Guilt must have had a stronghold on him for him to feel that way because after all, it was his fault. If he had not made her do the work for him. He was also angry with his mother for what she did.
She was the only person he could trust for the care of his friend and he got her injured as at the heat of the moment, he had forgotten what happened to all the women who were able to come in contact with him.
He also felt relieved that she did not die like the last woman who had mistaken poured a drink on his friend's jacket. The girl's body was found in the river bloated and disfigured that she was an unidentified body for a while.
With the way he heard the police talking to Lin Jing, he believed that the police also suspected that it was connected to him. She had kept it secret that she came in contact with his friend but those detectives will have suspected that.
He knew that it would have been to silence her because he could not imagine him becoming the suspect or the suspect connected to him. After all, his family would never let that happen.
That was the reason he came to warn Lu Tian because he knew the law would not be powerful enough to warn him not to talk of punishing him.
He was too powerful along with the power of his family to have them outwardly connect the crime to him. He also strongly suspected that the fact that her image was destructed was because of his family's intervention.
They made her into a pretty woman to remove every chance of her exposing him. Lu Tian's grandmother was a woman who would know anything about anyone when she wants to know.
It would not be difficult to know everything from Su Jie and she must have warned them to keep everything away from her son.
He told Lin Jing how Lu Tian wanted his treatment kept a secret so she would not tell them that she had him as a client because she would not want them to know he had an injury he had to recover from.
Lin Jing was also smart enough to know that she should be tightlipped about the matter when dealing with a family as powerful as the great Lu's family.
He was so confused and scared for her because if anything had happened to her, he would have blamed himself and called himself a murderer if she had died.

Lin Jing smiled at the two people that walked into her room after she told them to come into the room. They returned her smile although one of them was colder than the other.
She felt very awkward as she remembered what happened in front of the house of the one with the colder smile.
"Are you okay?" she heard his question and she looked at her leg covered with the blanket. Could someone tell this man that she would not be in the hospital if she was, okay?
"I guess I should leave you two alone. Try to get along oh," Mr. Shen told her before escaping as though he was being pursued with a gun.
"Thank you for coming, Mr. Shen," she welcomed him as she tried to make her smile less awkward and hoped it was working.
He sat down on the stool and looked at her with a smirk she found to be very charming as she was sure this man was not always busy with work but taking some time off to learn how to be that perfect man that makes ladies' hearts race.
She gave him her charming smile too as she did not feel her heart racing from that smile but believed that he must have done enough training and she wanted to him credit for that.
"I heard that you wanted a boyfriend to safe your neck," he told her in a manner that reduced the offense of what he was saying to her.
She smiled and nodded. "I need a boyfriend. I almost died because I did not have one. Your brother must have told you what happened."
"Yes, and I want you to know that you are not the first lady," he told her seriously. "It will be best you avoid him as best as you can."
"Yes, it is only right I do so. I have a sister and a father to take care of. You are his friend and an even closer friend to him than your brother is. Do you believe that I will not get hurt if I get close to you too?"
"Yes, my mother wants us to be together so I see no reason why anyone will be against it. Only if your father sends people to beat me up," he told her with a smile.
She was shocked to see him talk freely and jokingly. She did not know he could be so friendly as he has always looked stone-faced in the public and succeeded in making girls admire him from afar off but too scared to approach.
If landmines could be seen and they were attractive, you could call him a landmine. She swallowed and decided to take the new route ahead of her.
"Don't you mind that people believe I got beaten up by a client?" she asked him seriously.
"I don't believe that," he replied her sincerely. "I do not have a very good reputation either. A few people have tried to frame me for being abusive when I have never hurt a woman before."
She laughed as she put together the puzzle pieces. She looked at his blank expression not noticing what she had put together from his words and hers.
"That will make a perfect match don't you think? People will surely believe that you beat me up yourself," she told him laughing when she watched his reaction as he slowly understood what she meant.
"Oh come on," he told her seriously shaking his head at the thought of it. "I will have people clean up what has been said about you. I will do it carefully but we will need someone to be blamed for that."
"You will be helping me seek justice if you help me tell the truth to the world and clear my name," she suggested with a smile that did not reach her eyes.
