I lock the door behind me and sigh as I flop down onto the bed in my dorm room.

'Ugh...I can't take this anymore...'

I, Aki, 20 years old, am a female student in my third year of medical college.

As a kid, I wasn't given many options to chose from regarding my future career...my parents would always say that as a girl, I'd need to find a secure professional job with good salary in order to survive in our male dominated society. And though I understood that thought was due to their protectiveness over me...My dreams of becoming a musician and travelling all over the world were dashed because of it.

'Man, I studied so hard just to get into this field, despite hating education, because I'd heard that doctors earned enough to live their life by their own will. Just the profession itself gave them the status to do so ...but with what I've found out after getting in, it's obvious that's not gonna happen. Heck, there's no point to wanting freedom because doctors don't even have time for themselves despite how much they earn!! On top of that, I basically have to study my entire life just to keep up to date and prevent my medical licence from being cancelled!'

I sigh once again at the thought and bury my face into a pillow.

'Maybe...if I were a man...maybe then my parents would've given me more options....though the level of difficulties might not change, atleast they wouldn't be so overprotective. All I want is the freedom to do whatever I want without having society drag me down.'

I sit upright on my bed and grab the novel on my nightstand.

I know that I should be studying right now but honestly I don't care as I delve into the book.

The story was of a young man and his adventures in a world of fantasy, based on the games that I'd play occasionally...

I admire the main character, as I can't help but compare his life to my own...

'He's so strong and free...and the comradery between him and his other male companions is incredible...so simple and straightforward....Unlike the drama queens I have to deal with on a daily basis.

Then again, I feel like guys in general have this special connection with each other...something that girls just don't understand...I wish I had a connection like that....'

I continue to read late into the night until I began to feel tired enough to sleep...

I check the time once, seeing that it was 11:10 pm, and put my book on the nightstand, lying on the bed.

Just then, A crazy thought passed through my head,

'What if I died and was reborn into a fantasy world? Just like in those transmigration/isekai novels I read....would I be one of those OP Main characters? Atleast then, I'd be able to live freely....go on an adventure to explore the world! Maybe find someone i could connect with, who I could even trust my life with if needed...'

I ponder for a moment, before letting out a derisive laugh.

'As if that would happen...'

I close my eyes, And let my consciousness slip away as I fall asleep..

Unknown to me, while I was thinking such things, the clocks time had changed to 11:11pm....

....and froze. As if time had stopped.

A shooting star flew across the sky.

And at that moment, something weird happened.

A semi transparent pop up screen appears above my sleeping body.

A bright light begins to glow in my chest before exiting my now dead body all together.

[ ....success ]

[ initiating final step....transmigration of hosts soul. ]

And just like that, the ball of light that contained my soul...

...vanishes without a trace.
