The day at the office was going slowly and quietly for Vee. She felt weird that Blake had heard her discussion with Easton. And throughout the day she kept to herself; not going into Blake's office and not asking him to explain things to her.
She glanced through the walls at Blake once in a while, and each time, he wasn't looking back at her. But she couldn't help still looking over to see if he would finally return her gaze.
Ray had called Vee to ask for a date and she accepted, only because she wanted to be in a place that her boss wasn't. She was arranging her desk when Blake came out of the office.
"You going out for lunch?"
Vienna looked up at him. He still had that bored expression on his face and he didn't look like he was inviting her to have lunch with him.
"Yeah. I'm going out with Ray." She waited for him to speak but when he just stood still staring back at her, she picked up her phone and purse.
"So, you and West huh?" Blake asked as Vee stood from her chair.
Vee swallowed. She didn't expect him to ask about Easton. "Uh, it's really nothing serious" She stared at her phone as she spoke.
"Sure it isn't" Blake said and the next second Vee's phone was out of her hand.
She stared at him in shock and disbelief. "What are you doing?" She tried to reach for her phone but Blake raised his hand away from her reach.
'Is this guy playing keep away with me?' Vee asked herself. She could have sworn she saw a smile on his face but she quickly discarded the thought and glared at him.
"No phones during office hours. You'll get this at the end of the day" Blake finally put the phone in his pockets and left, leaving Vienna speechless.
"That's not a rule!" She shouted even though she wasn't sure Blake heard her. She didn't understand what was wrong with this boss of hers. Taking her phone even when he knew fully well that they were on a lunch break. She wondered if Blake was really that obsessed with her dating life. Why then did he take her phone? She didn't answer him rudely... right? She sighed and sat back down on her seat. Blake wasn't Phina or Camy or Leon or her parents, he was her boss so she couldn't do anything about him taking her phone. She just had to wait till closing hours.
Vienna waited for a long while but Blake didn't come back till 4pm, the closing hour. He entered with Ray who gave her a questioning look as she glared at Blake.
"Hey I thought you were not feeling well" Ray asked as he looked from Vienna to Blake.
Now it was Vienna's turn to look at Blake questioningly. Was that what he had told Ray? Such a nice friend, she mocked. She gave a small smile as she imagined herself in a higher position than Blake, and wiping that bored look from his face, replacing it with tears.
'You sound like an evil psychopath. Wake up girl!' her subconscious brought her back from her thoughts. For once her evil subconscious was actually doing a good thing, she hadn't even realized Blake was handing her her phone.
"It is a rule. No phones as long as you're in this office"
So he had heard her. She rolled her eyes, not minding whether he noticed it. And then she rushed out because Leon was already calling.
Leon looked happy as Vee entered the car.
"Why are you smiling?" She asked.
"Oh you know, work is fun" Leon sighed with a small smile.
Vienna was intrigued. Leon was smiling? And not just because he saw her in a skirt, but he was actually smiling. She couldn't help but want to know more so she bounced happily on the seat and leaned closer to him.
"What's making you so excited? Is it a girl?" Her heart hurt as she asked the question but she ignored it.
"No it is not Anna" Leon went back to his straight-faced look and started the car.
She decided not to bother him again and just enveloped herself in her own thoughts till they got home.
The house was empty as they both entered. Vee guessed that her parents had gone out, and quite early, seeing as there was no food to heat up in the fridge.
"There's no food Leon" Vienna wailed childishly as she looked in the empty fridge.
"So? Cook."
Vienna looked at Leon sitting comfortably on the sofa. "I can't cook" she said with gritted teeth. Ofcourse this guy knew that, he just wanted to tease her.
"You can't? Still? Are you still afraid of the cooker? Leon chuckled, his hand under his chin as he stared at her. "Stop looking at me like that" he said when Vee continued glaring at him. "You look adorable"
Vee blinked at him as he stood and walked to her at the counter. Just when she tries to bury her feelings, he comes saying stuff like that. She began to remember her erotic dream and shivered at the thought of it.
"You're still afraid of the cooker?" Leon shook his head and threw Vee an apron.
When Vienna was much younger, she and Leon made their first time cooking as a contest; who was to make the best dish ever. Vienna had been excited to beat Leon because she always believed that girls could cook better than boys. But on the day she wanted to prepare her dish, she had, without any skill, left the cooker on for sometime and when she turned on the lighter, it almost blew up in her face. It was her dad that had saved her that day, protecting her face with his back just in time before the fire blew up, and he got a scar for that. The scar still hadn't left and she was always terrified, wondering what would have happened to her face had her dad not showed up in the nick of time. Ever since, she kept off cookers and their sort.
"Just order pizza Leon. Or Chinese takeout, I'm craving wonton soup right now" she gave a cheeky smile.
"Apron. Now" Leon ordered as he turned on the cooker and placed a pot on it.
"Stupid Leon trying to be the boss of me" she mumbled as she tied the apron.
"Anna" Leon almost yelled and let out a laugh. "You don't even know how to tie an apron?"
She looked down at herself. She had worn it the wrong way and was now tying the ropes at her tummy instead of her back. She didn't realize she had done that. Was she really that lost in thought? Now Leon was going to tease her non-stop.
"I-"
Before she could continue Leon had already walked behind her and removed the apron. He was now tying it in the right place. Everything seemed to move in slow motion as Leon tied the ropes of the apron.
Vienna was feeling hot all over and everywhere seemed darker. Maybe it was because of Leon's height blocking the light from the bulb from reaching her, but it looked darker still.
"Don't hold your breath Anna" Leon leaned in and whispered in her ears.
She let out a breath she didn't know she was holding and turned to face him but he pulled the ropes to himself and her back was suddenly on his rock hard chest.
"I said not to move" Leon gritted out. He then moved back a little and tied the ropes successfully. He stepped further away from her, asif to access his art of rope tying.
Vienna sighed in frustration, this guy again. She wanted to look back but then an evil idea and a smile to suit it came to her. "Quit staring at my ass Leon" she huffed and sashayed her hips purposely as she walked to the cupboard. She stood on her toes and wiggled a little, pretending to be looking for ingredients.
Leon swallowed and Vienna smirked in victory. "We're cooking pasta" Leon coughed out and Vienna picked out the discomfort in his voice.
They cooked together; well mostly Leon. Vienna just stood at the counter, cutting the veggies and watching him. It was fun cooking together and at the end of it, the food came out better than Vee expected. She didn't know Leon could cook but she also wasn't going to admit it to him.
They ate in comfortable silence and Vienna decided to clean up afterwards. She later joined Leon on the sofa in the living room and they had a long peaceful rest.
.
"Honey! Look!" Sasha exclaimed as they entered into the house.
Mr and Mrs Devel had come back late in the night to meet Leon and Vienna sleeping together on the sofa. Vienna's head was rested on Leon's chest and his arm was around her.
"I'm taking a picture and calling Mary!" Sasha squealed and entered into the kitchen.
"Do you think they had sex?" Frank asked with wide eyes.
"That would be terrific!" Sasha came out of the kitchen and fished out her phone from her bag. "But I don't think so. The dishes are unwashed."
"You think Vee cooked?" Frank went behind Vienna and Leon and posed as his wife took pictures.
"Alright now wake them" Sasha chuckled "I want to capture the look on their faces" she held her phone in anticipation.
Frank stood in front of them and tapped Vee's shoulders. "Sweetie. Vee. Wake up darling"
Vee stirred and groaned. Frank and Sasha looked at each other in admiration before facing the two.
"Vienna" Frank called again in a sing-song tune.
Vee opened her eyes slowly, trying to adjust to the brightness of the room. When her eyes fully opened and she was met with her dad's bulgy eyes, she jumped back in shock, unintentionally landing in Leon's laps.
"Dad!" She screamed.
Leon woke up and looked around at Sasha and Frank. And then his eyes widened in surprise as he looked at Vienna sitting on him.
