Michael looks to Madelaine's excited expression. Michael speaks to her, "Sure, We'll be buying you clothes." He stands up as Madelaine and Mary stand after him. Madelaine looks at her dress as she spoke, "Why though? I think my dress looks fine though?"
Michael pushes the door open before he stops to glance at the two of them, Mary calming down a bit from the recent embarassment. Michael then spoke, "We'll be scouting our new competitors." Madelaine ruminates on his words before saying "So, we'll be a clothing store now?" Michael shrugs as he replies, "Not really, that'll probably be just the start."
Mary meanwhile stands behind him as she whispers, "Um, how exactly will this work against them?" Michael speaks out as he takes out three fingers, he lower a finger before speaking "First, we'll need a front or a base of operations." He lowers a finger, "Second, I'm going to need a place to funnel all my money through."
His expression turns grim as he looks at Mary, "And lastly, I'm going to need you to wear something better than that if you're going to stay with me." Mary lowers her head in embarrassment one which makes Madelaine squeal in excitement as she hugs Mary.
Michael then exits the door as his wrist lights up, a hundred gold coins appearing in his pouch. He looks to both of them and spoke, "Are both of you ready to go?" Mary meekly nods in contrast to Madelaine's excited expression.
Michael then starts and smiles as he thought, 'It's kinda nice to take to people again.' He holds his face as he feels the mask over his face, 'Then again, it isn't exactly me who they're seeing.' He shakes his head, an action which the two women notice. He then thought to himself, 'Showing my true face would come at a later date.'
Michael looks around as he walks, the fabric the peasants wore all seem to be linen. He then thinks to himself, 'That means most of the peasant clothes were homemade.' He continues to walk as he looks back to the two girls, "Madelaine come here for a second."
Madelaine hurriedly went to his side, after she does so he hold the dress in his hand. He looks to her in a questioning expression, "What's this dress made of?" Madelain shrugs, "I'm not really sure, mother gifted it to me. Something about father." Michael feels it closer as he mutters, "Kinda feels like cotton." Madelaine only tilts her head in confusion as she replied, "Cotton? Should I try to find it?" Michael shakes his head, "It's fine, I already got what I need."
They arrive at a middle sized store, he opens the door to see fabric and clothing for nobility. The human clerk looks at his and Mary's ragged clothing and assumes Madelaine's status as he immediately went up to her. "Hello miss, what would you need from our humble store?"
Madelaine glances at Michael who nods as if gesturing her to buy to her heart's content. She excitedly smiles, "Well, I'll be needing a few things." She then excitedly dragged Mary with her as she went around buying all over the store.
Michael meanwhile looks at the clothing displayed. He plays with one in his finger as he mutters, "Linen as well, huh." He continuously walked around the store as he inspected the design and material strength. He then thought to himself, 'Will a spinning mule make a better and stronger material though?'
Half an hour passes with him inspecting the clothes closer, the threading and its design are perhaps the standard of this time, which isn't much for a man that has seen modern clotihng. He then thinks to himself, 'The amount of time and effort one would put in a dress like this without a sewing machine is surely something else.' He then looks to the threads each one hand-made.
He smugly smiles to himself as he realizes, 'The amount of manpower I'll be needing to create something like this should be little, though the amount of equipment will take a bit of capital.' He then looks around, 'But where could I find some manpower to start?'
He sees the store's lack of customers. 'Maybe it's just not the time for it. But it seems this one seems to be failing.' He then watches as Madelaine tries on a different set of dresses. She smiles in joy as she looks at herself in the mirror. 'Then again, based on her excitement this doesn't seem like low-class items.'
He then sees Mary, who confidently stands, wearing a trouser and a long-sleeved shirt below a doublet. He looks to her, noticing her nodding to herself. The act makes Michael chuckle before he spoke, "It suits you well." Mary reddens as she looks back at him before she spoke. "Thank you, Sir."
He looks to the clerk, "I'll be having the same clothing as her." The clerk stops to look and only nods before gesturing him to stand for his measurement. The process took half an hour, mostly picking and trying the clothing. In the end, he paid up to a hundred gold coins, but the clothing and information he bought, was more than worth it.
They left the store, newly dressed. With Madelaine wearing a colourful dress and both Mary and Michael wearing their doublets and trousers. Madelaine happily skips beside Mary who grabbed her cheek before she could react.
Mary angrily whispers at her, "Do you know how much that was? You practically bought half the store," She then apologetically looks to Michael, who only looked amused "Sir Michael was more than generous for allowing us to buy," She pulls her cheek harder, which earns her a pained squeak, "But you seem adamant on abusing such generosity."
Madelaine was able to move away before she rubs her cheek. She petulantly spoke, "But, Sir Michael said, I could buy how much I want." Mary was about to retort before Michael cuts in with amusement written all over him, "It's fine, It's fine. I'll have Madelaine do important work that requires such clothes anyway. So I'm sure she can pay it back with a wonderful job."
The greedy expression from Michael was more than enough to give Madelaine chills. She then anxiously spoke, "Um sir what exactly shall I be doing next?" Michael smiles as he replies, "That'll be finding me, tailors and seamstresses."
Madelaine looks at him in confusion as she said, "That's it?" Michael smiles before he replied, "Well for now, anyway." Madelaine started to quickly walk before she speaks, "I'll be starting now, so let's meet each other back at your house SIr. Michael."
Michael looks to Mary and gestures for her to follow him, Mary nods as she quickly stands by his side. Michael then starts walking as he mutters to himself,
"Well, I better get started on those smithies I plan on buying."
