—You did it well. You can regenerate the arm in the water in the cave, so don't pay attention to it. We are still on dangerous ground, don't get distracted and listen to me.

Adam listened to the bear's words looking at his arm with some hope, the eyeless old man had told him long ago that the water cured, now he only prayed that its effect was really so good and he could give him a new arm. The bear watched the boy calm down and continued explaining the situation:

—The one who attacked us just a ago was the monster that the locals on this floor feared, locals who don't really exist. As I told you: we could run from him, which is impossible. And as I also told you: only I could see it, which was a lie, but it was also true in a way.

Adam listened carefully to the words, but he didn't understand anything of the confusion the bear was talking about, luckily the glue also numbed his brain a bit, so he just nodded happily.

The glue that the bear put on him seemed to have numbed the nerves in his arm, which made him feel very strange: Adam touched the wound several times, but he didn't feel a thing.

Seeing a stunned boy touching his wound, the bear continued:

—The monster that attacked us was a 'Toy Maker' and it can affect our minds, which is why we thought we were in hex 8 of 18. But this is the real hex 8 of 18, that's why it was so strange to me that I knew someone he had died on these floors, for him to have sent you to kill someone with that information.

Adam listened, what the bear said made some sense, but a very important doubt arose from his heart:

—Why did you wait for me to take my arm off?

The bear looked at him for a few good minutes as if thinking about his words, and then he replied:

—Because we needed to kill the creature, there was no use staying here hidden forever.

—But hitting wasn't enough anymore?—Adam asked, not entirely satisfied with the answer.

—Could be enough—the bear replied, angering Adam—But the shelves on these floors value magical creatures more than librarians, so you had to make sure.

The bear noticed that Adam wanted to continue talking about the subject, so he interrupted him, saying:

—For now, try to use the bathroom, so this bookshelf stops looking at us so weirdly.

Adam only now noticed that the man in the suit was on his haunches, staring at them, as if waiting for him to do something.

—Are you a bookshelf? Why do you have a body?—Adam asked, looking at the very elegantly dressed man.

—Because I'm smart—Shelf answered, standing normal and touching his top hat with pride—Do you want to use the Jacuzzi to clean all the blood from the 'toy maker'?"

The bear seemed to be signaling for them to say yes, to which Adam nodded.

Just now Adam had the time to look around him, he didn't know that this was a bathroom, there was nothing to indicate it in the hexagon.

Hexagon 8 was a large empty hexagon. The floor was made of black and white tiles, forming a checkerboard pattern. The wall seemed to be made of white marble, on the walls there were statues placed everywhere, there were no doors anywhere and the lighting was provided by some fires scattered around the room.

When the man in the suit heard the affirmative answer, he stood up and walked over to one of the statues on the wall and waited for Adam. Noticing the wait, Adam approached the statue that looked like a child playing with water on the wall. There was something written on a gold plate, but he did not know that language.

Seeing the boy approaching, the man in a suit with a smile mentioned:

—The truth is that no one has used the boys' bathroom for a long time, although it should continue to be impeccable.

Saying that, Adam noticed that the statue of the playing boy began to sink into the wall, revealing a passageway as it sank, the sticker and the man in a suit following Adam down the corridor.

When the statue stopped, Adam could find that at the end of the corridor there was a very nice living room made of wood: there were only a few chairs, some plants and another wooden door.

Entering the room, the man in a suit commented:

—Well, just take a leaf from this plant and eat it. For the rest, I say goodbye. Remember that, like all librarians: You can always come to this hexagon to enjoy satisfying some basic need, to rest from your reading and long learning towards ascension.

Adam and the bear said their goodbyes to the man in the suit and, as per his instructions, Adam proceeded to eat a leaf. As I ate it, I noticed that something was emerging from the wooden walls.

What emerged was a wooden boy of the same height as Adam, but he had no facial features other than a mouth, when he finished coming out of the wood the boy asked with a smile:

—What service do you want?

Before Adam could reply, the bear stepped forward and said:

—We want a bathroom with the fragrance of an old man corrupted by cursed books.

—Well, do you want anything else?—asked the wooden boy, very animated.

—A hand?—Adam asked wryly, luckily he believed the eyeless old man could cure him, so he wasn't too worried about it.

—Well, do you want anything else?—The boy replied as if it were a recorded message.

—Hey? Are they really going to cure me? Will you give me a hand?—Adam asked incredulously.

—Sure, we'll just add some healing plants— The wooden boy answered very excitedly—Everything except blindness can be cured. For the rest: do you want anything else?

—Superpowers?—Adam asked, tempting fate.

—Of course, you just have to answer a few questions, and we'll add the special service—The wooden boy answered super excitedly.

—They're shelves, Adam!—Shouted the bear, seeing that the boy went overboard with the services— Don't be silly: just ask for the basic services!

Understanding the problem, Adam corrected his requests, luckily healing a hand seemed to be a basic service for this shelf.

Finishing the requests, the wooden boy ushered Adam through the wooden door. Entering the next room, Adam realized that the room was made of wood, with several very nice paintings on the walls. In the middle of the room was a fairly large pool. The pool seemed to be made of marble and had a statue of an angel in each corner pointing towards the walls.

The wooden boy saw that Adam had entered and said:

—Well, now you can undress and come in, I'll take your robes, and we'll give you new ones when you're done cleaning up, along with your valuable belongings.

Adam undressed without much embarrassment and got into the pool, when entering the four little angels began to turn until they looked at the pool, their mouths opened and clear and hot water began to come out of their mouths.

Then the roof timbers parted to the sides and white leaves fell onto the pool. Above the roof, a large bright sun could be seen, along with a blue-green sky.

Adam could see how a new arm grew at an abnormal rate while he was submerged in the clear water, with some disgust he said:

—This water doesn't smell very good.

—The smell of an old man, not everyone likes— answered the bear looking from the ceiling—but don't let the wooden boy listen to you. We were lucky, I didn't know that they offered that smell, but it seems that we will be able to get the wooden box.

—Why doesn't anyone use this bathroom?—Adam asked the bear, who seemed to know a lot of secrets and talked a lot about them, unlike the bookshelves.

—This floor is infested with toy makers—the bear answered with some bitterness—did I tell you that many people inhabited it? Well, he had his head burned by the toy maker, this apartment is not used by anyone.

—Can the toy maker create a hexagon in our heads?—Adam commented with many doubts —I didn't think the room was fake

—It wasn't entirely false—the bear replied—We were toys playing in a toy box. Until I realized we weren't toys and the toy maker got mad.

—Luckily we got out alive—Adam said with a smile, it seemed that after leaving the effect of the toy maker his mental state was abnormally positive.

—For good luck—said the bear with some anger—All creatures that affect the mind are dangerous. It was better to attack some lunatic and avoid all this.
