Waking up on the Shore.
The sun was beginning to rise over the horizon, casting its first golden rays on the small coastal town of Maril. The morning air was fresh, and the soft murmur of the waves crashing against the shore filled the air with a calm melody. The stone houses, with their reddish tile roofs, lined the narrow streets, reflecting the dawn light that slowly bathed the town.
Kaelen woke up with a start. His small lungs sucked in the salty coastal air as he sat up in bed, blinking away the haze of sleep. He had had a dream, a dream vivid and strange, but at the same time, deeply familiar. A flurry of images flashed through his mind: shining swords, a majestic academy, and a name that echoed in his head like a distant echo.
Arthur Phoenix.
It was a name he knew well, but not because of any connection to his current life. He was the protagonist of Nobles Desire Adventure, the role-playing game that had dominated his days and nights in another life, being the most popular game of the moment. The game gave the perspective of Arthur Fonix, a young nobleman blessed by the gods who must prevent The rebirth of the evil god using his noble status gains allies by defeating the evils that appear within the academy together with the heroines.
Kaelen was only an eight-year-old boy, but somehow, the memories of that past life were coming back to him with disconcerting clarity.
He rubbed his eyes and looked around. The small room he was in was simple, with aged wooden walls and a window that overlooked the coast. In one corner, an oval mirror hung on the wall, reflecting the soft light of dawn. Everything in the room seemed familiar, but at the same time, different. As if, somehow, I no longer fully belonged here.
Kaelen got out of bed and walked to the mirror, her bare feet brushing against the cold wooden floor. When his reflection appeared in the glass, he stopped. In front of him, he saw a boy with silver hair with black locks and green eyes, but that was not the image he expected to see. In his past life, he was a young adult, someone very different from the boy who now stared back at him from the mirror.
Who am I in this world? he thought as his eyes scanned the unknown face. This can't be real...
He tried to remember a character in the game that looked like him, but he couldn't identify anyone. The silver hair was unusual, something few characters in the game possessed. One of them was Crysta Silvermoon, a formidable villain with a magnetic presence, but Kaelen knew it wasn't her. The reflection in the mirror showed him a child, not an imposing warrior woman.
Then, as I was trying to process the situation, something happened. A translucent blue screen appeared in front of him, floating in the air like a vision straight out of a video game. The glowing letters formed words that Kaelen couldn't believe he was seeing.
System on... Memory synchronization completed. Welcome, Kaelen Silvermoon.
Kaelen's heart skipped a beat. Not only had he awakened in this world with memories of his past life, but he now had access to a system similar to the one in the game. He reached out a trembling hand toward the screen, but his fingers passed through it without resistance. It was like I was hallucinating, but I knew what I was seeing was real.
Support system activated. Loading information...
Another screen unfolded before him, displaying a set of statistics and parameters that looked strangely familiar. There were categories like Strength, Agility, Intelligence, and Magic, each with a rating ranging from F to A. The ranking wasn't very high, which didn't surprise him since he was still a kid, but at least he had a base to start with.
However, what caught his attention the most was the mission that appeared highlighted in gold letters:
Main Mission: Enter Venus Academy at age 16.
That was the objective, the goal that had to be achieved in this new world. The Venus Academy, the same institution where the game's protagonist, Arthur Fonix, began his path to greatness. But Kaelen was no Arthur, and he had no guarantees that his destiny would be as glorious.
As he watched the mission, a sense of determination began to grow within him. This was his new world, his new life, and he would have to do everything he could to survive and thrive. If Venus Academy was his destination, then he would prepare for it. But before he could continue thinking about his future, another notification appeared before his eyes:
Activated growth system. Complete simple tasks to improve your natural magic and receive rewards.
Kaelen frowned. The system seemed to offer him a path to strengthen himself before entering the academy, but it also meant that there would be challenges he would have to overcome. As he grew, the system would reward him with improvements in his skills, but he would have to work hard to achieve it.
The sound of the door opening brought him out of his thoughts. His mother, a woman with black hair and kind eyes, entered the room with a warm smile.
"Kaelen, darling, did you wake up early today? Come on, it's time for breakfast."
He nodded, trying hard to return her smile. He knew he should act normally, at least for now.
The aroma of freshly baked bread and fish soup filled the small kitchen, a cozy space with wooden furniture that had stood the test of time. Kaelen sat at the table, watching his mother as she poured the soup into a bowl and placed it in front of him. Despite the visions and the system he had seen moments before, the warmth of his home and the presence of his mother gave him a sense of security.
She sat across from him, smiling like she always did. "Eat, Kaelen. You need energy to help me with homework today."
Kaelen nodded, taking the spoon with hands that still trembled slightly from the internal turmoil. As he ate, he tried to organize his thoughts. As he remembered more details of his past life, he realized that this world, although similar to the game, was not exactly the same. There were differences, subtle but significant. And the biggest difference was himself: a character who had never appeared in the original game.
His mother's voice brought him out of his thoughts. "Kaelen, are you okay? You seem thoughtful."
He looked at her, noticing the concern on her face. Despite what was going on in his mind, he didn't want to worry her. "Yes, mom. I was just…thinking about some things."
She smiled, gently stroking his silver hair. "It's okay to think, but don't worry too much. You're a bright child, Kaelen. I trust you'll do wonderful things when you grow up."
Her words filled him with comforting warmth, but they also reminded him of the weight he now carried on his shoulders. He had to prepare for the future, not only for himself, but for his mother, who was completely unaware of the fate that had been imposed on her.
After breakfast, Kaelen went out to the small backyard, where they used to grow some herbs and vegetables. The sea breeze blew gently, rustling the leaves of the nearby trees. Kaelen sat on a wooden bench, taking a moment to process everything that had happened since he woke up.
The system, the mission, their identity... everything was changing so quickly. But at the same time, he had an opportunity that he would never have imagined in his past life. He could shape his destiny, harness the knowledge of the game to avoid the dangers that lurked in this world. But to do so, he would first have to understand how the system worked and what he could get from it.
Kaelen closed his eyes, concentrating inwardly. He remembered the screens he had seen before and, with a conscious effort, tried to invoke the system again.
State.
The word echoed in his mind, and instantly, a screen appeared before him, floating in the air as before. The statistics were there, exactly as I remembered them. But this time, he decided to analyze them more closely.
Name: Kaelen Silvermoon
Age: 8 years
Strength: E
Agility: E+
Intelligence: D-
Magic: D
Luck: F
Skills: [None currently]
The ranking was modest, but I didn't expect anything different for a child his age. What interested him most was magic. In this world, magic was essential for survival and success, and if he wanted to enter Venus Academy, he would have to improve it considerably.
Activated growth system. Complete simple tasks to improve your natural magic and receive rewards.
That was the key. Kaelen understood that his growth would depend on completing the tasks that the system assigned him, small tests that, over time, would allow him to strengthen his skills. However, he did not know exactly what these tasks would be or when they would be presented to him. But he was determined to take advantage of any opportunity given to him.
While I was pondering this, a new notification appeared on the screen:
Daily task: Collect 10 flowers from the garden to practice your control of magical energy. Reward: +1 Magic.
Kaelen stood up quickly. This was his first task, a chance to put the system into practice and start improving. The backyard was full of flowers, and although collecting them seemed like a trivial task, I knew it was more than that. The key was in the control of magical energy.
He extended his hands toward the flowers, closing his eyes again to concentrate. He could feel a slight vibration in the air, a pulse of energy that connected all living things. Carefully, he tried to tune into that energy, imagining how it would flow from the flowers to him.
The first attempt was clumsy, he barely managed to move a flower, but he didn't give up. Concentrating more, he began to feel the energy more clearly, like a gentle river flowing through him. One by one, the flowers began to slowly float towards his hands. As he completed the task, he felt his control over magical energy improve, becoming stronger little by little.
When he had collected all ten flowers, the notification of the completed task appeared in his vision:
Task completed. Reward obtained: +1 Magic.
Kaelen smiled. He had taken the first step towards his goal. I knew the road would be long and difficult, but I also knew I was on the right path. With the system as his guide and his determination as his strength, nothing could stop him.
