It felt like an eternity, but I finally got some feeling in my body back. The first thing I felt was a soft and comfortable sensation on my skin. Like I was in a bed with the softest covers I had seemingly ever felt. I finally had feelings in my limbs but my mind refused to open my eyes at first. I could finally move my arms and stretch my legs after an eternity as an unwilling, marble statue. But as I was moving each leg to ensure it worked, something caught my attention. I slowly moved one leg, then the other…and another…and…another…Am I just bad at counting? After this, I was finally able to open my eyes. At that moment I would have preferred to have been bad math. As soon as my vision adjusted I was greeted with the sight of a large abdomen and six small, skinny legs. I pushed my body to a sitting position and was greeted with Two larger, arm-like appendages with large clawed tips. My body was a deep purple and I could sense a few extra eyes on my face. It was then I realized the situation I was in. I was a spider, and my bed was a bed of silk.
My limbs were shaking and my heart(s?) was pounding in my ears(?). Why did this freak me out!? I have no memory of what kind of creature I was before this, so what did I have to compare this to!? I was finally able to steady my nerves and the pounding subsided. After looking around I concluded that I was in a large cavern of sorts. That, or I was just incredibly small and the cavern was normal-sized. As I was looking around I noticed something floating in the corner of my vision. It looked like text, but it would evade me whenever I tried to look in its direction. I was on the verge of frustration when I stopped my futile efforts, took a deep breath, and started thinking of a new method. Instead, I looked straight ahead and tried to concentrate on my field of vision. After a few moments, I was able to make out what was said.
[Level 1 Arthro]
[Skills: None]
[Survival Chance: Low to None]
[Age: 5 Minutes]
Things became a little bit more clear. This place had a sort of level system, and I am one of the newest additions to this unknown land. What scared me the most was my chance of survival always being plastered in my view, taunting me and reminding me of my mortality in this world. It was then that I promised that I would prove that stat wrong. I would survive in this mysterious new land. And to start that journey, I had to get out of my nest and explore this cave. As I began pushing myself to stand my new legs began to shake under my weight. Judging by my age stat, this was the first time I used these legs. After a few wobbly steps, I got the hang of it and began my exploration of this cave and the start of my survival.
As I made my way through the endless caverns something stood out to me. There were no enemies or other living things. Although that sounds good for my survival, it only puts me more on edge. I had no idea if I was actually alone or if I would meet my end by an ambush and lose the game early. At the end of the tunnel were two pathways leading in opposite directions. I studied both sides and noticed something on the ground of the left tunnel. Footprints. They seemed human and there appeared to be a group of them going in that direction. The other path seemed devoid of anything living going in that direction. However, the right tunnel appeared to be the safer choice since there were no enemies in that direction. I felt more compelled to go to the left toward this party of unknown humans. But…Why? As I was questioning this instinct I suddenly heard a cry come from the left tunnel. A cry that felt familiar and…in pain? Before I could fully comprehend what I just heard my body immediately began bolting down the left tunnel as fast as my multiple legs could carry. Whatever that cry was set off my instincts and I couldn't say no to them. The further I went down the tunnel, it slowly transformed from a cave to a labyrinth. And at the end of that labyrinth was a sight that left my body frozen. An Arthro about ten or even twenty times my size was in the middle of a large room. Its body was pitch black and it had been impaled by several swords which made blood spill onto the ground around it. The sight of this fellow spider in pain made my body have a physical reaction. I felt sick and I didn't even know why! Who was this!? And who were they to me? As I was asking these questions, the Arthro finally noticed my presence and looked down at me. Looking into its eyes I realized who this was. I was watching my mother die.
