A Very Normal . . .

*** I'm rewriting this novel, so check out "How About Heresy?" It's this but better! Jeffrey's a very 'normal' individual who lives in quite the extra ordinary world or perhaps one can say it is an abnormal world... "Cultist!" Was he talking to me? "Nah, I'm no cultist," he says while he cripples a man. "YoU FieND!" "Woah, calm down there bud," "Die!" He yells, slashing his sword down. ... By day, there's four fresh bodies for the lord to hold. This is not a slice of life, though at first, it may not seem a bit boring, wait till you get to volume two. :)

A Very Normal Lizard

His goal for coming to all these market days at the local village was to do what his father never accomplished…

To find a wife.

But never did the very normal farmer, Jeffrey expect to find some kind of lizard… thing.

It looked very threatening being at least three houses tall and as its long neck loomed over Jeffrey it felt taller.

It glared at Jeffrey.

Maybe it was angry at having its meal interrupted? Jeffrey thought.

This theory made sense, Jeffrey would be quite vexed as well if he was enjoying a hearty meal only to be interrupted by a tiny man on a tiny horse.

The pressure around Jeffrey seemingly started to increase. The horse was going ballistic, despite Jeffrey's "wholehearted" attempts at calming it down.

Judging it to be too dangerous to continue staying on the horse, Jeffrey dismounted.

As soon as he did so, the horse started to galavant as if it sniffed some hallucinogenic shrooms, and frothed at the moth before collapsing.

It was dead. Or it could have fainted.

At least Jeffrey hoped it fainted, a normal run of the mill farmer such as himself would find it difficult to raise another horse.

And thus, Jeffrey clasped his hands together in solemn silence as he silently prayed that his horse, named… horsie, may live.

All this happened under the searing gaze of the dragon.

This dragon never expected to see such a "fearless" villager.

To be able to withstand its tremendous pressure as a red dragon was beyond this adolescent dragon's expectations. Having little experience in the world, it only knew that everything would usually just bow to its presence.

The dragon was known for its scorching flames and unfathomable pressure second only to the black dragons. A red dragon.

This villager also seemed to be making some kind of vow or passing on ritual as the villager stared silently at the ground.

"Hoh, little human, do you want to avenge for friends, exact retribution for your family.

Hah! Do you truly think you can defeat me, with your measly strength!"

The dragon was thoroughly amused and thought to play with this human.

After hearing this, Jeffrey was thoroughly bewildered.

Where did that voice come from?

And what language was it speaking?

Jeffrey could understand the intent, though could not understand the exact words.

This was the draconic language. A magical language which can only be utilised by dragons and their descendants. The words themselves are magical, capable of evoking extraordinary effects, and one such effect, being that all races can innately understand the intent behind such words. Other times, some would use the draconic language as a substitutionary medium for spell casting and such, bending the laws of the world.

After looking around, he pinpointed the source of the sound.

It came from the big lizard.

Who could've known that lizards can speak?

Maybe when they get big enough they gain the ability to speak?

Jeffrey was no scholar, but he could at least put two and two together and accept the situation even if it sounded a little unrealistic.

Unfortunately, the dragon mistook Jeffrey's silent pondering as some sort of grieving.

"Hah, if you continue to laze about you might be supper next." The dragon mocked, hoping to incite some sort of entertaining reaction from the little villager.
