Marissa's Test
Marissa dropped her cutleries and stared in Maggie's direction, unsure of what to say next. She could clearly see that Maggie was been snobbish even though her face was calm. She thought of making a joke of her situation to see if Maggie would laugh but she feared that it may end up backfiring.
Hence, she adopted the method of tongue lashing herself while seeking Maggie's empathy.
"Maggie please, I know that I'm undeserving of Ella's forgiveness. I know I've done a lot of foolish things in the past. I know I was selfish, jealous, and heartless in the way I treated your daughter. I know I could be egocentric and really shameless in my attitude. I understand she doesn't want to see me neither do you."
"Hmmm..." Maggie scoffed without raising her head up. She continued to eat her food while busying herself with her phone.
