Chapter 8 - Arrival at King's Landing

Ned Stark POV

The Warden of the North did not know what had happened down south in these last few years that had made his friend like this. He was now a drunk, fat lord who openly whored and did not care about his wife and family at all. Plus, the hatred he has against the Targaryen Family has intensified in these last few years if his monologue down in the crypts were to be believed.

Eddard had to admit that he was skeptical when he was offered the position of the hand of the king but it was the only way he could be closer to his daughters and watch over them, while his sons and wife watched over Winterfell in his place.

He almost broke the betrothal when the golden-haired shit Joffrey tried to have his daughter, his sweet Arya and her dire wolf killed. Even when the bastard was the one who swung the sword at her first. No wonder nobody liked him in the entire family, except his bitch mother.

That brought his mind to the second problem he was facing. The crown prince, Orys Baratheon, he did not know what to feel about him. According to rumors people loved him and he had done a lot for King's Landing, but whenever Ned looked at him, he felt uneasy. He always had this glint in his eyes, as if he was watching puppets dance according to his wishes.

The lad also had a mighty set of balls on him. He stopped the unjust trial of Arya simply by showing how huge the dire wolf was and had it wished so, it would have torn Joffrey's arm off, not just leave a few bite marks on it. Even though he did have the dire wolves sent back North, at least he had saved Arya's life and not executed the poor animals. The crazed look on the face of the queen had me worried for a moment, but it looks like the lad has a good head on his shoulders.

He was shaken out of his thoughts as Jory Cassel, a trusted man of his guard spoke up, "Lord Stark, King's Landing is in sight. We shall be reaching there within a few moments."

He thanked Jory for reminding him and began paying attention to the road ahead.

~ After Entering King's Landing ~

'What the fuck is happening in this city?!' Ned thought as the Royal Party and his men were going through the streets of the city. Everyone of the North was shocked. The reason for that?

The cheering of the people of King's Landing. It was a well-known fact throughout the realms that both Tywin and Robert were not loved in King's Landing due to the incident that Tywin Lannister and his men caused years ago. The burning down of homes, shops and killing of innocents did not sit well with the people.

But right now, over a million of the same people were cheering as they walked towards the infamous Red Keep. But they were not cheering for the King or the Queen. No. they were all cheering for the Crown Prince, Orys Baratheon.

Cheers of the 'Wise Stag' and the 'The Unburnt' reverberated throughout the city and it honestly shocked the Northerners. The amount of love the prince was receiving in this city was quite frightening.

Eddard Stark didn't understand why, but he had a bad feeling in his gut that he was going to see his father, mother and brother Brandon soon.
