Afterlife Department
50,000 years ago, Hell was destroyed because of too much Foul from the resentment of the souls that later turned to Soul Eaters and devoured everything in their wake, leaving nothing of Hell. The gods above in Heaven, in order to take care of the newly-died souls, created the Afterlife Department comprised of grim reapers. Merits
"'merits'." Huo Ling muttered when he also recalled this word that Yi Bing told him, too. But, unlike the Soul Fragment and Soul Crystal which he didn't know before, Huo Ling knows that this 'merit' is also called 'karma'.
If you did a good thing, then you will earn merits which will then be counted after you die. Then, you will have a good karma which will make your next life good. And the better your next life will be the more merits – or good things, that you did. But, if you did a bad thing like lying or cheating, worse is committing a crime or a sin, then you will have a demerit and you will have a bad karma in your next life, which will make your life worse the more bad things that you did, or the heavier the crime or sin that you committed.
