Chapter one

"Over thousands of years have passed since the first seven alphas came to be. They led packs to conquer and destroy. Seven alphas, seven packs then into clans. Many were lost, even the innocent races. The alphas sought to rule over all.

"Six brave heroes emerged from the submerged creatures. They were of the Decent blood, Caster blood, Noble blood, Elfen blood, Dwarven blood, and Reptilian blood. Twelve Elites were chosen as support. Two from each side.

"The heroes endeavour to attain justice for their people. They sought to crumple the alliance between the Howlers and save their people.

"The War of Demons, was the name given to the 'game' that millions died. Even when the howlers lacked in number, the blessing of the Full Blue Moon filled in the deficiency.

"As always, wars are meant to protect, and protecting, the soldiers did. Four heroes and ten elites gave up their lives to give power to Godrhy who used the power to create the seal, Afjahrah which eternally binds the alphas beneath it.

"Though defeat sided with the howlers, peace didn't last long before the new alliance broke. Due to the betrayals that were experienced during the war. Not long before...

"Adam! Adam!!"

"Yes, Miss Rose." An average-heighted boy responds with a straight emotionless face from the gathered students in black and white uniforms.

The males wear white long sleeves with black trousers and the females wear the same but with black skirts.

"Can you pay attention whiles we learn history?"

"I was paying attention as much as everyone here to your tale." He says with the same blankness on his face.

"Tale? This is history. If it was a tale we wouldn't be in the museum of Phora, the epitome of our history."

"But isn't this all a myth?" He asked with the same expression.

"Hugh...!" She sighs. "As blunt, clueless and impertinent as ever. Tell me, have you once smiled? I waste my time taking the class on an excursion to such a great place as this and you dare disrespect my teachings! Can't you appreciate history?" She asks with a bit of annoyance in her voice.

"But I see nothing to appreciate. And I was only being honest, not disrespectful." He utters with the same blank expression. "All present students here know that this is simply a myth."

A noise of murmur begins to build up among the gathered students. Many eyes are fixed on the red-turning face of Rose. Smirks, also pop up as the murmurs are becoming louder.

"At your age Miss Rose, you should know this is a myth as well. Afjahrah is only a mountain in Phora."

A few peals of laughter bursts out but are immediately pacified with:

"ENOUGH! QUITE!! ALL OF YOU!!!"

Silence drives in swiftly. The stares of the present also aim at them. Everything seems awkward now. Then Rose says in a calm apologetic manner:

"Sorry...sorry everyone. Adam! Immediately we get back to school meet me in the principal's office. Now let's continue class..."

In a few more minutes the excursion ends. Students are moving back into their buses for another boring 100-kilometre drive to school. Though they will use a highway, the highway is surrounded by forests and mountains.

As usual, Adam sits in the first seat after the driver by the window. Unfortunately, today he meets a red-haired, pert girl in his seat. She is looking out the window at the sky not even noticing Adam's presence. Adam proceeds to tap her shoulder and she responds with fright turning to him. She looks him in the eyes with her trembling dark eyes. Coming to her senses she says with an angry tone:

"Hey! Can you get lost? And who said you could touch me?"

Reacting indifferently to her words, he says:

"You are in my seat."

"Huh? Sorry but I see no name tag here so..." She moves her hand in a 'shooing' manner. "Wait hold on a sec. You are the SPD guy right?" She asks smiling. "Come...come sit with me. Let's share. It already is a two-seat anyway."

He hesitates for a moment but when he hears the engine roar, he appears to have no option left. He turns and meets eye to eye with the girl who keeps staring.

"What is it?" Adam asks.

"Just because. You are Adam right?" He nods. "I'm Edna Jone. Sorry about earlier." He nods again. "Not much of a talker, huh? Tell me, have you ever smiled before?" He turns away.

"Who knows." He responds still with his expression unchanged. "Why were you frightened earlier?" Confused, she asks:

"Is this you showing care."

"No."

"Huh." Edna who now looks a bit pleased with his presence proceeds. "Earlier I was only lost in thought. Say, you ever felt like..." She pauses and shakes her head with a smile as if doubting. "... Never mind. Say what. I will tell you all I was thinking if you tell me about yourself."

"Not interested. I see no interest in your thoughts or you. I fail to see a reason to tell you about myself."

"Ouch! Will it hurt to show a little warmth, huh Adam?" A guy from behind in glasses asks. Next to him is another guy in a hoodie. "See you broke the little girl's heart."

Adam turns to look at the speaker and then back at Edna who appears to be teary. The horns of the bus are sounded. The doors close slowly then they move.
