"There is one thing that we need to do though." Makai looked at me with a serious expression on his face. "This is more of a kindness since you're eighteen now, but we need to ask your parents if you can live with me for the next week or so until you figure all of this out."

"And you think they will just let this happen?" I glared at him, thinking about how protective my mom was of me. I couldn't imagine her letting that happen at all.
