene serums that have been developed by scientists."

"Alex, come forward!"

It was finally his turn, he was nervous as to what score he might get. He knew that there was a fortuitous encounter with that object that somehow strengthened him. He hasn't tested it out yet so this might be where to discover how much it made him improve.

Bang!

309!

It was the second time someone has scored above 300. It was shocking because they felt this guy as a nobody. Though Alex was not particularly handsome he was quite above average than the rest. It quickly drew the attention of Celine as she looked at him curiously.
