"Why did you bring him with you?" Brad asked Grace under his breath when he saw Melvin walking in behind her. 

"Are you willing to plead with that bastard not to press charges against you? Your fan looks like he might have the kind of influence to pull a few strings. And trust me, I know how fast pulling strings can work," Grace whispered into his ear as she patted his shoulder reassuringly. 

"You are part of the family, too, I suppose?" One of the police officers asked Melvin as he looked from Melvin to Brad. He needed to be sure that Melvin wasn't going to attack Jeremy, too, since it seemed like they were all pretty violent in the family. 

"No. I'm just here to bail, my friend," Melvin said, cocking his head in Brad's direction.

"He can't leave. The young man he assaulted is pressing charges against him," The police officer informed Melvin. 

"Assault? Who did he assault, and What exactly did he do?" Melvin asked, looking at Brad.
