To the Capital (VI)

A couple of hours later.

The captain finished the reunion with this city's leader. It appears they have another mission besides escorting me and that was to contact the people remaining in this place, exchange information and make sure to collaborate with each other. It's not a bad idea after all, the best we can do in this scenario is to have more allies and be together.

They informed us that because of the constant attacks that occurred on the first day the people panicked and they found themselves living on shelters, churches and tall buildings, as a community helping each other.

Finishing the formalities the 4 of us gathered.

"Like I thought, they also received the encrypted message" said the captain surprising everybody.

We weren't the only ones that listened the transmission, that means that it was meant for everyone who could heard it. To every "chosen by the light". Maybe I'm one of them, and it seems I'm not the only one.

"I see. Then I won't lose any more time" I answered while I got up. "Thanks for bringing me here. You should go back and inform what happen to our home"

"But, will you be alright on your own?"

"Don't worry about me, you have seen what I can do, right? I'm more resilient than I look"

"You are a tough guy, or at least that is what you pretend to be. With that attitude I'm sure you will be alright, I wish you luck on your journey and make sure to come back in one piece"

The 3 military looked at me seriously and gave me a salute. Now their faces have a warm smile. It's strange that even though it only has been a couple of hours since we met it seems like we have gained a big trust, like we knew each other all our lives.

I turned around and waved my hand walking off. Mister kunai was there on my way waiting for me.

"You are going kid?"

"Yes. It's better that I take my leave the fastest possible"

"You are right. It's a shame that I won't be able to go with you, I can't just abandon this place and leave it unprotected"

"I know, that's why I haven't asked. Nevertheless I would like you to go with those 3 on the way back, I don't know if they are brave enough to return considering what they had witnessed"

"Okay, it's the favour of a friend after all. How could I say no?" said with a smile.

"Thank you very much, although sure it's no problem? It wouldn't be dangerous to leave this city without his guardian?"

"Don't worry, there is a couple more like us who will cover me. I can guarantee that in your home there are still some who hadn't awakened their potential yet"

It would be selfish of me to believe that I was the only one receiving this powers, it relieves me to know that there are more people on charge of protecting everyone else.

"I didn't thought of that, I hope you're right. Hey, a little question"

"Sure, ask anything"

"Why did you said we're users of light? Where did you get that term?"

"Oh that. A kid called me that way when he saw me in action. Pretty cool, right?"

"... I guess so. Anyway, thanks again"

"Good luck on your journey. I will be praying for your safety" said reaching out his hand.

"You too" I answered.

He got close and whispered something on my ear. Then he turned back and left. I kept on my way.

Leaving the city I went north, towards the capital. Sadly they couldn't get me a vehicle because of the lack of fuel. I appreciate the consideration anyway.

Starting my long walk I checked the bag that they gave me before leaving. Many water bottles and a few snacks that will save me from the hunger and thirst for some days. Along with a little tent and a sleeping bag that will let me spend the nights with some comfort. Finally a waist bag with some food at the reach of my hand.

Normally It would take me 3 days walking non stop to reach my destination, although taking in notice that I don't know what awaits me on this trip I can't be that optimistic. I hope a week is more than enough.

I put my backpack and started walking remembering the last words that mister kunai told me.

[Be careful with the hooded man. It seems he is like one of us, but something about him doesn't feels right]

I don't know what it means by that, anyway I will be careful. If he also is a chosen he will go to the capital. I must hurry, the other people can be in danger.

Thanks for reading chapter 3 of Unmei to Iu Monogatari. The road ahead is still long, and on the next chapter a very important event will take place. Look forward to it!
