Noblesse Oblige
I sighed deeply, feeling frustrated about hearing all these noblemen's yammering. I'm already in a dilemma about Adelaide's past as a princess, and now I have to deal with this sh*t.
Now I know why the emperor wants me to become a Marchioness. If I remained a woman with no status, they'd eventually question my origins and consider me a spy from the Salacia Empire in the pretense that I was sold to the Marquess.
While listening to how they spoke to the emperor, I realized how lucky I was that the nobles I interacted with were kind-hearted. Unlike these old geezers who spout nothing but their greed, those I've met are the actual saviors of this empire.
This was supposed to be a summit to discuss recent occurrences, but why are they so hung up on my title as a Marchioness? Is it because I'll have a higher rank than them?
