Chapter Fifty-Two: End of the Party

As the party had started to come to a close, Ren was talking with all of the girls in their own corner. The remaining guests were mostly higher-ranking nobles, the royal children who were spread throughout the room talking to various nobles, women who Ren assumed were the other wives of the emperor, and the emperor himself, who was still sitting bored on a chair but still stealing glances at Ren.

The Emperor wasn't the only one, however, as Ignis was still staring at him from a distance, mumbling threats that only he himself could hear.

"I'll *mumble* kill *mumble* you."

Ren could tell easily from a distance, that this man...was not mentally stable.

After a few minutes of talking, Ren and the others were interrupted by two voices nearby.

"Hello sister."

"Hey Sis!"

It was Octavia and Sienna, two of Lucilia's sisters and members of the royal children of the Empire. Ren couldn't help but take in their beauty, but his memory flashes back, remembering what Lucilia and Aurelia told him about them.

"These two are angels with shotguns. They may be gorgeous, but much like when I first met Lucilia, it's best not to piss them off." Ren thought to himself.

Aurelia and Lucilia greeted their sisters as well as Ivy, whom Sienna and Octavia called "Aunt".

However, Lucilia was curious why they decided to talk to them; it wasn't expected due to Ren and her situation. "What are you two doing over here?

"Oh, we just wanted to meet you and Ren here." Sienna said.

Octavia didn't say anything; instead, she just stared at Ren, which made him feel kind of uncomfortable.

"Can I help you?" Ren asked Octavia, who was not breaking eye contact with him.

Octavia smiled after Ren asked that, with her saying "Interesting..."

"Did you see something, Octavia?" Sienna asked.

"Something like that." Octavia responded with a giggle.

"So...what's going on? Ren asked.

Aurelia answered him. "Octavia has a...special gift. She has the ability of future sight."

"Future sight?" Ren asked.

Ivy was now the one to speak "Yes, she can see things in the future; it's limited but helpful nonetheless."

"Wait...she can see the future?" Ren asked.

"A limited future." Sienna corrected Ren.

"How can she do that?" Ren asked very curiously about the abilities of Octavia.

Lucilia was now the one to answer "She isn't purely volarian; her mother was from another planet where its population was driven to near extinction. The Empire landed on the planet and found its remaining people. According to them, Octavia's bloodline is very special and worshipped on the planet."

Octavia smiled innocently after her family explained her abilities and history.

"So...what did she just see?" Ren asked.

"Nothing that's important...for now." Octavia said teasingly.

Sienna sighed "Meaning she saw something of grave importance."

"Then why doesn't she just say so?" Ren asked.

"She's weird, Ren." Lucilia commentated.

"But you still love me anyways." Octavia teased Lucilia. "After all, I indirectly led you to your boyfriend here."

"What do you mean?" Ren asked.

Octavia smiled "Before she set off on her ship, I told her she would meet someone who completely changed her life. She didn't believe me completely, but I was completely correct."

"And I'm extremely happy you were right." Lucilia said, hugging Ren from behind.

"So how accurate are your future sights?" Ren asked.

"95% of the time, there are small details I miss. After all, things change pretty easily, but they always wind up pretty much exactly as I predict." Octavia explained.

It was then that Ivy spoke up "Do you think you can see who wins the fight tomorrow?"

Octavia put her finger to her lips and said "I can tell you one thing." Octavia then looked back at Ren.

"What happens tomorrow will change the future of our empire."

With the pipebomb that Octavia just let off to the group that the fight would be that important, everyone was shocked and thinking about what she could mean.

However, despite several follow-up questions, Octavia didn't reveal anything else about the subject, which eventually caused all of them to stop asking questions.

As the night came to a close, Ren and the others prepared to leave the palace and head back to Lucilia's mansion, but Octavia then walked up to Ren and asked him if they could talk privately, much to Lucilia's displeasure.

"Not happening." Lucilia said.

"Why?" Octavia asked, faking a pout; after all, she knew exactly what her sister was like, so she felt like teasing her a little.

"I am his wife; of course I should stay by his side at all times." Lucilia protested.

"Not yet; besides, it's not like I'll try to steal him away from you; I just want to talk...but if you won't let me." Octavia teased him before she grabbed Ren's arm and ran away with him.

As she ran with Ren, she found an open door and went inside it to avoid Lucilia, Sthora, and Ashastha, who had begun to chase her.

Octavia put her hands over Ren's mouth to stop him from even thinking about crying out as they waited for the pursuers to go past them.

They could hear Lucilia yelling "REN!" as she ran by, but Ren couldn't respond.

Once Octavia felt safe enough to speak with Ren, she asked him "So...if you have any questions, ask them."

"Well, let's start off with why you kidnapped me?" Ren asked.

"Maybe I just wanted to speak with you in private; what's so wrong with that?" Octavia asked.

"You could have just asked for my permission." Ren said.

"No, I couldn't; did you see Lucilia? She was going to kill me if I tried to do what I'm doing." Octavia explained.

"She's going to kill you anyway, now." Ren said.

"Nope, because she won't find me after today, at least not until the fight tomorrow. Anyway, there is something you do need to know." Octavia said.

"Okay, and what is that?" Ren asked.

"When the fight begins tomorrow, grab the glaive." Octavia said.

"The glaive?" Ren asked.

"Just trust me." Octavia said.

Ren, for some reason, felt like she wasn't lying to him, and even if he didn't say it, he felt like she wasn't lying to him.

"Alright, anything else I should know?" Ren asked.

"Just one thing..." Octavia said, smiling.

"Wha-?" Renw was trying to say before Octavia pushed him against a wall and kissed him on the lips.

Her lips were so soft despite the hard kiss that she put a lot of emotion into it, causing Ren to be confused about what just happened.

Octavia then separated her lips from his as she walked away, smiling, and before she left the door, she winked at him.

Ren was shocked at what happened; he couldn't make sense of why she kissed him all of a sudden and then left without saying a word. All he could think was "Thank God Lucilia didn't see that."

Ren left the room and eventually ran into Lucilia, who immediately asked what happened, so Ren told her everything—well, not everything—avoiding the topic of kissing completely.

"A glaive?" Lucilia asked.

"That's what she said." Ren replied.

"Then grab it immediately tomorrow; if she says it, there's a reason." Lucilia said.

Shortly afterwards, the group left the party, leaving only a few of the nobles in the party.

The Emperor watched Ren leave and then called up Ignis, who was also watching him.

"Ignis?" the emperor said.

"Yes, your majesty?" Ignis asked, bowing to him.

"Make sure you are the one to kill him tomorrow."

This caused Ignis to smile. "I plan on it, your majesty."

Meanwhile, Ren and the others went back in the limousine and headed back to the mansion.

Ren was still contemplating what Octavia had both said and done. She gave him advice for the fight tomorrow, but he also couldn't figure out why she had kissed him; they literally only knew each other for like five minutes.

Ren touched his lips while thinking about it, which, luckily for him, went unnoticed by Lucilia, who was talking to Aurelia, but didn't go unnoticed by Ivy.

"She didn't...did she?" Ivy thought to herself.

*In another location*

Octavia was in her room, smiling and lying down on her bed, thinking about what she had seen with her future sight.

"Well...this is unexpected."

Octavia started to giggle at her thoughts, remembering what she saw.

It was Ren being with over a dozen women living in the same house married, and what was even more surprising was that she knew a few people in that memory.

"So me and Ren...how interesting." she said, remembering in her mind the image of her sitting right next to Lucilia and Ren with her head nestled in his chest, both of them smiling.

"I hope he uses my 'gift' well."
