Chapter Eight

The two voices were in the room now.

"I swear I keep hearing stuff." The third voice was back. There was rushed footsteps then the door flew open. The room was silent. The voices. They were gone.

"Night shifts mess me up."

"Anyway, time for their supplements."

Although some of them might have taken more time, the Nurse made quick work of the recruits at the far end.

Park was particularly curious to know what the nurse was doing but with the poor lighting, it was all left to his imagination.

But it wouldn't be too long for Park to finally see the magic happen.

Or so he thought.

"Now's your turn," The nurse said.

Park slowly tilted his head to the side. Suddenly a jolt of pain shot up in his body.

"Is he awake?" The nurse mumbled.

Park closed his eyes and pretended to murmur. Though Park was still wincing.

"Don't worry it will be all over soon," The nurse assured.

Unimaginable sounds filled Park's ears.

There were sounds of struggle.

Then a sick squelch. After a short pause something was spat out.

Park was tense.

What was going on?

"I think this is going to be enough."

What was?

Sometime later.

"Aaaandd donee"

[Mysterious Substance detected]

"Finally, it's ove..."

[Substance is being revealed...]

"Huh?"

"Why is this one shaking? I thought I closed all the windows?"

"Eh, not my problem anyway, works done."

With this the nurse left.

Park couldn't believe what happened to him. He was curious and he got what he wanted. He abhorred it but he still got what he wanted. It was just him and the mysterious interface now.

[Eye Paste has been successfully absorbed by ink]

Did it say eye?

[You have gained Low Regeneration]

Park felt sick to his stomach. The interface was now out of focus.

[Recovery speed has increased]

Park went to slumber defeated. This night had gotten the best of him.

7:00A.M

Park was up. He was pressed.

He absently got off his bed and out the door. He strolled along the hallways as the lights buzzed above him.

"All our supplies are gone. We will need to work overtime. This sucks." A sound came from the other side of the door.

It was her.

That's the Nurse who rubbed all the gunk on his poor face.

"I guess that's where the reception is. I have to see her!"

Park thought.

The doors flew open.

"It's almost like the lamb inci...heyyyy look who's up." The nurse was now eyeing Park.

"How are you feeling?" The Nurse asked.

She was of a smaller stature. She walked closer to Park and closely inspected him. Park went stiff. His actions garnered a small giggle. She then straightened up.

"You look fine to me."

"Let's go take those bandages off."

As they started to walk...

"I think I'll go. I'm spent." The nurse by the reception said.

"Ok greet your cousins for me."

Park was halfway down the hallway. Then he stopped. His senses were going off. They warned him of impending danger. He could sense an intense glare. He turned around.

Then his hairs rose.

All the light coming in from the door's windows were barred. It was a huge shadow on the other side.

"Whatchu looking at Punk?" It was a low tremble. He could feel it. The infirmary shook a bit. He could almost feel it. Death.

"Hey don't do that. He just woke up." The bubbly nurse spoke up.

"Fine I'll go. But that kid, something about him feels off. Be careful Ella."

With this the shadow slowly backed away.

She was gone.

"Poor girl, she is always wary of everyone." Ella said.

"But she has never been wrong"

As her voice trailed, Park looked at Ella and saw her curiously eyeing him.

They walked in silence. Then they got to the room that Park was in. As he approached the handle...

"No honey let them sleep. Come let me show you where we are going."

Ella held Park's hand as they continued walking past the numerous rooms and into the morgue.

Uhh Morgue?

Ella got in first. Park was hesitant.

"What's wrong Parkie?"

"The bodies?"

[Ink is salivating]

"Not now buddy."

[Ink is shaking]

[Ink has ignored the user]

Park's shadow slightly danced.

"Come on don't be a wuss," Ella yanked Park in.

When he got in, the first thing that him was a butterfly. Not the smell of rotting flesh. A butterfly.

He was in a grassy field. Park was now staring at Ella's back.

[Ink is stirring slightly]

"Such a beautiful sight, isn't it?"

"Yeah?" Park was puzzled.

"Then what are you?"

Ella suddenly rushed at Park and both of them fell on the grass. She was on top of Park. Both were heavily panting. With a crazy glee she asked,

"What really are you, Park?"
