Chapter no.29 An Dreadful Situation

The Eastern Region of Dreamland was now a warzone, the landscape was nothing but a wasteland. The jagged mountains that once reached towards the sky were now nothing but rubble, and the sprawling forests that once stretched as far as the eye could see were now nothing but ash. The sky was dark and filled with smoke, and the sun was obscured by the thick clouds of ash that covered the sky. The sound of burning wood and the distant cries of animals filled the air, and the smell of burned materials and ash was thick in the air.

Xiao Long lay on the ground, his body covered in blood, his clothes torn and tattered. He had given his all in the fight, and his last breath was a sigh of relief. He had avenged his brother's death, and he was finally at peace. The sound of his breathing was labored and weak, and the sound of his heartbeats were faint and slow.

Debris was scattered everywhere, including broken pieces of tree and gravel, and other rubble. Several small fires were burning all around the area as a bleeding Xiao Long gazed upon Lin Lingtian's back. The sound of the fire crackling was the only thing that could be heard as the silence was deafening.

Lin Lingtian was standing there, his back turned to Xiao Long, his cloud armor was now dented and covered in ash, his sword was shattered, and his body was covered in wounds. His hair was disheveled and covered in ash, and his eyes were cold and emotionless. The sound of his breathing was steady and calm, and the sound of his heartbeats were strong and steady.

Xiao Long thought as he pointed his fingers at Lin Lingtian's back as a runic array formation began to form around his hand. The sound of the runes activating was like a song.

With the last bit of strength he could muster, Xiao Long launched a fireball onto Lin Lingtian's back just before it hit the turn and raised his hand up as the blade of clouds sliced apart the fireball and cleaving Xiao Long into two. The sound of the fireball exploding was like thunder, and the heat was intense.

'How unfair is this world? Why is it cruel to the weak yet merciful to the strong?'

Xiao Long thought as a tear escaped his eye as darkness began to engulf his mind. The sound of his thoughts were like whispers as the sound of his breathing and heartbeats stopped.

The sound of the wind rustling through the ashes and the distant calls of birds were the only things that could be heard as the silence was deafening.

...

Xiao Long found himself in complete darkness. He couldn't see his hand in front of his face, and he felt disoriented and disheartened. Suddenly, he saw a figure in the darkness and recognized it as his twin brother. The two of them turned to face a firey hell that seems to be beckoning them.

Holding each other's hands, the twins walked toward hell, their steps filled with determination and fear. The heat from the flames was intense, and they could feel it scorching their skin. They were filled with a sense of dread, but they also knew that they have to face this challenge together.

As they get closer to the hellish inferno, they saw the flames roaring and swirling, consuming everything in their path. They could hear the crackling of the fire and feel the heat of the blaze. They were terrified, but they also know that they have to push through this fear and keep walking.

Finally, they reach the hellish inferno, and they stand there, holding hands, as the flames engulfed them. They were consumed by the fire, but they also feel a sense of peace knowing that they faced this challenge together, as brothers.

.....

Lin Lingtian coldly gazed upon the bifurcated body of Xiao long before turning around to leave.

[ Warden's Office ]

Wong Fei sat at his desk in his office at the Boiling Bay Prison. The room was dimly lit, and the only light came from a lamp on his desk and the glowing end of the cigar that he was smoking. The sound of his cigar burning was like a lullaby as he puffed on it, savoring the rich, smoky flavor.

As he smoked, Wong Fei looked out the holographic window that showed him everything that was happening in the Dreamland array. The sound of the holographic window activating was like a computer booting up, and the sound of the holographic images was like a symphony. He exhaled a plume of smoke, letting it curl and twist in the air before dissipating. The sound of the smoke curling and twisting was like a dance.

"Go on." Wong Fei exclaimed as he listened to his secretary listing off an anti-dreamland array they had found used by the twin's Xiao Long and Xiao Fei before they had been killed. The sound of the secretary's voice was like a melody as she spoke, and the sound of the information being relayed was like a song.

Wong Fei glanced at the edge of the holographic screen as he wondered. The sound of his thoughts was like whispers. Just how did two unknown weaklings have in their possession an anti-array for one of the greatest array formations in the Murim world?

Wong Fei couldn't wrap his mind around it. The sound of his thoughts was like whispers. "Secretary Lee, who created the Dreamland array?"

Secretary Lee frowned as she didn't know how to answer that question. The sound of her frowning was like a sigh. Many rumors said that the Dreamland array was the inheritance of some old sect that had been discovered five hundred years ago, and many others claimed that it was the result of some top secret organization in the Murim Alliance that made the Dreamland array, but all of those were rumors that didn't have much evidence behind it.

"I don't know, Sir."

Wong Fei exhaled a plume of smoke as he exclaimed," The thing is that, I don't know much about the Dreamland array myself yet those two nobodies had an anti-array formation on them, why ?"

" .... "

Wong Fei exhaled another plume of smoke as he glanced at his quiet secretary.

" Go and have that anti-array formation examined. Anyone can make an array formation and call it an anti-array formation. What we need to know is confirmation if that thing is the true anti-array formation or not ?"

" Yes Sir, I will have the array examined by all of our array formation masters in hand."

" Good."

Wong Fei pulled out his cigar from his mouth as he narrowed his eyes at the screen that showed off a scene of two people washing up on the beach, their bodies battered and bruised from the rough waves of the ocean. They are both unconscious, their skin pale and looking cold to the touch.

The beach was deserted, and the only sounds are the crashing of the waves. The sun started to rise, casting a warm glow over the beach.

As the waves recede, the two people were left lying on the wet sand, their clothes and hair soaked and tangled. They were both covered in cuts and bruises, and there are signs of hypothermia setting in.

Suddenly a flame spared on Lin Lai's body as her eyes opened up.

She looked around the beach only to set her sights on Zhongli's unconscious body.

Mustering up what little strength she had, Lin Lai slowly crawled toward Zhongli's unconscious body.

( ~ Brush ~ )

The sounds of foliage swaying alerted Lin Lai as she looked to see Hu Li walking out.

Gazing upon the familiar metal ball in Hu Li's hand, Lin Lai felt a sense of dread engulf her.

' Oh no, this is bad.'
