“Little Ren.” “Yes master?” “I’ve been hearing some things lately.” “Oh, like what?” “For one, an Imperial transport from The Great Yang was surrounded and looted just a few weeks ago. Have you heard about this?” “What? That’s awful! Who would do such a thing?” “Also, I’ve been hearing that someone has been extorting the local businesses on the island. Have you heard about this?” “That certainly is cause for concern.” “Hmmm, someone has likewise been forcing the local pirates to pay a so-called protection fee, they’ve made quite a sum I’ve been told. Have about heard about this?” “These are indeed troublesome times.” “Hmmm, one last thing, apparently all of this was done by one group, they say their leader is quite young.” “Don’t worry master! I’ll get to the bottom of this!” “…..” Shameless! My disciple is shameless!!!

The plan!

"I truly am a genius."

A confident voice rang out in a dimly lit studio apartment, the only light coming from a lone computer monitor. The pale blue light cast a gentle glow, illuminating the room and the figure seated in front of it. It was a young man, no older than twenty, his eyes bright and his lips pulled back into a confident smile. Looking at the word document he had opened his smile began to grow even wider. On the top of the document in big bold letters the title could be seen- Cultivation Mafia!

"Hahaha, soon I shall dine with immortals, soar the skies on mythical beasts ,and have the most beautiful women chasing me! I, Li Renjie shall conquer the nine skies! Hahaha," the young man laughed heartily as he envisioned his plans finally coming to fruition! Today was the day! He had planned for over three years for this day!

The day of his transmigration!

Three years of painstaking research, work, and isolation! All for today!

Leaning back in his chair, Li Renjie sighed while looking over at the large bookshelf to his right, its shelves packed with all sorts of cultivations novels and books. Over the years, anything he could find that aligned with his idea of cultivation would be collected and stored on this bookshelf. Turning back to his monitor he glanced down at his desk, before him were two small stacks of paper: stapled and labeled.

Bloodline: Twin Stars- Lunar Eyes!

Cultivation Manual: Nine Great Moons Scripture!

These were his cheats!

After years of painstaking research these were the answers he had reached.

"With these two cheats I shall be unrivaled! I shall form the world's first cultivation mafia! Hahaha!" the young man leaned backed and once again marveled at how brilliant he was. However, just as he was losing himself in his delusions a notification suddenly sounded on his computer.

[Reminder: New novels being released today at Uncle Wu's shop]

Staring at the notification the young man suddenly remembered that he hadn't erased all his notifications yet. He was already finished collecting the novels he liked but seeing the message he tapped his finger on his desk before nodding to himself.

"Well, one more round before my triumphant sendoff shouldn't be a problem."

Slowly, he got up and stretched before going to the window and pulling back the thick black curtains. The moment they were shifted, dazzling rays of light pierced into the dark void that was Li Renjie's studio apartment.

"Hiiisssss!!!"

Li Renjie bolted back as soon as the light landed on his body!

"Damn sun! The moon is a hundred times better than you!" he cursed as his eyes adjusted to the blinding light.

After a moment, he opened the window and was greeted with a cool and refreshing breeze. It was autumn, the colors as well the brisk fall winds made him smile. However, the second he caught sight of the bright ball of light in the sky his expression darkened!

"Look at those hideous blue skies! Those disgusting white clouds! Yuck!"

Sigh, why couldn't it be gray and overcast? Why couldn't it rain so that he could indulge in the fresh and clean scent afterwards? Autumn was his favorite season specifically for those two reasons and yet!

This damn sun was ruining his day!

Sighing again, he quickly put on a light hoodie before heading out towards his local shop. As the store was only a few minutes away he decided to just walk there, pulling his hood up he began walking all the while envisioning his future life. After five or so minutes he found himself in a quiet alley that was lined with a few small specialty shops, it was quite charming. Making his way down the alley he found himself in front of a small bookstore. As he pushed open the doors a small bell sounded, it was quite melodic and had a crystal sound to it.

"Oh, Little Ren, I knew you would be here," a middle-aged man in his forties behind the counter smiled as he saw Li Renjie enter the shop.

"Uncle Wu, you know I can't resist. Anything special this time?"

"Nothing too exotic, but a few new ones that I don't think you've seen. Hold on one second, I put them in the back just for you."

Uncle Wu said before getting up and heading towards the backroom.

Li Renjie smiled as he watched the middle-aged man go to the back, he had quite a good relationship with him as they both had similar interests. He would even save the books he knew Li Renjie didn't have, what an exemplary entrepreneur!

As he waited, he looked around and noticed that there were around four more people inside the small bookstore. One appeared to be done shopping and began to make his way towards the counter, it was a young man about the same age as Li Renjie. He was a bit plump but had a healthy complexion, slowly he made his way to the counter and began to place his items down, his attention wholly monopolized by his phone.

Li Renjie discreetly glanced down at the books before sneering.

'System novels! Who would want to be controlled by those capricious things?' he thought to himself.

At the moment, the backdoor swung open and Uncle Wu came out with a small pile of books, about six in total. Coming to the counter he placed them down besides the other man's cultivation novels.

"These are the books, I'm sure they're what you want," Uncle Wu said before beginning to scan them. He knew how Little Ren was, he wouldn't check them here. After scanning the six books he set them back on the counter; however, what the two had failed to notice was the stack of books had actually landed neatly on top of a thin book the other man had placed on the counter.

"Sorry for not being able to chat Uncle Wu, I have something important I have to do today," Li Renjie said after paying for the books.

"No problem kid, we can talk next time," Uncle Wu laughed failing to notice the stiff expression on Li Renjie's face.

He grabbed the stack of books and placed them into a bag before handing them to him. Li Renjie grabbed the bag before saying goodbye one more time and leaving. Uncle Wu then turned towards the other customer who was still distracted by his cellphone.

"Sir."

"...."

"Sir," he called out again.

"Yea? Oh, sorry about that," the man responded after a moment.

Reaching down to grab his novels he suddenly noticed there was one missing.

He looked around for a moment to see if he had misplaced it, yet still found nothing.

How bizarre.

The perpetrator himself was unaware as he quickly made his way back without interruption and soon enough, he found himself back in his apartment. Without even taking a moment to look at the bag, Li Renjie just placed it down on his couch before heading towards the bookshelf. Suddenly he began throwing all of the books off the shelves towards the couch as well. Shortly after all the books were placed on his couch, seeing this he couldn't help but nod to himself.

Going to his closet he went and pulled out a massive paper shredder!

"I shall sow karma!"

Soon enough, throughout the apartment the sound of books being torn, and papers being shredded began to sound regularly.

After about an hour all that remained was a massive pile of shredded paper and the bag from Uncle Wu's bookstore. Without a second thought Li Renjie picked up all those books and shredded them without so much as glance. Soon all the books were nothing more than shredded paper, taking a deep breath he stared at the pile before going to his 'kitchen' and grabbing a large metal wok. Bit by bit he began adding the scraps of paper into the wok before lighting them on fire and burning them until they were nothing more than ash. Slowly he kept adding scraps of shredded paper into the fire, after roughly twenty minutes all the books had been reduced to nothing more than a fine dark grey ash.

Li Renjie didn't rest as he immediately went to his fridge and grabbed three large two-gallon containers of vanilla pudding. As he sat down in front of the ash holding the pudding, he couldn't help but hesitate.

This was going to suck.

Without waiting any longer he opened up one container and mixed in one third of the ash.

And so, for the next five to six hours all that could be heard outside the young man's door were sounds of gagging, labored breathing, and the occasional profanities that added color to an otherwise unpleasant affair.

"Burp~"

Li Renjie sat back feeling bloated and disgusting, he felt like a pig; and yet, he couldn't help but smile as he looked at the three empty pudding containers.

He had sown the seeds!

He looked out his window, it was beginning to get dark.

The moon would be out soon.

Perfect.

After taking ten minutes to recover from his ordeal Li Renjie quickly made his way over to his computer and stared at his plan. He had memorized every part of it, taking a deep breath he closed the file before clicking around his computer and wiping it. Without looking at the computer again, he quietly grabbed the two stacks of paper from earlier and stuffed them into a small backpack.

After doing this he took a moment to look around his apartment.

Bare.

Other than the computer desk, couch, bookshelf, and small coffee table there was almost nothing else.

"I guess being alone has some advantages…" he said with a bit a sorrow in his voice.

It wouldn't matter if he left, he had nothing here anyway.

Closing his eyes he seemed to re-ignite his resolve before reaching for his backpack and heading for the door. Turning around he took one last look at his home of three years before turning off the lights and closing the door.

Silence returned to the studio apartment.

Who doesn't enjoy a cool autum day?
