I knocked on the door and waited for a few seconds. But there was no response. I looked in through the window.

What greeted me was the sight of Tsubaki talking about something with Hephaestus and sounding really tired.

She was a bit surprised when her eyes locked into mine. But the surprised expression turned into a grin a moment after.

I did not like that.

I could hear her say in a voice for me to hear as well ''Look. I'm sure the rumors about the middle floors were

not related to him at all. He is a well-behaved person, right?''

'Oh my god, this bitch.'I facepalmed.

Hephie looked a bit more distressed compared to before. Shit. I can't have her fan the flames even more.

I knocked on the door, and the traitor at least had the decency to open the door this time. I walked in as if I didn't hear the previous conversation.

When you feel like you are going to get chewed on by women either way. The only way to reduce it is by controlling the pace yourself and calming down. As long as your partner isn't some entitled retard, they are going to calm themselves down when they see you chill.

'Well. Maybe when the news isn't about your potential death.' I thought with an eye twitch.

''Hey, Hephie. I've missed you.'' I said as I drew closer to her spreading out my arms out. She didn't respond and only gave me a pointed look.

I didn't relent tho, I kept my arms spread out for a few seconds and gave her a fake hurt look. After a few seconds, she just sighed, got up, and went into my arms.

As I and Hephie were hugging, I gave Tsubaki a massive smug smile. She just tsked.

'Trust me Tsubaki. I will get you back for this.'

We sat down, and the atmosphere was noticeably a lot better, but there was still this vague tense air.

''I'm ready for a level 3 Hephie,'' I said hugging Hephie next to me. I also looked at Tsubaki just for some petty revenge.

She seemed plenty shocked for her part. Even Hephie was surprised.

''Again you bastard?!''She shouted in trepidation and I just laughed out loud.

''So how was your dungeon dive Ken?'' Said my goddess lover with some hidden tension in her voice.

I coughed ''It wasn't too bad really. Just another dungeon dive is all.'' She wasn't buying it going by the look she was giving me.

''So what happened Ken? Did you have anything to do with what was going on the middle floors?'' She said again.

''I just told you that I reached level3. That should take precedence.''

''You're more important than some level-up Ken.'' She said seriously.

'Touché.'

''I don't know exactly what you are talking about. BUT, there MAYBE were two BloodHives and I had to blast them, and that dealt a lot of damage to the dungeon. And that MAYBE lead to a monster rex spawning, so I had to fight it to death, and that fight caused a lot of damage to the dungeon as well. And MAYBE a group of people tried to kill me so I retaliated back?'' I said in an innocent voice.

''BUT this is of course all hypothetical really. So I didn't have anything to do with that.'' I said in an obvious tone.

They surprisingly didn't look that shocked, but there was a strange silence going on, that had even more of an effect.

''So you're telling me you dealt with a rex on the 24th floor. YOU, a level2?'' She said incredulously pointing at me.

''Cmon Tsubaki, is it that surprising? You're acting as if you didn't see my status or something. My stats are just that good. My stat distribution also helps. My kit is also quite enabling.''

''I don't go to the dungeon blind. But, some unforeseen events can happen still. That's just how Adventurers live.''

''I have a feeling the dungeon is not really a fan of mine though.''

''I wouldn't a fan as well if I were the dungeon.'' Tsubaki said still salty.

''And how about the adventurers that wanted to kill you, you said? Have you seen to what Familia they belong?'' said Hephie in a very calm voice?

I shook my head ''I don't think it really matters Hephie, they are already dead. Besides, it was not the work of just one Familia. It was quite a decent force. They also didn't display their emblems around. I didn't feel like flipping their shirts and seeing their backs.''

''Well champ. They are saying that that 'force' was killed by the monster that appeared on the middle floors. I can only assume that was the Rex you killed.'' Said Tsubaki pensively.

''Let's just forget that, and get to the level-up.''

Hephie just rolled her eyes and tapped the couch she was sitting on. I took that as a queue to strip down and lay down.

''Well. I heard the Falna rewards hard work. When was the last time you heard a level2 killing a lvl5 monster rex?''

I grinned.

She just rolled her eyes.

''You even got the Mystery Development ability. I can count those who have it on one hand'' Said Hephie

''Any other ones?'' I said pensively.

''Nothing as impressive as the one I motioned'' She said.

''Just punch it in.'' I said shrugging my shoulders.

After some more talk, she went and left me and Hephie alone.

I put her on my lap. I could tell she was not used to the intimacy, so I just hugged her waist and let her feel comfortable. We spent a few moments there just enjoying each other's company.

''How about I stay here for the night?'' I whispered in her ear.

She just nodded, although I could see her ears were quite red. No doubt her face was lit as well.

''Tsk, Tsk. What are you thinking about Hephie? Could it possibly be something l-lewd?'' I said in mock embarrassment.

She must have realised I was just teasing her because she slapped my thighs as hard as she could. Unfortunately, that didn't hurt at all, yet I went along with her and acted hurt.

We went to bed together, linking hands.

Nothing happened that night. But, Rome wasn't built in one day as they say.
