A World Where Humans Don't Exist

Ashley had everything in her grasp. Love, Status and Popularity; she couldn't ask for more. That was until… One night, on her way home from her friend's party, she was caught in a car accident. Her life was turned upside down. She became comatose and was later in a vegetative state. She was in that condition for three years. Her friends who she thought were her pillars of support left her. Her boyfriend left her for her friend. What hurt her the most was that her family was breaking apart primarily because of her. She lost everything overnight. Everyone already anticipated her death and believed that she wouldn't recover. Why wouldn't they? The doctors said she was almost brain-dead. That was what they thought... In fact, Ashley knew everything. She was just trapped inside her own body. After three years of enduring, life gave her a chance. A silver streak that made her hope that everything would be fixed and she could go back to her once-perfect life. Instead, she is sent to another world. Only to come out of a box and serve as a prize for an annual tournament. More confusing was the fact that this world seemed to be a fantasy world were vampires, werewolves and other creatures dwelled. It was a world where humans never existed. ******* WFP #11: Bronze tier Note: This is a slow burn novel. Death Chase

Seeing Ashley finally leave the two of them, the woman slumped unto the asphalt road. She used up all her energy and couldn't help but grow weak to her knees. After all what's left to her was just one fourth of her original power and she even travelled from half across the globe to get here in just a short period of time.

She was in Mongolia earlier because she was following 'their' tracks. Though she knew that she almost annihilated them all, she wouldn't take any chances. Luckily she sensed his presence when he made the car explode. She instantly went her way to get here though it expended a lot of her strength.

She knew that she just needed a minute to regain her powers once more. It was longer than usual. It only took her at most ten seconds to do that before.

The man observed her weak figure and sensing that this was his big chance, with all his strength he pulled out the long piece of metal pierced in his body. He threw it off high up in the air as his body fell from its attachment to the tree. There was a huge hole in his chest. Blood mixed with black fluid leaked out of it. He bit his lips in annoyance at the sight. It was the evidence of his defeat.

The flesh was now slowly regenerating but it wasn't as fast as it did before. It wasn't possible for him to heal if the woman used the seal but that didn't happen. It was thanks to the human whose blood he drank in the taxi earlier. It gave him enough power to at least heal his wounds slowly.

He remembered what he did earlier before killing her. He didn't feel any remorse nor guilt. He did it so smoothly because it was what he always did to his victims.

He compelled the puny human so she didn't have the power to resist him. He wasn't really kissing the girl a while ago. It was just an illusion he concocted while they were inside the car. The truth was he sucked the life out of the driver first and waited for a passenger to arrive. That person would become his next victim.

The girl became the passenger and he did the same to her. He drained the blood out of the girl's small body. He didn't expect her to survive and still called for help. Good thing, she's dead now. He was sure she wouldn't still be alive after he smashed the car into bits.

But there was clearly another problem... the other girl.. She escaped.

His eyes darkened and he sneered. He disappeared into thin air. He went to the deep part of the forest. He needed to chase after her while 'she' is still weak. He sniffed the girl's scent. She wasn't far enough to reach the other side of the forest which leads to a small town.

His back protruded and out came a pair of black wings. He flew up instantly into the air and decided to chase after the girl. The woman cursed under her breath when she noticed him flying from far away. Just a few more seconds and she could chase after him.

However, she needed to be careful in consuming her powers for he could also steal it from her but he couldn't do that yet. He needed to drink more human blood or break a part from a human's soul to become more powerful. The woman stood up and disappeared with the wind.

Ashley was holding on for her dear life. As seconds passed, her body was getting colder and colder. She was shivering and shaking all over. She didn't even have enough strength to step on the pedal. She couldn't hold the steering wheel carefully and her eyes were blurry. All she could see with her hazy vision was the road. She didn't even know where she was heading she just kept on driving. She was scared. She knew she was near her death.

A thud resounded from the roof of her car. She glanced weakly at the top. At first it was faint until she heard a scratching sound of metal above her. It sounded like something was trying to pierce the roof of her car. It did the same thing over and over again. It got faster.

This time she completely turned her head to see what it was. It was a sharp white object. She paled instantly when she recognized what the object was. It was the strange man's fangs. He was above her car.

How did he escape? He was clearly no match for the woman moments ago.

She steeped on the pedal harder to increase her speed and moved her steering wheel left and right to shake off the creature above her car.

The strange man, noticing she was persistent in laying him off, grew impatient and started punching the roof of her car. Trying to make a big hole for him to fit in and instantly kill her. He currently didn't have the power to kill her with just a punch like what he did to the other car before. He was obviously weakened.

Ashley felt like she was in a thriller movie. No. This was worse because this was real. She tried her best to move the car left and right but he seemed to have stuck to the roof. He wasn't shaken off at all. There were  already holes with the size of the fist above her backseat. She realized what he was trying to do. He was trying to go inside the car.

Fear rushed to her head. She was feeling hopeless. She knew that if she escaped here. He would still find her and kill her. If she did. That was clearly impossible. She was seriously gonna die here. She can feel it. If she was gonna die then. This creature should die with her.

With a final turn to her steering wheel, the car was now turning around uncontrollably. The tires screeched and the engine of the car smelled burnt with the excessive gliding of the car. It was so unstable, they were already out of the road. They were heading towards a nearby tree.
