Chapter 2

After school, Ronny saw her talking to Tom, while he kept thinking, “She looks so much like her... So much like Hayley.” She came up to him and said, “Hey.”

“You talked to Tom? I did my part, talking to Klaus. He won't begin the fight.”

She nodded, “Yeah. He would knock it off.”, but all the time, she was thinking, “Why am I falling for him! I need to stand up strong!”

Ronny said, “You are strong Lexi. You would make a great leader someday.”

She started to walk away, saying to herself, "Hopefully one day..." as she kept on walking. “I’ll see you later...” she said to him.

Ronny thought to himself, “Hayley was a serpent and look what our relationship got her... I can't make that mistake again, especially not to her.”

She kept on walking, looking behind her to see him one last time. She put her hood up, headed down to the parking, and kept walking when, all of a sudden, the room went dark, and she felt a little light-headed.

There was a blackout. It was 7 pm, so it was pitch black. He could faintly make her out. As the lights went out, he ran and grabbed her for she was about to fall.

She laid there, in his arms, out like a light. She had fainted.

He took her to the hospital. She was on the bed, and he was outside her room, hoping for everything to be all right.

She woke up, rubbing her eyes as her senses came back to her. She looked around the room, seeing that she was not at school anymore.

As soon as he saw her conscious, he rushed in. “Are you okay?”

His worried look made her feel warm. She looked at him and smiled. "Yes, I am, okay. W-what happened?"

Her smile melted his heart. “There was a blackout at school, some kids playing a prank, you passed out.”

She could not stop looking into his eyes. “Thanks.” She said.

Her messy pink hair and her ocean blue eyes had mesmerized him. He said, "No worries. The doctor said that you were just dehydrated."

"Heh, sounds like me", she said, looking at him and blushing.

"Yeah. So anyway, thanks for today. Tom and Klaus apologized to each other if you can believe that."

She tried to get up, and he ran towards her. She stumbled, and he caught her. There she laid in his arms. Both of them so close together, they finally gave in to the temptations and kissed.

She closed her eyes, wanting to enjoy every second of it.

“You know, we shouldn't be doing this…,” he said as he kissed her again. After the kiss ended, she bit her lip. “And?” She asked as she kissed him, closing her eyes.

"I can't do this. I am a wreck. Anyone who loves me ends up in a grave... my last girlfriend Hayley too..." He said as his voice broke.

She looked away. “Sorry I'll go.” She said as she tried to get out of the bed.

He stopped her. "No little one. Stay. Heal. I'll leave." He said, regretting about kissing her and hoping to see her again soon.

As he reached for the door, the doctor came in. "You should thank your boyfriend, you know. It could have been a lot worse..." He left, smiling.

On hearing the doctor call him her boyfriend, she started crying from the inside, for she knew it was just not meant to be.

She looked around her, and at the side table, she found a note. Ronny had left her his phone number. She picked it up, crying, trying to muster up the courage to text him, but she could not. “I am such an idiot.” She said to herself.

Ronny was on the street, looking at his phone, wondering if she had found the note. He hoped for it, but when he did not get any text, he felt sad.

That night, he was not able to sleep well. He was dreaming of Hayley. The Serpent Queen. His love. Their love was forbidden, for he was a mere road member back then, and she was the Serpents' leader. Then the war happened. Dragons versus Serpents. They slaughtered each other. The dragon leader, Ben, stabbed her in front of him. She returned the favour though. Both the leaders were dying. He ran to her. "Promise me that you would bring peace between our two clans. Promise me, Ronny!" She said as her voice choked. "I promise Hayley, just don't leave me..." I said, crying. "I'll never leave you," she said, as she died, in his arms. That was the day he became the leader of dragons. All these memories kept him awake all night. He felt that by loving Lexi, he was somehow cheating on Hayley.

Lexi tossed and turned all night. She left the hospital a little early, but she did not care about herself. She had to see him.
