3 Chapter 2: Learning about Avalasia 1*

The moment I say yes, I feel an intense headache assault me.

"Ugh!"

I yelp in pain and clutch my head in both hands as information floods into my brain.

[ Downloading data....]

[ ....complete. ]

The pop up screen signalling completion appears, and my headache slowly dies down as my mind starts to process everything I just learned.

'Ah...I see...'

The data told me almost everything I needed to know regarding this world, it's population, culture etc. It even had information on skills and magic!

'Let's go through what we know about this world first...I can look through the information on skills later.'

Firstly, this world had 3 main races: Beastmen, Elves and Humans.

In addition , the races of Beastmen and elves had an extra classification: Species.

'So dragonkin were considered as a species of Beastmen....That's quite different from my game knowledge....'

It also seemed that Initially there was a forth race as well....but 900 years ago an unspeakable tragedy occurred, which wiped out most of the fourth race....there were currently only a small population of them left, and these members were scattered all over the world.

When I tried to find more information out of curiosity regarding what happened, I was shocked to find that apparently only few people in the world still remember....It seems all information about that time period had been lost throughout the ages. All they knew was it was something similar to a massacre.

Realising that it wouldn't really matter whether I knew what happened or not at this point, I decide to put that aside for now.

Anyways, I also found out that there was a certain hierarchy when it came to species:

Normal< Superior< Special< Unique

Just like any other world, it seemed that prejudice existed even in this world.

Though there were few exceptions, generally social status was based on the ranking of your species.

That is, Most of the population were of normal species while many nobles were of superior species.

The royal family was comprised of those belonging to special species.

As for unique species....apparently the number of people in the world belonging to a unique species could be counted on your fingers.

A unique species meant that there was only one individual in the entire world possessing such a species.

'No wait! Doesn't that make it sound like I'm some sort of super rare existence?!'

Though slavery was considered illegal, there were still people actively engaged in this business. And a unique species would no doubt sell for a lot of money....which was why, regardless of social status, those belonging to a unique species would generally hide it to protect themselves.

'Uwahh...looks like I've got to be careful....'

I stare at the word unique written next to my species....then shake my head once before getting back on track.

Next came the geography,

The world of Avalasia was quite small compared to earth. It has 4 small continents :

Atlantia, to the east, also known as the mainland was the biggest of them all and also the one I'm currently on. It's the main center for trade and commerce and therefore a place of diverse cultures and people.

Noctia, to the south, a land of eternal night. The concentration of contaminated monsters, monsters which had been corrupted by negative magical energy called miasma, were the highest in this continent, perhaps due to the favourable environment for miasma formation. Perhaps because of this, it was also the most technologically advanced continent. They had invented artificial lights using magic and many more things reminiscent of my old world simply to cope with the everlasting dark.

Nordica, to the north was known for its incredible abundance of natural resources. A large number of caves were be found here where high quality mana stones and magical gems could be mined. These stones were used for creating magical Artefacts and weaponry.

'Though I don't care about that! Apparently it's famous for its hot springs!! I'm totally visiting when I get the chance!'

Welshia was a group of islands located to the west, A few of the islands were even undiscovered... but from what I knew, it was the best spot for a vacation! White sandy beaches and everything. Of course, that's not all. Apparently it was also a good area to find ancient ruins and the like so researchers preferred visiting the islands often.

The continents, barring the group of islands on the west, were connected by land, making trade quite simple between them.

'Apparently the people of this world refer to these places as countries instead of continents....I guess I can agree that due to its small size, each continent seemed basically like a vast country....they even had their own kings.'

Except for Welshia islands, the other three countries were each ruled by a king.

Coincidentally the current three kings were each of a different race.

The King of Nordica was an elf.

The king of Noctia was human.

And finally, the king of Atlantia, was a beastman.

All three kings had a good relationship, so there was no chance of war breaking out any time in the future.

I had wondered whether there would be something like a demon king trying to take over the world or such like in my novels but, it turns out that the demon king had been defeated over a thousand years ago.

In short, this was a very peaceful world!

Now, coming to culture, it was the exact same as those games I'd played! Slightly renaissance like with merchants, knights, kings...even assassins! There were no advanced weapons as of yet....so Basically, a world of swords and magic!

And the best part?

'....I can actually become an adventurer!!'
