The Board(2)

With the investigation complete, Vale left the room in not so much of a hurry. instead, he slowly walked out as if he was purposeless. Without work to do, he was just another mid-high rank student, being just above average as seen by the system. Without anything to do, he returned to his dorm room to rest.

Walking through the long corridors had already become a daily habit, navigating the endlessly mundane hallways. Vale did not think too much into the artistic of the marble pillars that were used to support these halls, instead he thought about the practical uses for such a large hallway. The space seemed very convenient for a fight between students, almost as if it was designed for such a purpose. Autom was much more calculating than it seems.

"Hey, Vale! Have you seen Luna?"

A messily red haired second year student called from behind him. The student wore her uniform with little care for regulation, even neglecting the traditional neck tie that had been assigned to each and everyone one of them. She stood with a confident expression, waiting for Vale to respond.

"Luna is currently busy at the Newspaper room." Vale plainly responded as he turned his head to the student.

"Come on! At least turn your whole body to face me, you lazy bastard." She responded.

"I have already been respectful enough, 'Leech'. Go away." Vale harshly spoke as he continued to walk away.

The girl held a guilt filled expression as she watched Vale walk into the distance, but nevertheless, she proceeded to Luna's work station.

As she walked into the distance, Atlas eventually made his way to his dorm. The door was the same varnished door as it had been for he last year, labelled 'D20'. Vale quickly pulled a steel key from his pocket and gently unlocked the door.

CREAK

He pushed the door slowly, make it creak loudly as he did so. The room was dark and no one was occupying it at the moment. In the room were three beds, each one held a completely different aura of sorts when compared to another. The left bed was green and filled with scattered rubbish, the middle bed was white and spotless and had a medium size box of grooming products on the table next to it, and the last bed was dark blue and had a neat cabinet next to it, containing many assorted things.

"Tick tock... Tock tock... my dorm mates are certainly late." Vale said to himself as he hung his school jacket in the closet.

Vale proceeded to take a thick book from his cabinet, dusting it of the fluff that had accumulated on it over time. As he did so, the book's cover became visible, reading 'Chronicles Of The Busty Chicks'. Vale quickly flipped through the risqué book and found his way to the 110th page. The page was worn and was already turning brown from the poor ageing that it had been subjected to. However, in the middle of the page was a wooden lid with a black lock on it. Vale opened the lock with a code, opening the contents of the book.

Inside the book was a set of convex lenses that were aligned using a ruler length rod of metal. Vale carefully handled the device and placed it on a small desk which was next to his bed, shutting the book soon after. Vale then opened up multiple compartments in his desk, pulling out an array of different tools and materials.

The scene would soon be characterised as a workshop experiment that took place in the bedroom. Vale simply proceeded to attach some leather straps and a shell onto the device, encasing it securely. This was followed by Vale coating the materials in a mysterious material, then leaving it to dry as he hid it in his desk.

KNOCK KNOCK

Vale quickly walked over to the front door and opened it, only to find two other 2nd year males on the other side.

"Heya, Vale! What have you been doing for the last 3 hours? We were looking for you!" A black haired boy announced.

Vale identified him as Julian. Julian had his hair tightly secured into a ponytail, and wore a pair of circular glasses. He himself wore his uniform neatly, exerting an aura of order.

On the other hand, the boy next to him had messy green hair, wore his uniform with little pride, and exerted a more rebellious aura.

"Wendell, did we not already lecture you on the consequences of wearing your uniform like that?" Vale rhetorically asked.

"I know, but I don't like how tight it makes me feels. Besides, I got a pass from the principle." Wendell responded in a relaxed manner.

Vale himself had a mix of small amount grey and a majority black hair, preferring to slick his back to avoid complications in the wind. As it seemed, Julian was still waiting for an answer. The black haired boy crossed his arms and loudly tapped his left foot on the ground, refusing to enter.

"Fine, I have been working on a secret newspaper project. I cannot tell anyone about it, so please do not dig further." Was the lie that Vale told.

"Okay, I understand." Julian spoke as he proceeded through the door.

Julian decided to sit on his bed which was the one in the middle, followed by Wendell who jumped onto his bed face first.

"Hey, Vale. You should consider having a go at joining the board." Julian spoke.

Vale turned abruptly to Julian who had said that out of nowhere, responding with a sigh. "Julian, I do not possess a level which is suitable to join the board." Vale spoke.

"You are full of shit. You have never tried, so why are you giving up already?" Wendell interrupted.

"Life at the newspaper is good enough, I do not want to get beaten until my quota is stacked to a month of work. Besides, the board is for talented elite and high ranks."

"Come on! Your family ability already makes you top tier, even if you don't want use your other cards, you can still easily break into the board!" Wendell continued.

"A high rank can be three times more powerful than the strongest of the mid-high, don't try to convince me. Besides, they would think I got in because of my connections. Isn't that right, Second Knight?"
