Hunting and Levelling Up (1)

After Chris got his hands on some health and mana potions, which emptied out the money he got, he went out to hunt.

He saw that many players were hunting the low-level chickens and rabbits that were available around the village. There was already too much competition and brawls took place, but no one would get hurt as PVP was yet to be introduced.

It was later introduced in a month when Version 0.5 came out. The present version is Version 0.4 and the previous three were used as beta testing or at least that's what the company informed in the press and media.

When Version 0.5 comes out, there will be two changes. PvP would be introduced and the second is the real money exchange. Real money can be used to exchange for game gold and vice versa, though there are certain restrictions and fees incurred on these transactions.

There are no restrictions on converting gold to real money but there is a high transaction fee on it. In the other case, there is a limit on how much real money can be converted into gold but the fee is less.

Of course, what many didn't know was that the restrictions and fees were lower when we met certain conditions. By obtaining noble ranks, these would decrease. If one reaches the Duke title, there is almost no restriction and the fee is almost negligible.

This is also the reason why Chris is in a hurry to hunt and level up. The noble ranks could be only earned when the person does a meritorious deed for the nation. These quests were only available in the capitals. So he was in a hurry. Also the earning potential there would be much higher than in a village.

Chris ignored the entry-level monsters and went deep into the forest. This he did for two reasons. One he didn't want to waste time waiting for a spawn and two to not get enmity with other players.

He would one day make enemies with a lot, that was given but that had to happen according to his plan not outside of his plan.

Above the two reasons, there is another reason. His Experience Buff talent would help him level up faster. So he doesn't necessarily fear the stronger monsters in the forest. They would help him grow faster than others. All he had to do was kill the first few and he would be golden.

---

As he delved deeper into the woods, he finally came face to face with a Forest Wolf.

Name/Race: Forest Wolf

Level: 4

--

This is all Chris could see about the opponent as it is way higher than him.

Every player would have a [Identify] skill, which can help them to see the status of monsters. In his past life, it was called [Fake Identify] as it would only show the status of the monsters and a few details of NPCs but nothing about other players.

There are many restrictions on this skill, which the real one doesn't. The only restriction the real one has is the level restriction or skill interference. You can't view the details of a being that was higher in level or they were using a skill or artefact to block the [Identify] skill.

Once Chris saw the level, he immediately started to chant the spells.

"Ice Armor"

The first spell he used was [Ice Armor]. This was to protect himself from the wolves. Though he saw only one for now, he was sure that there were more. It is a known fact that wolves move in packs.

The only reason a lone wolf would be seen is that one was either thrown out of the pack or lost its way and is wandering around looking for its pack.

If it was the first reason it was well and good for him but if it was for any other reason he would be in trouble.

"Ice Arrow"

Once the ice armor covered his body protecting his vital parts, he used his next spell, an attack one, [Ice Arrow].

The wolf didn't sit there while he was getting ready to attack. It took the initiative and started attacking him. If it was a beginner the wolf might had the last laugh but Chris who was honed in battles, didn't give it any chance.

He ended it swiftly, especially as he got the Critical Hit passive skill.

[You have killed a Forest Wolf, level 4.]

[You have gained 50EXP. You get a bonus of 25 EXP for eliminating an enemy that is of a higher level than you.]

[Experience buff bonus you get a total of 7500 EXP.]

[You have gained a level.]

[You have gained a level.]

[You have gained a level.]

[You are now level 3]

[You gained +3 intelligence and +18 Free Attribute Points.]

"Yes", Chris cried out loud when he saw that his level went up three times and he got +3 to intelligence and +18 Free Attribute Points.

A mage depends on Intelligence (INT) and Wisdom (WIS). Everything he does mainly depends on these two.

When a mage gains a level, one of these two gains the boost.

WIS improves the Mana Points he has, while INT improves mana regeneration. Both are important. No one knows which one of these two gains a boost when one levels up. Even Chris has no insights on this topic.

He didn't care as there are Free Attribute Points (FAPs). He can use them on the one that didn't gain.

He distributed +10 to WIS, and +7 to INT as these are very important to a mage. He kept the remaining +1 for later use.

His other attributes are very good because of the bloodline. He doesn't need to worry about them for some time.

Once he was done, he quickly checked his status panel before moving on to hunt other monsters. Probably the wolves that are packmates of the wolf he just killed.
