On an old continent, at the end of the world and below even the Southern continent.
An egg was cracking.
...
"Honey! The baby is just about to hatch! Get the f*ck over here!"
A woman with light blue, icy hair was peeking out from a crack in a large door.
The moment she yelled, the entire building and the surrounding environment shook.
"I'm coming as fast as I can!"
"Clearly not fast enough!"
Running around a corner, a man with light red hair was running at full speed.
"For the love of... I told you to increase your agility just in case this would happen!"
"I didn't have the time!"
"Exactly my point! If you were fast enough you would have the time! Now get in here before the child hatches and starts crying because they can't find their father!"
Slamming the door shut before the man could reach it, the woman locked the door.
"H- Honey!!!"
"I lied! This is what you get for not listening to your 'Honey' and being slow!"
"Come on dear please! I need to be there! What if it's a boy?!"
"Then the first memory they have will be of how their father didn't even come to see them hatch!"
"Aargghhh!! I apologize, I am sorry come on unlock this thing! You know I don't want to call that old man back here to fix it!"
"No!"
"You little-!"
"Oh look it's hatching!"
"Aarrgghhhh! Let me in! Let me inn!!"
The bickering people on opposite sides of the door were actually a married couple. They have been married for the past one or two hundred years.
This is just a once in a week spectacle when one is pouting. It happens pretty frequently.
Well, it seems there is now a need to introduce these two.
"Arghhh! I am going to kick it down!"
The light red-haired man.
Named Midithyr Ashen. He is from the old Lunar Ash Dragon clan. He has a toned and muscular figure. He is about 2 meters tall and surprisingly thin if you take his great physical strength into account. He has a Unique skill pertaining to his pure white irises and pupils. His hair goes into a ponytail which is completely ash grey in contrast to the light red colour of the hair on his head. He normally wears a dark red suit and has a lot of pride.
"If you do I'll completely bury you and every single one of your ancestors in a snowstorm!"
The light blue-haired 'maiden'.
Named Aryamis Fryede. She is from the clan of Frost Phoenixes. She has a slim figure, with a height of about 170cm. She is slightly lacking in her chest area but bountiful on her backside. She has a rare element that is an offshoot of Time. Her eyes are always frosty, her irises cyan and pupils white. She normally wears an outfit that resembles an extremely fancy school girl's outfit but with a colour scheme that has more black, white and cyan.
"Open the damn door!"
"Don't you speak that way to me! I'll use this cyan coloured tie to hang you by the neck naked at the shortest mountain on this world!"
"What is it with you and cyan!? And why the shortest?"
"People won't see you if I place you on the highest mountain will they!?"
"Just let me in! I at least want to be there!"
".... Fine! But only this once."
Aryamis used some magic and her husband appeared right next to her with one foot in the air, ready to kick.
"Uhh. I can explain?"
Looking in his wife's cold eyes, he sat down obediently and waited.
"Never even try that again."
"Yes, dear."
Although the bickering might seem over the top and more like fighting, the two still dearly want the best for each other and their children.
This is their second child so they will most definitely not be the heir of the house but nevertheless, it is their child.
Their first child named Jameson was born nearly 20 years ago so they are definitely excited.
As the traditions in the family go.
If the child is female they will learn from the mother and if the child is male they will learn from the father.
There are some more important traditions and rules that the child needs to follow but that can come later.
They were hatching.
...
'It is... warm? But also.. cold.'
Mizuki was still in the void, although it has been different for a while.
Temperature and sound can now travel within the void.
Mizuki's soul was slowly starting to take shape.
Her body is being constructed.
Mana was gathering around her.
'What is this weird water like stuff?'
Her body had taken shape and her gender... was the same.
'It's... suffocating.'
Feeling pain in her newly formed body, Mizuki squinted.
'It feels like knives are crawling out of my skin and my body is being burned and frozen at the same time.'
The pain was horrific.
'I need to get out of here.'
Trying to use her hands, Mizuki stretched them out.
Feeling a weird wall, Mizuki pushed harder.
Suddenly hearing a faint voice on the other side of the wall, Mizuki froze.
The wall had gotten stronger and the pain increased.
She did not know how long she had to endure but it felt like weeks, months. Maybe a year.
At last, Mizuki had gotten used to the pain that kept growing.
She again heard a faint voice from behind the wall.
She felt how it weakened a lot and she finally pushed with all her strength and broke through.
Her skin felt pain. It was like burning.
'Inside was better. It didn't hurt like this.'
The air on her body was almost like melted iron and liquid helium at the same time.
She crouched down in pain and started crying as any newborn would.
Aryamis picked up her daughter and placed a warm blanket of mana over her.
"Ah. She is here."
"She lasted a lot longer than I thought. A shame she wasn't a boy though."
"You shut up. We just got an amazing daughter. Jameson lasted for just a day within the egg."
"But he does have potential!"
"Of course he does. He is our child just as much as she is."
Looking at his daughter, Midithyr thought for a second.
"We should get that old man to appraise her."
"That can wait. I want to spend some time with her."
"Of course dear."
"Now go run 7 laps around the continent. Your punishment for trying to kick down another door."
"Huh?"
"Did you not hear me?"
"*Sigh* this is why I am late to almost everything you know."
"Start. Running."
"Yes, dear..."
With Midithyr running another 7 laps today, Aryamis walked to her bedroom and lied down.
Looking at the child in her arms that had fallen asleep, she muttered.
"I think I'll name you... Mitsuna."
She then joined her daughter and went to sleep.
