You Sound Like A Rat

Three more days passed, making it one day more before the grande parté.

Valerio spread his arms as Everly adjusted his shirt.

She buttoned it up and smiled as she altered his hair, which was, as usual, wrapped up in a bun.

"Perfect." She smacked her lips and interlocked her hand with his.

Together, they walked downstairs and made their way out of the building.

They strolled towards the car, where Alex was already waiting patiently. He pulled the doors open for them, and they stepped inside.

He took his position in the driver's seat and started the car's engine.

He put the car in reverse and drove out of the compound onto the road.

"Where exactly are we going, Sir Avalanzo?" Everly turned her head to look at Valerio with curiosity in her green eyes.

"My company," Valerio replied in a neutral tone. "I told you I would take you to get whatever dress you want, didn't I?" He asked, and immediately realizing this, Everly covered her mouth with her hands.

'Wait a damn minute! He actually meant his company? Wow!'

Valerio's company was the highest and most expensive brand, to the extent that you had to pay huge sums of money to buy materials from his company.

Never in her life had she even dreamt of getting to see those expensive, glorious clothes, jewelry and so much more.

Even though his products were really, really expensive, like heavily expensive, people were always willing to purchase them.

I mean, she honestly can't deny the fact that his products were the best of all. No wonder he ranked first in everything.

She quickly fanned herself to subdue her excitement and cleared her throat.

 ...

It took four hours plus a few long minutes before they arrived at the company.

Alex turned the steering wheel and drove into the huge parking lot.

He stepped down from the car and yanked the doors open for them.

Valerio and Everly stepped down, and Everly held Valerio by the arm as her eyes gaped at the huge, magnificently carved logo at the very top of the huge building.

The company's name is "Dainty Lily."

"Let's go," Valerio said to her, and together they began to saunter towards the glass door, with Alex following behind them.

Alex pushed the glass door open once they reached it, and they stepped in.

All the eyes of the employers and customers immediately turned and fell on them.

Confused by their deep stare, Everly darted her eyes around, unable to comprehend why some of them were looking at her as if they would eat her alive if they had the chance.

A frown appeared on her face, and she followed the line of the gaze of one of the customers, that stopped on her hand, which was interlocked with Valerio's hand.

"Oh…." She muttered, seeming to have realized what was wrong.

'So that's the problem.Well, I might as well enjoy this moment.' She thought and abruptly wrapped her arm around Valerio's arm, causing everyone's eyes to widen in disbelief.

One thing they knew for sure, especially his employers, was that Valerio disliked being touched.

Even if you were speaking to him, he preferred that whoever that was stay at least five feet away from him.

He only allows closeness when it comes to people he considers important.

As they thought about this, perplexity became visible on their faces.

Valerio, who obviously heard what Everly had thought, shook his head in amusement.

"Let's go. Just ignore them." He whispered to her, and Everly nodded.

They strolled towards the escalator, which took them up to the second floor.

They walked towards the elevator and stepped inside.

It carried them far up to the seventh floor, which was not even the highest floor, and they came out once the door was pushed open.

"This is the first VIP closet in my company." Valerio suddenly spoke.

"Closet?"  A bit bewildered, Everly turned her head to look at him.

"Yes, I call it my company's VIP closet, because every single product in here is not accessible by anyone else except me. They are all special and could never be put up for sale." He clarified.

"What? If that is so, then why are we here? I thought-"

"Pick whatever dress and shoes you want. Anything you want." He waved his hand at her and ordered Alex to step out of the room.

Alex nodded obediently and left the room, closing the door afterward.

Valerio sat down on the sofa and crossed his legs.

Everly, who was overwhelmed by so many expensive things in the room, clutched her heart.

"Oh…my god…" She fluttered her eyes and swallowed.

"Are you going to pick something or not?" Irritated by the fact that she was just standing there, pondering heavily in her mind what to pick, Valerio suddenly spoke in a high tone, startling her.

"S-sorry." She quickly apologized and took a deep breath.

She strolled towards the racks, which had different sets and styles of dresses hanging on them.

Her hands touched almost each of them as she walked past them.

"Hmm..." Her eyes narrowed into a thin line as she noticed a dazzling dress in the color, a darker green.

She quickly picked it out and looked at it, instantly falling in love with it.

"So pretty!!!" She squeaked, and Valerio chuckled.

"You sound like a rat when you are excited." He blurted out, and Everly immediately turned around to look at him.

"I will pretend like I didn't hear that, for the moment." She scoffed and returned her attention to the dress.

"You must like that dress..." Valerio folded his arms as he suddenly spoke.

"I do, it's so beautiful," Everly agreed dreamily.

"Do you mind telling me how the dress looks?" He inquired, and Everly nodded.

"Well, it's green in color. But the darker shade of green, and it has only one arm. It is floor-length. But has a cut-through that extended all the way to the thigh. Though it stops right there. Hmm, it's sparkly too." She explained.

Valerio, who looked as though he was a bit shocked, shifted his gaze to the direction her voice was coming from.

"Wow. I never knew you liked such things." An awkward expression emerged on his face.

A scowl immediately ensued on Everly's countenance, and she spread her arms akimbo.

"Hey! What exactly do you think I am? Some kind of nerd?" She asked, actually offended.

"Hey, slow down. That's not what I meant. I just never thought so because of your personality." He cleared his throat.

"Does one's personality have to do with what they wear? Who doesn't like beautiful things, Huh?" Still not having it, Everly questioned.

Knowing he wouldn't get out of such a mess if he kept answering, Valerio took a deep breath and half smiled at her.

"Everly, grab a shoe and everything else you need; let's go, okay?" He said gently to her, and Everly's eyes scowled at him before she moved to the shoe section to select a heel.
