Brent (POV)

We lay totally spent in each others arms. Su was fast asleep, curled up with her head on my chest. She looked so peaceful and beautiful, with a soft glow. Her face looked full of life, unlike how she looked at the hospital.

I never wanted to see her like that again. The thought of all she had been through gave me an uneasy feeling followed by anger. I almost lost her. I couldn't imagine that ever happening. That asshole would pay for what he did to her sooner or later. I hoped it would be sooner.

The bond was complete and now more than ever, I needed to protect her. If she was to be harmed, I would be harmed. If she was hurt, I would feel it. I needed to keep her safe.

That would be difficult with me having to be in two different places at once and with her not accepting her powers. She might have more protection if she was able to use whatever gifts she may possibly have.
