Chapter 6: 'The Cursed Village': Festival Tradition (6)

"Actually It's very simple, if the villager wants to sacrifice us, that means we can meet the Killer." Augus explained.

But in reality, Augus heart is filled with uneasiness. 'I feel like there's gonna be something big that will happen..'

While he leans against the wall near him, he can feel the after effects of hypnotize people, and erased people memories. His body became weak. August shut his eyes closed with an anxious feeling.

Christopher knows that Augus is at his weakest point. However, it's odd that Christopher is not attacking Augus or starting a fight. Allura was truly grateful for this, because she wasn't at all sure how it would turn out if the two of them fought.

"Rain falls.." Said Lana interrupting Allura's thoughts. But it did rain. The rain is not that heavy. Though, it gives a horror and mystical ambiance to the surrounding area. Augus stared at the wall blocking the rain for them, as if he could see the rain behind the wall. Then, Augustus turned around and went back to rest.

However, now they just needed to wait for the festival tradition to start, although because of the rain, they weren't sure if it would be canceled or not. Therefore, Allura, Christopher, and Lana waited while they rest.

Noon quickly arrived, and at that time, Augus woke up from his sleep. He looked around his very dark room and stepped outside. After resting, a lot of his energy recovered, so Augus didn't look as weak as before. At that moment, Augus heard a knock from the entrance of their place.

Augus position was quite far away from the door, so Christopher opened the door instead for their guest.

"Hello! The Head of this Village asked me to tell you that the Festival tradition is about to start. He also told me to take you to the starting point of the group's path!" said Jack excitedly. Jack was drenched in rain, so it could be concluded that there was no 'umbrella' in this village.

Christopher furrowed his brow, then ushered the wet Jack inside. Then, Allura greeted Jack and asked him to dry off first. Jack nodded in agreement, then sat cross-legged on the floor, and greeted Lana and Augus. Lana, Christopher, Allura, and Augus acted the same as before, as if they didn't know anything.

Then after Jack began to warm up, Jack invited them to immediately go to the starting point of the group's path. Because soon the festival tradition was about to begin. Lana heard the rain pouring down heavily, and nodded, saying that she was okay with the rain. So did Augus, Christopher, and Allura, they didn't seem to mind even if they were wet. After all, this was their chance to meet the killer!

Therefore, Lana, Augus, Christopher, and Allura followed Jack while taking in the rain shower. When they arrived, the four of them saw that there were already many villagers gathered, including Bram. It seems that they were the last ones to arrive, because when Thomas saw them, Thomas said "Now, since everyone is gathered, let's start our festival tradition!"

The villagers cheered wildly, the atmosphere was filled with happiness, which couldn't be covered up by the rain.  If the team of people didn't know about the sacrificial event in this village, They would've thought that this was just an ordinary tradition.

Then Thoman politely asked Augus, Lana, Christopher, and Allura to walk in the front, which also confirmed that Thomas was willing to sacrifice the four of them! However, knowing this, the faces of the four people did not change at all, even Allura could smile in front of the villagers.

The people in charge of playing the musical instruments got ready, while Allura chatted with the other villagers. Meanwhile, Lana, Augus, and Christopher who are not good at socializing, just kept quiet while observing their surroundings. They ended up just looking at the very festive festival decorations.

Not long after, the preparation of the musical instruments was completed, and the 'annual' festival tradition began. Christopher, Allura, Lana, and Augus were leading, looking like they were paving the way, but they were just following the direction Thomas was told. If they don't even remember the direction, there are some small traces left to guide the way.

The music that sounded deafening accompanied their steps. Within the music, Augus and the others felt a tremendous amount of horror. Especially Allura, who knows the true meaning of the song being sung. However, the villagers seemed to have gotten used to the music and did not give any meaningful reaction.

Sometimes lightning would strike as high notes of music were heard, which added to the atmosphere of horror among the four people walking in the front. Fortunately, none of the four people were timid, so no one shouted and made noise.

Sometimes lightning would strike as high notes of music were heard, which added to the tense atmosphere among the four people walking in the front. Fortunately, none of the four people were timid, so no one shouted and made a fuss.

The four of them walked at a moderate pace, not too fast, so the villagers weren't left behind too much. However, halfway through their course, the voices that had accompanied them disappeared, and an atmosphere of silence began to creep between the four of them.

Augus who immediately noticed this, immediately looked back, unfortunately, the previously clear path was suddenly covered by fog, to the point that even Augus sharp eyesight couldn't catch anything. Finally, the four of them decided to go back to the way they were before, who cares about tradition when something like this happens!?

The four of them rushed through the path they had previously passed. After a few minutes, Augus, who was running, tripped over something and fell. Because the fog was so thick, Augus couldn't even see Lana, Christopher, and Allura who were so small. Augus didn't even realize that he tripped over a Human body.

Fortunately, in a split second, Augus immediately noticed this, because of the person's body temperature, and the smell of blood that started wafting around him. Augus immediately investigates the human body that caused him to fall, and finds out that it was Jack! The person who had invited them to show them around the village.

Meanwhile, Lana, Christopher, and Allura didn't stop walking, and left Augus behind, though they wouldn't notice it for a while.

Finally, Lana, Christopher, and Allura stopped on a road, because they saw, a pile of human corpses in front of them. Seeing their familiar faces, Lana said in a loud voice for Christopher and Allura to hear, "This is a villager..."

Allura immediately responded, "Yes, some of them were people I spoke to earlier... But, how did they end up dying like this?"

The implication of Allura's words was, that the assassin was all around them! The good thing is, knowing that in their hearts, Lana and Christopher didn't panic, they instead suggested starting to investigate their surroundings. Because of the fog, they could barely see anything, they even found corpses due to Lana's previous proximity to the corpses, and because Lana was able to identify what was in her way.

"But before that, where's the vampire?" Allura asked, stopping from the start, he realized that Augus had disappeared. Unfortunately, the pile of corpses had distracted Allura.

Neither Lana nor Christopher answered, because they didn't know, or rather, didn't care.

Meanwhile, the Augus they were talking about, who was left behind, heard the footsteps of someone's voice. He couldn't see anything or anyone due to the fog. However, Augus already knew who it was, because, the strong scent of blood only belonged to one person in this 'cursed' village!
