A Thousand Worlds

A not so average life ends, and a second one begins. A chance to redeem? Nahhhhhh, a chance to live out dreams would be a more apt description! But as with all, a simple man living out his dreams isn't quite the best of the best, nor the most of entertaining. A chat group (a certainly peculiar one) has been thrown into the mix as well. ==== Find extra chapters at: p@treon.com/stoned_face

Over? What?

(A/N: I may or may not be drunk.)

Norfolk, England,

Some Distance Off Norwich,

Samuel POV,

A silver haired teenager sat at a beach, his shoes placed to the side and the waves slowly brushing past his bare feet.

"You're a real weird one..." Runeas Gremory, complained with her hands at her waist, what was he doing just staring off into the sea with dead eyes?

"The Bat is the weird one..... Calm is... nice." Ophis, who had been using one of Samuel's legs as a seat, spoke slowly and calmly, the Dragon God did understand that something was off about this human. She'd left for a bit and the sense of calm ended after a certain point, that meant there was something about him.

In response, Runeas could only grumble in silence, kicking up sand with small kicks, "It's just sand and water..."

"Yeah, really neat." Samuel answered in an unusually lax voice, his feelings were a complete mess at the moment so this was the best he could muster.

However, this peace wasn't for long.

His phone started buzzing incessantly prompting Samuel to open it in due haste and checking what the hell was wrong with it.

[Ohkwang: Did you accomplish two? Quite bold of you... For this instance however, I praise your efforts.]

Samuel paused for a bit, tilting his head in minor confusion, what did he do exactly? It was pretty easy to understand what the Jade Emperor was referring to but, he didn't understand how.

So, he checked and there it was. Apparently, the mission listed as, 'Change the course of the very world for some time to come', was now completed..... Samuel tilted his head even further, minor confusion turning to major one.

He looked at Ophis for a moment before, "How long do you plan on accompanying me?" Samuel had a strange expression on his face, did he just... Did he just completely fuck up the canon DxD plot without doing anything major?

"Till... you die." The Dragon God's answer was short and could have multiple meanings depending on those that read it. Ophis did accompany him for a while after all and if what happened in canon, after she'd made some friends, was anything to go by then.....

'Bye Bye, Khaos Brigade. I'll try to forget your existence to the best of my ability.'

"Oh my." Runeas placed a hand over her mouth, slightly gasping, was she looking at what she thought she was looking at here?

"And, what about quiet?"

"....?" Ophis looked at Samuel with a confused gaze, "Not necessary."

'...Congratulations. You made a child obsessed with you.'

"That's an overstatement."

'And that's a Dragon. They take what they feel like taking, remember?'

"Wait a second, what if I don't like you?" Samuel tried to salvage the situation.

"....And that matters, why?"

Runeas snickered nearby, barely holding herself back from laughing up a storm at what was happening. Dragons were really strange creatures...but, she expected this much.

"..." Samuel facepalmed, sighing deeply before carefully placing Ophis on the ground and standing up. Why was so much shit happening? And what the hell was going on? Hadn't they been talking for like only a few days now?

'A week or two.'

Yeah, a week or two? So what the hell was this? Yes, he understood she was mentally a child but what...... This made no fucking sense.

'Welcome to DxD.'

Echidna was having her own fun.

"Yeah no, I'm definitely misreading the situation." The silver haired teenager massaged his temple, taking in deep breaths. First of all, how was he supposed to react to this? He did want to say no outright, as was his way, because he wasn't 'deserving' and all but that wall in itself had been smashed down by the Witch of Greed.

So yes, Samuel now had a whole new set of conflicts to manage.

What about Amou then? She'd been after him for a while.... He couldn't deny he was attracted to Echidna either..... "Ah, fuck this." Samuel just walked away, not at the casual and relaxed pace but rather at a far faster one.

-x-X-x-

"Are you sure?"

"Yes.."

"How long?"

"Till you die."

"What do you even want?"

"To follow you."

*DING*

"Motherfucker."

'How would the mission to subdue a Dragon King or higher entity be fulfilled unless you… Hehe.'

Samuel sighed, sitting on a bed, back hunched and arms on knees. The room he was in at the moment could be summed up in one word, the typical mediaeval inn room for rent. Wooden floor, wooden walls, a bed, a table of sorts and a cabinet for clothes... probably.

Ophis sat on the ground, arms around her knees as she unceremoniously answered Samuel's questions. The Dragon God found herself confused at his behaviour, would she be troubling him by accompanying him? Well.... She wanted to though..... Did he not want her there?..... She was willing to lea.... No, finally, Ophis showed a bit of emotion on her face, the little girl looked ever so slightly hurt by what she presumed were his thoughts.

"I'm sorry." Samuel sighed again, she said something very vague that she herself probably didn't understand, it definitely wasn't something like he thought.

"Alright, bet." Echidna appeared on his shoulder again, something the two people in this room were already more than used to.

"Little Ophis, imagine Samuel just disappearing one day. What would you do?"

The Infinite Dragon God looked at the 'fairy' with a strange gaze, "Find him." Ophis answered as if it was the most obvious thing in the world.

"What if you couldn't?"

"Search harder."

Samuel could only observe the conversation in silence, he just wanted some sleep for fuck's sake. One thing after the other kept happening and ruined his day.

"And what if that didn't work either?"

"Get everyone to help..." Ophis answered in a calm tone, though there seemed to be something wrong, something neither Samuel nor Echidna failed to notice. The girl was clenching her fists.

"Hmmmm.... Sure seems like a misunderstanding right?" Echidna looked at Samuel with folded arms, a teasing smile etched across her face.

"Yeah it does. She's just feeling possessive over something she can call a friend." Samuel deadpanned, this witch was messing with his mind too much today, "She'll be over it once she gets more."

The silver haired teenager could only blame the Witch of Greed for not being able to realise something so simple sooner.

"Boo, you're no fun." Echidna disappeared, though the giggles echoing in Samuel's head made it more than apparent that she had indeed been 'fucking with him'.

"Yes, now good night."

..

...

...

.....

Not a few seconds had passed before the roof of the building he was in was blown away by a strong gust of wind and just as Samuel jumped to his feet, standing in front of Ophis as he turned around to face whatever the hell was going on now.

"For fuck's sake, let me sleep!"

The silver haired teenager growled at the unknown attacker.

"Hm, I'm of the belief you can get all the sleep you want once you're home." A voice Samuel couldn't forget, the Jade Emperor.

"Come on, leave me alone." Samuel just sighed in defeat, he didn't care if he was squashed to death anymore.

"I suppose I can, you did exceed my expectations after all." Okhwang rubbed his chin with a pleased smile, his eyes closed, he almost sounded proud of the teenager he was looking at.

Just as Samuel sighed in relief however, "But I am in a hurry so do understand. Oh yes, do attend the God of Highschool, I believe it to be a fitting stage."

Samuel wanted to give the Jade Emperor the bird.

Turning around in a flash, Samuel pulled out his phone from his pocket and generating a copy, which doubled as an invite, handed it over to a confused Ophis.

"Just turn it on if you want to talk to me. Adios." Samuel felt that Gods were really unreasonable existences and slightly glared at the Okhwang who only seemed to smile at him, as if he knew of his annoyance but didn't care.

Before Ophis could process much, Samuel had disappeared in a blinding flash of light.

"...." The Dragon God did as she had been instructed, pushing a button on the strange device her 'friend' had handed her.

=======

Do tell me if I fucked something up.

And, before you ask, yes, Runeas and Azazel will be added to the chat group a bit later on.
