2 Seeing the World for the First time

Location - Earth

24th-century 'year 2318'

"Initialize test sequence," a feminine voice said

'Initializing test sequence' another voice replied

'Loading test sequence'

'100% loaded'

'Test sequence initialization completed' was written on the transparent glass monitor and a dot cursor was blinking as if awaiting further order.

"Test for processing sound commands"

'Testing process for sound commands'

'Say your command'

"Introduce yourself," The same voice said again

"I am Pixel a robot made by Professor Diana Alexander to help as an assistant in her research," the feminine robot beside the glass monitor said, the robot looked more human-like than that of any other robot currently present on the planet.

The humans were always scared of 'Robots' taking over humanity and hence never made any robot that had more features than required, thereby limiting the growth in the robotics sector. They thought that this will stop the robot uprising and taking over the world. But that's a story for another time.

For Diana that was never enough though. She wanted an assistant that had a certain level of intelligence more than the ones available on the market, and hence, decided to make one herself, which she felt would be much better in performance and it could be made as she wanted it to be, helping her save lab funds and create better Robot than one she would have gotten from the market. As well as being the creator, she could modify it further according to her needs and wants without any hassle.

Creating your own Robot to help you with your daily tasks is better than buying one available in the markets if only you know how to make one. The one that Diana had made was inspired by all the cute anime characters and hence, it had cute facial features and looked really beautiful and aesthetically pleasing to the eyes. This bot was also made to behave cutely, giving the robot quite a personality of its own.

"Do a system scan and make sure everything is sync and working properly" Diana commanded the robot

"Initializing the system scan" The robot replied as it looked up to Diana and blinked her pretty big green colored eyes. "System check complete, everything is in order" pixel said after the scan was complete.

"Awaiting next command"

"Observe the surroundings, collect data and report back your results" Diana commanded to Pixel while hoping that it would work properly and she then would be able to continue with her research work. Diana was a messy person and usually always needed an assistant at hand. But her assistants always ran away within just a few weeks of joining.

Diana had this habit of being uptight, strict and a perfectionist about her work and had very high standards and expectations of her assistants, but they simply couldn't keep up. It felt worse than being in an army camp for them. Fed up of all the assistants leaving her, she decided to just make one for herself rather than wasting her time by hiring another person for the task.

"Yes, Professor!" Pixel replied enthusiastically as she started moving around the lab observing things. This was her first time observing the world and looked around but had almost a slight fascinated look on her face.

When she reached the window and looked out to see the city skyline for the view, the sun had almost set and that gave the city a mesmerizing look. You could see cars flying by, with people going home from work, some kids playing in the park that was floating in the sky.

The humanity was at the brink of extinction due to its own stupidity, take the planet down with them. But Humans are known to survive the worst and build themselves again and that's how they were able to save the planet from its doom due to climate change and global warming that had taken place in the mid-21st century, it is no less than a miracle in itself that the planet and its people could survive.

Today there were a lot of laws enforced to prevent the same thing happening again. Today, humans and nature co-existed, as they should always have. The humans successfully made floating cities and the actual earth curst was given over to the mother nature completely, humans rarely went down there anymore except to bring up some raw materials required. The floating cities were not exactly in space out of earth atmosphere, but within the earth atmosphere just way high above the sea-level.

Today waste management was done in new ways such that zero waste went back to mother nature, except for the bio-degradable waste that cannot be reused anymore or the dead.

Even today you could see the effects of the doomsday the earth faced on the surviving population as everyone worked to stand up again on their feet.

After looking around some more Pixel came back to Diana and said "I have observed everything about this place Professor"

"Alright, tell me about what you understood from observing everything," Diana asked

"I understand that you are a person, who is messy and can't clean your surroundings even if you tried," Pixel said, Diana, looked at Pixel as her eye twitched not knowing if she should laugh or cry.

"What can I say, I really did a number there, didn't I?" Diana says as her face turned black.

"I also finished studying your study and research done so far, it is very fascinating" Pixel said with a charming smile

"Ah! you are fascinated by my work you say" Diana looks at her with a raised eyebrow. 'I hope I haven't made a mistake by giving her, her own personality and ability to analyze and criticize a situation' she thought.

Pixel nods her head while smiling brightly. One couldn't help but feel amused and charmed by her. She just made you feel like protecting her.

'Ah! that's cute' Diana thought.

"Keep up the good work" She replied while giving thumbs up, being as cheerful as ever.

Diana didn't know at this point if she should laugh because she made something so amazing or cry, for her creation was behaving as such with her.

"Stop the test sequence and initialize the normal work mode" Diana said

"Yes, Professor" Pixel said and started the initialization process to normal work mode.
