It would seem that Ezra had overestimated his abilities. Either that, or he had let the heat of the moment influence his decision.
As a B rank gate would have similar ranked monsters roaming inside, Ezra got easily overpowered when they attacked in groups. His weapons which he had collected from all his fallen foes were really his saving grace inside the dungeon, and he also started seeing the need for good gear and weapons. Even then, most of these weapons broke, leaving intact only three that still looked usable.
It took about four hours for Ezra to clear all the monsters in the dungeon. By the time he was out, his clothes were all torn up and tattered. After all, he wasn't wearing any actual clothes geared towards dungeons and such. 'I knew it was a good idea to bring along extra clothes.'
After he came out of the dungeon, Ezra didn't bother with the others stationed outside and just walked off. Ezra at that time was changing his clothes and getting ready for the next dungeon.
"Quite the character, don't you think?" One of the hunters stationed outside said to the one who seemed to be their leader.
"Hmph, whatever." The leader responded.
When Ezra came back from changing his clothes, the leader of the other hunters approached him. The leader of the other hunters asked Ezra if he had taken care of the dungeon so that the other teams could start their work. Ezra gave a simple response and moved on to the next topic.
"I'm off to the second gate. I'll come back here to take care of the boss and the other teams can head there to do their thing by then."
"Sure. If you're as slow as this first one, then that shouldn't be a problem."
Ezra didn't respond, but the deathly gaze he gave was all the answer needed. He turned and left for the next gate after that. There were four hunters present there on the site. Two remained there, while two others left with Ezra.
It took about 20 minutes for them to get to the next location. When they got there, the two hunters stood by while Ezra approached the gate.
"Hey!" One of the hunters called out to Ezra.
Seeing that Ezra had turned to look at him, he walked up to him swiftly, "Don't take our leader's words to heart. He's like that to everybody." The young man said. He seemed to be the same age as Ezra too and was just a little bit taller.
Ezra simply turned around and entered the gate.
To beat the previous gate, he sacrificed a lot of health potions and the new recovery potion available at the system store. The recovery potion lowered fatigue, which came in very handy. Ezra found himself more tired than wounded most of the time.
The raid went on for longer than the first one, and after five hours, Ezra was done and out of the dungeon. Maybe the size and complexity of the dungeon also contributed, but that wasn't the point. So far, the goal wasn't being met at all. He was still yet to see a level up notification.
"You're finally out. Just in time. The rest are done on their side and are headed here now." The one who had spoken to him before he entered the dungeon said to him. Ezra gave him a nod before turning to leave.
"Hey! I'm Luck, and that's Mailyn." The young man said with an arm stretched out.
"Ezra."
Luck's hand was left hanging until he brought it back to himself. 'Well, he certainly is cranky. I guess.'
"Why're you so adamant? This is unlike you, kinda." Mailyn commented.
Luck kept staring in the direction Ezra left towards without paying his Mailyn much attention. "What is the one thing you can always trust me with?" He asked vaguely.
"Your intuition is always spot on… He's that special?"
"Time for us to leave this job is drawing nearer I presume."
…
Back at the first gate, Ezra ran into the other hunters, who had stayed behind on arrival. They both saw each other, but no words were exchanged as Ezra went straight for the gate.
This was going to prove challenging. He still found the normal monsters in these B rank gates to be difficult to handle, especially in groups, so the boss monsters would clearly be a much bigger problem. Since all the monsters in the gate had been taken care of, Ezra went straight for the boss monster.
He checked the system store on his way there, but there was nothing good that he could purchase. He was stuck with the worn out swords he got the day before.
'I still have four other gates and one boss monster after I'm done here.' Ezra thought to himself. Time really wasn't on his side.
On getting to the area where the boss monster was, Ezra opted for a head on attack before the monster could be fully awakened.
