CHAPTER 4-MYSTERY
"I don't have an appetite for food! Just let me be,and close the door behind you! One more thing,tell my sons to see me immediately they are done with lunch! you may go now!
"Okay your majesty! Shannon bowed,before exiting the room like Lora commanded.Prince Adrian stormed into the room after Shannon.Shannon bowed slightly as she bummed into Adrian on her way out,but Adrian totally ignored her,and jolted into the room.Lora's sight was fixated on the ceiling,and she didn't even realize Adrian had walked in.Adrian sat besides her and sighed deeply.He coughed slightly, trying to pull her out of thought.Her gaze immediately drifted from the ceiling to the silver haired prince sitting besides her.Lora adjusted to a sitting position immediately, and wiped off the tear in her eyes.There was an eerie moment of silence filled in the room.Adrian looked like he didn't know what to say or perhaps how to say it. He stared intensely at Lora and bowed his head in distraught.It was certainly unlike Adrian to be speechless over anything,but the case was different this time.Lora unleashed hot streams of tears as she stared back at Adrian. Adrian quickly tucked her hand in his,and beemed a fake and faint smile at her.Lora unknowingly stared into his navy grey eyes for a minute,and couldn't help but wonder why he was acting sweet and caring to her all of a sudden.Adrian never cared about anything or anyone,except the throne and king Reginald. He was always void of feelings and emotions.He never showed an atom of care or love for anyone including his own mother. He shows respect for her, as well as all of his siblings,but that was it. He never sympathized,cared or even showed love to any of them.His face was emotionless in every situation,but today was different. His eyes were filled with pity,sympathy and worry! He smiled at her again,and held her hand tighter! "Everything will be okay Lora" he chanted whilst wiping off the tears on her cheeks.
"Everything will be okay,you say? How? My son is having an endless horrifying dream,and a psycho came in here,saying bullshit of how I wasn't the mother of my son,and how he sense danger around him,and you sit down here saying, everything is going to be okay? I don't understand anything! Nothing makes sense anymore,and I'm losing my mind and sanity. What is a beauty of goddess and how does she know my son? Sigh!
"I understand how you feel Lora,and trust me when I say,I'm as confused as you are! After I left the throne room earlier,I called a friend of mine that lives on the island. I narrated your situation to him,and he recommended a book for me to read.I was lucky enough to find the book at the library,and i just finished reading it. I think I might know the solution to the problem.
Lora adjusted her body on the bed,and wiped off the tear threatening to roll off her cheeks.She wore a confused,hopeful and sad look. Her thoughts were running wild,and so were her eyes.She stared at Adrian closely,like she wanted to milk the information he had from his irises. Adrian in return,examined her reaction intensively,fully aware of what she was going through,but intensionally refused to give her the information she desperately needed. For some odd reasons,he actually smiled at her miserable state.Lora's eyes were asking a thousand questions,but her lips were tight shut.
"A friend? book? solution? please tell me! What's the solution? what do I need to do? Lora managed to ask.
"According to the book,they is a very dangerous demon that resides in the Caribbean shore.The demon is ruthless and very dreadful.It hunts for the souls of innocent children and teenagers.You are safe and protected,so long as you don't go near his territory.He usually comes out and hunt for souls when it's exactly 7pm. If you're anywhere near the shores of the Caribbean,the he will succeed in creeping into your body,and from that day you will start experiencing eerie nightmares.The nightmares will generate into physical torment and eventually madness.He will use your most treasured desire against you,and eventually kill you, then carry on to the next victim.Lucian is still at the early stage of his plot,so we can still stop the demon from killing him. You need to take Lucian back to the Caribbean. He needs to get water from the shore,and mix it with garlic then throw it into an ocean.The demon is surrounding him with bad energy. Didn't you notice the seer wasn't making sense at all earlier? it was because,he was influenced by the demon. We shouldn't allow Lucian sleep with salt in his mouth,or we will create a pathway for the demon to kill him faster. The only thing Lucian has to do,asides returning to the Caribbean is to sleep in a totally dark room,with a single lighted red candle.That's all that needs to be done,for all these to become a thing of the past.
Lora's eyes were darting about,and her head seemed crowded. She couldn't stare at Adrian anymore. She was panicking inside,and a lot of negotiations were going on between her and her thoughts. She entwined her fingers and let out a deep breath,she had no idea she was holding!
"Demons?? Are they even real? aren't they just fairy tales we were told growing up,just to scare us?Are demons even real? If they is a book about such a demon, then why didn't people just kill it? and how did your friend know so much about the demon? I never told you or any member of this family about our little vacation to the Caribbean,so how did your friend just assume that it was the Caribbean demon that was after Lucian,for him to suggest that book?Lucian was undoubtedly close to the shore,but he was fine afterwards.He didn't act strange or unusual,untill we got home.so I don't understand!
"Oh Lora! Inquisitive and naive as always! Demons are very real Lora! Just like humans,they are bad and good demons.They live in a world of their own. The Caribbean demon is part of the bad ones. My friend had an uncle who was a ghost Hunter. His uncle usually travelled around to hunt for ghost,and that was how he came about the Caribbean demon.He narrated everything I just told you to my friend,and my friend told me about it,some dating years back. I laughed it off,and called him and his uncle delusional. Lucian's nightmare made me recall about the incidence,and I knew I had to call him right away. Doing everything I asked Lucian to do, won't kill the demon. it will only drive if far away from him. People in the Caribbean use this method to stay protected from the demon.Stop asking questions and save my nephews life. Don't allow father hear about it, okay!
"It all makes sense now! I will do everything within my power to save my son's life.I will do as you've just said! I will off the light in his room tonight,and personally lit up a red candle.We will travel to the Caribbean next week. I will get everything in order.How do I stop father from giving him salt? and how will I make Lucian sleep in the dark room?Ever since robbers attacked us at night,ten years ago,Lucian has developed nyctophobia! How do I go about it?......
"How can Lucian have nyctophobia,when he's from the people of the night! Don't worry about it, once father administers the salt to Lucian and walks out of lucian's room,we will have Lucian spit out the salt.You are lucian's mother,and I'm sure Lucian will listen to you.You will make him understand that the salt is bad for him.Once he falls deeply asleep,then we will off the lights and lit up the candle.It's as simple as that!
"That could work! Thank you very much! Wait,why did you say Lucian is from the people of the night?Lora asked curiously!
"He's a Man,and men shouldn't be afraid of the dark. Have you ever seen a man runaway from darkness? we challenge it,and discover it! Every man is from the people of the night!
"You're right! I have been trying my best to help him get over his phobia,but it's just not working.Thank you so much for helping me! You're the least person I expected help from.Thank you for caring! I owe you one!
"C'mon what are family for? Just because I don't show that I care, doesn't mean I don't! I will take my leave now! I have to attend a ball held by the prince of Zyanus.I will see you when I get back!
"You will make a fine King,Adrian! Thank you for your help! You've just lifted a huge pain from my heart! bye! I will see you tonight!
"Take care! I will see you when I get back! Adrian said and headed for the door.Lora watched his figure exit her room,and she felt light headed again. The same way she felt when he walked in earlier. Although she had no idea when he walked in,but a minute before she realized he was in her room,she felt dizzy and lightheaded.Adrian seemed strangely different today! Lora jumped out of bed and headed to the bathroom.She washed her face with Luke warm water,and gushed out of the bathroom immediately.She dabbed her face with a little towel afterwards,and headed for the double door.She was about gushing out of her room,when she bummed into Lucian.He was dressed in the exact same black regalia,that she saw Adrian in a moment ago.Why will Lucian be matching with Adrian? not like it's a bad thing,but Adrian hates matching with people,expecially family members.Lora took three steps back into the room,to enable Lucian in. Lucian scanned the whole room with his eyes,as though it was his first time being there.He walked pass his mum,and ushered himself into a seat.He entwined his hands,and placed his jaw on them.He scanned his mother from head to toe before speaking!
"Good afternoon mum! Why didn't you have lunch with us? You haven't had anything since morning! Do you want to fall ill? Let's go downstairs,I will ask the chef to make a nice dish for you.Stop worrying about what the seer said,mum! I promise you,I will be fine! If the salt works for me,then I promise to always sleep with it in my mouth,then we wouldn't have to visit any goddess of the west.stop troubling your self over nothing!
Lora stared into his teared up eyes for a while,and a smile curled up her lips.She walked up to him,and knelt infront of him.She held his hands and planted a kiss on his cheeks.
"I'm not hungry son! Infact, I'm really happy.I have found the solution and cause to the nightmares you've been having. I know what you need to do for it to go away! Don't believe all those scraps the seer was saying earlier.I will tell you the cause and solution right away,but you first have to promise me,that you wouldn't get scared!
Lucian's eyes lit up immediately! He held into his mother's hands tighter and flashed a surprising smile at her!
"You've found the cure?Thank you so much mother! I promise mum! I promise not to get scared at all!
Lora sat besides Lucian and narrated everything his uncle had told her.She told him everything,and he flashed series of questions at her.He argued that his uncle was with him through out lunch,and urged him to sleep with salt in his mouth,but Lora concluded that he was just fooling him.After much deliberation and convincement,Lucian decided to do as he was told.He thought about it for a minute,and saw reasons,that it was after his trip to the Caribbean that the dream started occuring,so it was safe to say his uncle was right.He felt more relaxed and hugged his mother tightly.From his reaction,one could tell he was happy and hopefull!He begged to take his leave, because Celia and Johnny were waiting for him at the ranch.
"Thank you,once again mum! I will have to go now! Celia and Johnny are patiently waiting for me at the ranch!
"No problem son! Run along,and I will see you both later!
"Okay mum! See you later! Lucian said and took five steps towards the exit,before he turned back Abruptly and said "Thank you so much for the outfit mum! "I look so princely in it! Get Johnny one also,he was jealous and mad at you earlier! He took another step,before Lora commanded him to stop!
"Outfit? When did I get you this outfit? I never bought this? So what are you saying? Lora inquired with confusion written all over her face.
"Your maid,Fiona gave them to me.She said you bought it specifically for me,and I had to wear it right away.They must be a mix up somewhere. If you didn't get them for me,then who did? or Maybe it was meant for someone else!
"It could be from your uncle! I saw Adrian wearing the same outfit a while ago. Maybe he decided to match with you! Isn't that awesome?
"Uncle Adrian? Mum are you sure about this? I think you should get some rest, and relax your head! I have been with uncle Adrian since,and he was putting on nothing similar to this.He admired my regalia when I put it on,and he said he would verify from you, where you got it from.He said the stones on them are ancient.
"Are you insinuating that I'm going mad or maybe lying? Your uncle came here a while ago,in the same regalia.He headed out to the ball held by the prince of zyanus after that.Maybe he changed from the attire you saw him in,and wore this one for the ball.
"Yeah! He mentioned about the ball earlier,and I recalled him saying his designer was surprising him with a new design today.Why didn't he just gift it to me directly? I could have thanked him!
"Your uncle is kind of an introvert. He likes keeping to himself, most of the time.Maybe he had his designer make matching outfits for both of you,and asked Fiona to deliver yours.He must know you really love them,for you to be putting them on right away!
"I love it so much mum! It's in my favourite colour too! I will thank uncle Adrian later! I will be on my way now mum! See you later! Lucian said and walked away.
Lora smiled and walked out from her room also.She headed for the small cottage at the back of the garden house.She walked slowly,yet elegantly to the cottage.The air was soothing,and she was enjoying every breathe of it.She was still far from the cottage,when she suddenly saw an expensive and luxurious car carriage drive into the palace.You need no soothsayer to tell you,the owner was a wealthy Lord or Duke.Lora watched from afar,as the guards opened the car,and a beautifully dressed woman,with a charmingly young man alighted.She took a clearer glance,and found the couple familiar.The curly grey hair of the charming man looked familiar.It was as though she had seen him somewhere before.She walked closer to the place they were standing,and was shocked to the core, after she realized the charming young man was none other than prince Louis.She felt ashamed, and thankful that he didn't see her.She looked closely again,and almost ran out of breathe. Was her sight deceiving her? It was certainly Allicia standing in front of her.Allicia looked beautiful and outstanding. After she left ALDEHEN,she didn't hear from prince Louis,neither did she hear about him again. The last time she saw Allicia,her bestfriend was on the day of Prince Louis's coronation as crown prince.She and Allicia had a heated argument at the coronation party. She informed Allicia about her pregnancy,and Allicia wasn't having it. Allicia was against her relationship with Cecerio from onset. Allicia kept reminding her of how much Prince Louis loved her.She was rooting for Prince Louis,and kept begging her to stay away from Cecerio,but she didn't listen.How I wish she had listen,I would have probably be in a better place now. Should she feel hurt? or maybe betrayed? Did Allicia really betray her by marrying prince Louis? Why is she feeling heartbroken and pained by seeing them together? They really look happy together! What could they be doing in the palace? Are they here to mock her? Well if they are,she wasn't going to give them the liberty of seeing her heartbroken.She won't let them see her.Prince Louis looks more ravishing and handsome than he was eighteen years ago. Allicia wasn't as beautiful as Lora was,when they were younger,but she looks more beautiful than Lora right now. They entwined their hands and giggled as they entered the palace.The sight was too heartbreaking for Lora to see,so she ran towards the cottage.She was sobbing whilst running,when a hand suddenly gripped her wrist.When she turned to see who it was,she was greeted by the face of Fiona. Fiona pulled her close,and gave her a tight hug.Lora returned the hug,with a tighter one.Lora loosened from the embrace,and wiped off the tear from her face.She gave Fiona a faint smile and decided to change the topic. She wasn't ready to be reminded about the past.
"Uhm,The clothes you handed to Lucian earlier,claiming they were from me,who was it truly from? Lora inquired!
"Clothes? I didn't give anything to Lucian! Maybe it was from another maid, and certainly not me!
"Hmmmmm! That's strange! He specifically mentioned you,and I'm sure he wouldn't be mistaken.If it wasn't you,then who? I'm so confused!
