28. HOME SAFE

I woke up to a dimly lit room, again. I felt relaxed, perfectly recovered. I turned my head to my left side and found Ashton sleeping in the chair next to my bed, it really looked uncomfortable. I looked to my right side and found the room empty, except for Jack’s tab on the cyber-desk. I got up from the bed and walked to the desk. I took Jack’s tablet and tapped twice on the screen. Jack came around.

“Hey kid! You’re up”, he said.

His voice broke the quietness in the room. Ashton awoke with a start and quickly got to his feet. He got a head rush and quickly fell back on the chair. I got to him quickly with Jack still in my hand. I laughed at what had happened and kneeled next to his chair. I only realized then that I was in my pajamas. Who could have put them on?

“You’re okay?” I asked.

He recovered and looked at me with tired eyes.

“Yeah, I’m good. Just got startled by Jack’s voice”, he answered with a yawn.
