Chapter 2

The Sack of King's Landing by the Lannister forces became famous due to the amount of innocent blood spilled. Despite the capital surrendering peacefully, Tywin Lannister ordered for the city to be sacked and burned, leading to multiple atrocities such as rape and massacre of the residents of the city which are not limited to smallfolks but also to the highborn who were caught in the crossfire or Targaryen loyalists. By the time the rebels and their Alvan allies arrived, King's Landing was flooded in blood, tears and ashes of the residents, both Eddard Stark and Crown Prince Artorius Ambry increased their pace to resume order and peace and justice back to the city. When they arrived at the throne room of the Red Keep, the Mad King was lying dead at the foot of the throne while Ser Jaime Lannister, a Kingsguard, sat on the Iron Throne with a bloodied sword clutch by his hand. This is where his infamous title "Kingslayer" was given to him by Eddard Stark. Before the Stag King arrived, peace and order was returned in King's Landing with most of the Alvan soldiers facilitating and observing the law, with small trials held to punish those criminals, mostly Lannister men and some brigands and thieves, and bringing justice. The prolonged presence of foreign troops and ships in Westeros have caused increasing tensions, especially to the Imperial and Republic soldiers and officers who still do not withdraw from Westeros, clear losers in the war.

Tensions have also increased between Dominion soldiers, who are preserving order and peace, and Lannister men, who are being in trial for multiple accounts of rape and murder, within the confines of the capital. With the new King Robert Baratheon marching to the former Targaryen capital, occasional fights between the Blackguards and Lord Lannister bannerman, Gregor Clegane, have erupted and caused casualties on both sides albeit heavier on the Westerlander side. The brutal murder and deaths of Elia Martell and her children, Princess Rhaenys Targaryen and the infant Prince Aegon Targaryen, have caused a fight between the newly crowned Robert Baratheon and Eddard Stark, with the former gleefully calling the dead children as simply dragonspawn with hatred and the latter seeks justice be given and famously dropping his words, "Would you be a king of a fractured realm or a king of a united one?", the Stark Lord also criticizes the Old Lion's decision to come out of his Rock. The Alvan Prince in the meantime has tried to convince his cousin for Northern independence since the time of the Dragon Kings have ended and that includes their oath of fealty.

When Prince Doran Martell received the news on the brutal deaths of his sister, niece and nephew, he sent letters to his bannermen that Dorne will be declaring their independence once more and will closely ally themselves with the Republic, even sending his younger brother, Prince Oberyn Nymeros Martell, as envoy carrying his words to the Conclave of Princes to the capital city of the Rhoynar nation. While Eddard Stark is at Dorne looking for his abducted sister and returns with a babe, whom he claimed as his bastard child, in his arms alongside the bones of his sister, Lord Stark completely bypassed King's Landing refusing to attend his friend's wedding to a Lannister bride. Prince Artorius has finally convinced his cousin to finally announce the Northern secession from the Iron Throne after his return from the south. Lord Connington's words rang true when both the North and Dorne declared their independence from the Iron Throne and with full support by their closest allies, the new Baratheon-Lannister alliance was caught off guard by these declarations and with realm still healing from the ravages of war they have a hard time of forcing these kingdoms back into the control of the Iron Throne.

With their newfound independence, both the North and Dorne have undergone rapid changes in the fields of economy, politics, military and society. In the case of the Northern Kingdom, they fashioned a new name for their kingdom and copied and implemented the various policies of their Alvan cousins. New ports and settlements emerged on the western coastline due to the protection provided by Dominion Fleet since the North's Western Fleet is still in the process of building. The Starks have also implemented a small semi-professional standing army that would be the core of the military should the North go to war, institutions for educating the young minds of lords and ladies, strengthening loyalty to the country and to the Starks before their own blood, new inventions and discovery that can and will challenge the minds of the long established accepted norms by the old maesters of the Citadel of Oldtown. With finances provided by both the Iron Bank of Braavos and the Continental Bank of Alvus, the North, now named Niflheim, entered a new age of prosperity that many said to be equal to their Alvan cousins and completely left the rotting system still implemented by the Iron Throne.

In Dorne, the Martells vowed to their bannermen and smallfolk that they will enter a new age of prosperity much like the northern savages of the Kingdom of Niflheim, whom the Northerners started calling themselves, but faced with adversity and challenges. Unlike Niflheim and their ally, Alvan Dominion, the Rhoynish Republic dreamt of a unified Rhoynar nation which is still being pushed by the Conclave. House Martell and other Dornish Houses have reached an agreement: (1) the Republic and Dorne shall not go to war with each other; (2) the Republic will defend Dorne should they be attacked, and Dorne must defend the Republic when they are attacked; (3) a representative of House Martell must be present at the Conclave of Princes; lastly, (4) priority in trade and commerce when Republic or Dornish ships passes through the Stepstones. The remaining kingdoms under Iron Throne have decided to increase their trade with the remaining power in Essos, the Sarnori-Lhazareen Empire, for the new Baratheon line of Kings have realized that they are alone and without an ally since the Republic and Dominion have carved their own foothold and spheres of influence in the continent of Westeros.

In the year 298 AC (in Westerosi calendar) for the first time in history, the Alvan Dominion sent invitations to the Kingdom of Niflheim, Principality of Dorne, Rhoynish Republic, Sarnori-Lhazareen Empire, and even to the Five Kingdoms of Westeros and the remaining Free Cities of Essos and Golden Empire of Yi-Ti and Summer Islanders. The meeting will be hosted by the newly ascended Emperor Artorius V Ambry to establish a new order and establish contentment on long disputed borders between various factions. The Greyjoy Rebellion coincided during the negotiations and talks between the leaders and rulers of the invited empires, kingdoms and free cities, which prevented King Robert Baratheon and his Hand, Lord Jon Arryn in participating in the summit. Though the Greyjoy Rebellion was a short one, the damages to property and lives are massive especially to the affected kingdoms of Westerlands, Reach and Riverlands have suffered from Ironborn reaving and pillaging and killing. Surprisingly both, Dorne and Niflheim are unaffected because of the latter's active hunting and sinking of ironborn ships entering their waters and coastlines and the former's heavily patrolled coastal regions. Dorne may have ignored the call of aid from the Iron Throne, while the Niflheim fleet carrying soldiers gave aid and protection to the Riverlands due to King Eddard's wife Tully origins.

Despite the Ironborn rebellion occurring in Westeros, the meeting that Emperor Artorius arranged has proved to be successful and vowed to make the meeting annually. The Iron Throne has formally accepted that Dorne and Niflheim are completely lost to them and focused more on controlling the remaining kingdoms, the Iron Islands have suffered a catastrophic damage to their already small population and the control of the islands are split between the Riverlands and the Westerlands. Robert Baratheon has decided to visit his old friend after his foster father, Hand of the King, Lord Jon Arryn, died of sudden illness. The eventual royal visit of the Stag King to the King of Winter will shape the future of Westeros in the coming years.
