Mizuki was now living in a moderately sized apartment near her school. She had multiple bodyguards that were receiving quite the large salary so she was not afraid of losing her life before even getting married.... But.. "Human greed really is a vile thing. Is it not?" Now in another world where power decides everything human greed is not the biggest problem she will face. But bare in mind reader. Reincarnation is not that uncommon. (art ain't mine)

Sniper

"The fuck do you want old man? I'm busy."

The reactions of the surroundings were... hard to describe. The emotions that sat on the faces of the adventurers, soldiers and guild employees were diverse, though the prevalent emotion that overwrote most others was pure shock.

The disrespect from Mitsuna's question would be enough to have a person branded as a criminal and beheaded.

As the General sighed with disappointment present in both his voice and face, Mitsuna turned back to the Sandstone party with not a care in the world as she asked.

"So 30/70 I get 70 percent, right?"

Even with that question, the party that was staring at Mitsuna with widened eyes and shock still evident on their faces and didn't show even a hint of responding.

"Let's wrap it up quick then or else the old man is going to have an aneurysm."

Mitsuna just spoke calmly after standing up and shooting a gaze at Brandy who, after a quick moment, also stood and followed Mitsuna to reception.

The receptionist didn't speak a word as he split the money and distributed it. Grabbing and pocketing the coins of gold and platinum, she threw them into her inventory and turned back to the General who was simply standing there and waiting for her to finish her business.

"Yeah, I'm done here so what do you want? I did the test and passed."

Mitsuna walked to the General and looked up at him.

"You didn't use a gun..."

The General muttered to himself before following it up with another sigh.

"In any case... you did pass and I for one don't particularly care how. Though the examiner wasn't quite pleased."

"Uhuh."

The General grumbled at her lack of a proper answer and spoke once more.

"Mmmh. You will be sent a letter detailing the place where you will meet your squad, I will be there as well so do not think about skipping it."

"Yeah, yeah. I won't skip out on it."

Mitsuna brushed him off.

"So can I go? As I said, I'm busy."

"With what?"

The General asked with slight annoyance evident in his tone of voice.

"Haven't had a good nap yet. I need to go out for drinks and sleep for a good long while."

Mitsuna said matter-of-factly and with a carefree and slightly bored tone.

"...The letter will arrive during noon at the latest and the meet up will happen tomorrow at sunrise at the earliest. Though this all depends on outside factors."

The General spoke with finality, yet muttered the last sentence to himself mostly as he glanced out of the window with a tired expression.

"That's really great~."

Mitsuna said with a monotone voice as she just walked past the General without another word.

Yawning while lightly stretching her arms in the air, Mitsuna adjusted her glasses as she left the building and disappeared into the street.

The General could only watch her leave with a sigh and light frown before he glanced over at everyone present.

His eyes landed on Sandstone and narrowed at the sight of Brandy.

"I will be waiting for a detailed report as to what exactly you were speaking about and why."

The General spoke as he snapped his fingers and a soldier nearby handed Brandy a few papers and a pen.

"You have two days for a proper report to make it to my table."

He said as Brandy looked at the papers with wide shaking eyes and a shocked and depressed look on her face.

The General then left without another word to anyone there.

Back to Mitsuna, she was currently bargaining with Majo at Lemon's Dagger about the price of a good bottle of alcohol.

...

Sleeping peacefully on her bed without a care in the world, Mitsuna never even got a letter that specified the time or place she was supposed to go to, thus she put it off till later and slept like a baby.

Calm, warm and quiet. The sun had been up for a few hours but with the window closed and blocked off not a single beam of light reached into her room.

On her bed, along with herself and a few trinkets and thingamabobs she had invented, there were bullets, some daggers, a sword, a small shield and her gun. The melee weapons were purely black in colour just as Mitsuna had intended them to be as they were simply prototypes for the future.

Along with the seeable items, there was an unseeable... barely seeable stench of strong alcohol surrounding the bed and spreading further into each corner of the room with every passing moment.

A large bottle with barely five percent of the alcohol still inside and a spilt glass also sat on the bed.

She looked like she had quite a blast last night. Probably.

Turning a little below her blanket, her silent breaths filled the horribly managed room.

*Thud* *Thud* *Thud*

A loud knocking or rather something on the level of punching could be heard coming from the door to her room.

Opening her eyes slightly, Mitsuna stared forward as she came face to face with the blade of one of the knives she made last night.

Slowly blinking while staring at it in silence, she couldn't hear anything so she guessed that she could just go back to sleep and that is what she tried. Only for... *Thud* *Thud* *Thud*

Again. And louder this time.

Turning towards her door with a grumble. She stood up while holding her head.

"what time is it?"

She asked herself with a whisper before yawning and standing up.

Walking to the door, she opened it and peeked outside before closing it again.

Two reasons: the old man was on the other side and the strong light coming from outside her room was uncomfortable.

Rummaging around, she found her glasses and put them on as they helped slightly against bright lights just as well as they helped against darkness.

Back to the door, she opened it and peeked out, looking at the old man, the General as he stood there clearly annoyed and disappointed.

"What?"

"Sniper..."

The General grumbled out through gritted teeth.

"You skipped."

He spoke.

"Skipped? I wasn't invited. Never got the letter."

Mitsuna mumbled before yawning again and leaning on the wall next to her. The General, after a moment of silence, calmed himself down and silently clicked his tongue.

"So I missed it, huh? Too bad. I'll make it there next time... I'm going back to sleep."

Mitsuna mumbled as she was about to close the door.

"Wait right there, Sniper."

Looking down, there was a foot in the way.

And looking back at the General, Mitsuna gestured to him to speak with her eyes only.

"Take it as a verbal invite. At sundown. Northern Gate. Do. Not. Skip."

"Uhuh."

And with that, Mitsuna kicked the foot out of the way with a drunken force and closed the door, locking it behind her. Landing back on her bed, she continued to sleep for another hour but couldn't continue for much longer as just waking up once was enough to rid her of her desire to sleep.

Back on the other side of the door, moments after Mitsuna closed the door back up.

The General crouched down and removed his boot and sock that protected his foot. Cracking the toes that Mitsuna broke with her 'soft' drunken kick back into place with a grumble, the General soon stood back up.

Looking at Mitsuna's room in silence, he glanced at the next room on the left and then the room to the right.

Moving to the room on the right, he observed how there was a mark on the floor as the faint layer of dust near the door was disrupted.

Glancing under the door, the general could see dust and the faintest of outlines in the dark room that hadn't seemed to have been used in a while.

With a gentle wave of mana, the faint outline that he could see came out from below the door. It was a letter.

Picking it up with a grumble and clear annoyance, the General thought out loud.

"Someone is getting demoted."
