Sattelites, survivors

{U.S.A(Destroyed), 1 year AMW (After Mushroom War)}

The cold night air rushed past me as I ascended higher and higher, leaving the factory and the chaos of MO Co. behind. The black and gold Mark L suit hummed with power. As I broke through the clouds, the sky began to lighten, hues of orange and pink stretching across the horizon.

For the first time in my life, I saw an actual sunrise. It was breathtaking. The sun peeked over the edge of the world, casting a warm glow that spread across the sky turning the sky into a painting of red shades. I hovered there, suspended between earth and sky, and let the moment wash over me, I truly began feeling my escape, my freedom for the first time in my life.

"It's beautiful," I whispered, my voice filled with awe.

[Is it sir? I don't see the appeal really.] FOOTBALL responded, its tone a mix of human and robot.

I just hovered in place looking at the sun rising, the changing of the clouds and then I turned off my thrusters, I plummeted to the ground feeling the air hit me through the nano bots, it was exhilarating.

I turned my body so as to see the ground coming at me, or me to it then when I was a few feet away I turned on my thrusters as I landed uietly on the ground.

Looking up to the clouds once more, my mask retracted into itself revealing my face, a small smile stretching through it, still I needed to get a move in on the rest is of plan HAVEN, I needed to get control over dad's satellites so that he could no longer track me.

"FOOTBALL, can you hack into Dad's satellites? We need to disable their tracking capabilities," I instructed.

[Hacking into satellites now… first MO satellite hacked, second, third, fourth, Successful. All tracking capabilities neutralized.]

[I have found eight other floating satellites still operational should I get control over those as well.] FOOTBALL asked.

"Yes, do so."

After a a minute or so all other satellites fell into my grasp.

[Gained control over all operational sattelites.]

"Good. Map out what's left of Earth and send it to the interface. After that scan for nuclear bunkers," I commanded, shifting my focus to the next phase of Operation Haven.

[Scanning… The nearest nuclear bunker is located 50 kilometers east of your current position,] FOOTBALL reported.

My helmet shaped around me once more, a panel of Earth and its remains, with a ballpoint checked near me indicating the spot of the bunker.

Looking at the map, it felt wrong I was taught that there were five continents on Earth and yet only four were visible, dad also hadn't said anything about a giant hole a few hundred miles east of the US or the fact that said hole was over one third of the Earth's total surface.

The continents were also much smaller than what dad had said, it seemed like out of the four continents left more than 3/4 of their land mass had been swallowed by the rising sea level.

I shook my head, I couldn't think about cartography right now.

"Set a course, FOOTBALL. Let's find people."

[Course set, sir. Engaging flight path.]

I shot forward, the suit responding flawlessly to my commands. The landscape below was a mix of desolation and resilience, a testament to the world's endurance even in the face of such destruction. The journey was swift, and within minutes, I reached the coordinates FOOTBALL had provided.

{Marceline's POV – The Bunker 68 KM East of MO Co.}

I sat on a pillow, drawing the last of my new friends after which I grabbed my makeshift guitar before looking around the club house, where skeletons laid all around.

I looked up and saw the same red blinking light on metal that I always saw but could never reach, then I simply strung my guitar and started singing.

"Red light, red light,

Always blinking,

Red light, red light,

What are you thinking?

Up above the pork n'beans.

Like a clown nose in my dreams."

My voice echoed in the stillness, one of the few ways I stopped feeling so alone.

"What do you think Lemy?" I asked towards one of my cardboard friends.

"That was great."

"Yeah, you're so good at music Marceline."

"Why is your mom scared of you? Where is she?"

"She saw what I did to the mean dog, then she found a scooter and…"

"That was her ticket out of town."

"You scare everybody away Marceline, just like your dad."

Tears started gathering in my eyes as my 'friends' said those harsh words. Still my voice escaped my lips once more as I made a voice for Tinny, a tin can with a hat.

"Hey Marcy did that on purpose. Like a funny joke."

"Haha, yeah that's right when people get scared and run away it's because I want them too."

I declared standing up and stringing my guitar once more.

Yet after doing so I started hearing something else something new, maybe someone else was coming to the secret club house party.

I walked over to the broken open door and looked at the horizon. There I saw it a figure, was flying towards me. It looked like a metal man, black and gold, glowing brightly. My heart pounded in my chest, what was that?

The metal man landed gracefully a few meters away from me, his face hidden behind a sleek helmet. I hid behind the door trying to think happy thoughts, hoping the metal man wouldn't notice me.

"Is anyone in there?"

The metal man spoke his voice robotic, unfeeling, cold.

"No there isn't anybody here, go away."

"Hmm, then who was that?"

"A ghost, now go away."

The tin man walked close and closer before his helmet got through the club house doorway.

It looked down at me, two glowing rectangular eyes which asked "Who are you? Is anyone else with you?"

His head looked up above me, probably seeing every inch of the club house. He then looked at me once more his helmet retracted, revealing a young boy, with a kind yet somewhat sad expression.

"Hi kid, I'm Nicolas though you can call me Nico," he said, his voice calm and reassuring.

"Don't be scared, I'm here to help."

I stared at him. "Scared? I'm not scared, you should be the one who's scared."
