Coming of age

I came of age, as my mother would call it. I knew my life would one day come to child bearing. My mother told me that the minute I was born my father whispered into my ear.

" Prince Ivor is your match".

I always laughed to that but it was the truth. Prince Ivor Grimwall, heir to king Adam Grimwall, king of the fire and smoke kingdom,Kasaria. I was made to say these long titles when ever I mentioned his name. funny enough after the wedding it'll just be Ivor.

" Beautiful morning my water lady" My handmaid Lisa said

There was nothing beautiful about the morning only that I've added a full year, fully ready to be wed to the prince.

" Her lady, princess Aleera Duras soon to be queen Aleera Grimwall" Lisa said.

Lisa always tried to cheer me up with that. I always wished I could flush the prince down with my water. I never wanted to fall in love or rather I did not believe in love. I did not want to be put to the pain of child bearing, although I loved children. My father, king Jarius trained me fiercely. I was one the strongest in the kingdom.

Pesteracia was a kingdom outside Kasaria. Pesteracia was very cold because of the waterlings and icelings in it. on the other hand Kasaria was very hot due to icelings and smokelings. I was an ice_ Waterling as I call it. I had both ice and water powers. ice on my right water on my left. My father always told me that people would fear me if I built my powers. I did not want that, I wanted to help my kingdom with my powers, but I was being sold off to the prince.

I knew deep down that my father wanted to conquer Kasaria. He decided to use me as the spy. King Adam tried to cut their heat once to our kingdom but my father pleaded that's where I came in as the price. This was the worst birthday I was ever going to have. Anyways, I never liked birthdays because on each one I was reminded that I was a year closer to my betrothed. My father organised a birthday ball for me. I was surprised because this was the first time he did that since I was born.

"The royal family is coming princess" Lisa said.

Then it was no longer a shock to me, my father only wanted to show off.

"Her lady, Queen Hemsia Duras" the announcer shouted as my mother entered my room

"mother.... I'm aware of what's happening, Lisa told me" I said

" very good Aleera, but I also want to check your magic".

My powers became stronger as I grew older. I made an ice knife and shot it to the sky out the window then it came down as raindrops.

"not so impressive Aleera and I know you are holding back but you can't hold back for long you are a hybrid and you will soon have to face it" my mother said.

I never liked it when she called me hybrid. I always felt like a monster deep down and yes I always tried to hold back.

"Aleera dear don't try to do anything funny today we can't afford to loose the royal family we are so close " my mother said as she left.

Yes.... she knew me well enough to know that I will always devise a plan. I had to run away, I did not want the royal family of Kasaria to like me.

"Lisa you have to go as me today" I said.

" no I can't my lady I'll be in trouble as will you" Lisa said.

" I won't let anything happen to you and don't worry about me I'll be alright" I said.

Lisa trembled but after dressing her up her mood changed. I sneaked out through my window to my hideout as Lisa went for the ball. Nobody except Lisa knew my hideout. I went there anytime my parents hurt me. it was a safe place where I vent all my powers without anybody getting hurt. I got there and after causing a flood there I burst into tears.

"excuse me are you okay?" someone asked.

I looked to see who it was. It was a boy about my age dressed in Kasaria royal silk. I guessed he would be the king's guard or an escort from the castle.

" please I don't need someone to be talking to at the moment so ignore and leave" I said.

"Neither do I but you flooded everywhere here and my pants are soaked all because of you" he said.

"who are you anyway?" I asked.

"well you don't need to know freak". He said.

" I am Princess Aleera of Pesteracia, the hybrid you dare not talk to me that way or I'll drown you" I said.

" easy there me lady your eyes are really blue right now don't worry I'll leave but your ball is on and I'm not good at keeping secrets

" he said as he left. " I'll see you soon Aleera" he said from far away.

I did not understand what he meant by that, but time had passed it was getting dark. I ran back to the castle and it was in chaos Lisa was held by the guards. I sneaked into my room, changed my clothes and lay on my bed. Before the announcer could shout my mother barged in.

"Aleera what is the meaning of this" she said.

" Mum I was not feeling well I had a serious stomach ache and I did not want you and father to be disappointed that's why I sent Lisa" I said.

"Aleera I know you are lying to me and I will find prove for now Lisa will be freed to tend to your so called stomach ache" she said as she left.

Lisa came in shortly. I asked what happened.

" long story my lady and looks like you are not the only one who missed the ball my lady" Lisa said.

"what do you mean Lisa" I asked.

"The prince was missing too my lady " she said.

It was then it rang to me that the mystery boy I met at my hideout was the prince. I was so close to taking his life , I wondered.
