At noon, when it was time to eat, everyone was clearly not as enthusiastic as in the morning.
There's a feeling called being too hungry.
Your body sends out hunger signals, but when there's no food available, it just starts consuming its own stored snacks (sugar elements), and when you finally invite it out to eat, it no longer wants to go.
That's called adaptability.
It's like trying to coax an unappeasable girlfriend.
Moreover, today's attention was captured by two things.
The busload of people that arrived in the morning didn't settle in as everyone had worried they might, nor did they even get off the bus. The military officer leading the group went upstairs into the office, closed the door, and a bunch of them were all secretive for half a day. An hour or so later, the team officer and an instructor came down together, boarded the bus, and left without looking back.
Even when they left just as everyone's fragrant bento meals arrived, they didn't even spare a glance.
