You're The Best

Heavy breaths exchanged; panting could be heard through the deep exhales of two people exercising intensely in the morning.

Song Luli dodged a powerful throw from Long Jie.

"Good," he said, stepping back.

They decided to train just before work.

Song Luli threw one back and missed. When she wasn't paying attention, Long Jie tripped her, and she fell on her back. She gritted in a slight groan of pain. Long Jie then mounted her, trapping her beneath him.

Song Luli released a sigh of defeat.

"You're not thinking clearly," Long Jie said, disappointed. He was right. Song Luli couldn't think properly around him, and that's because she's felt overly conscious of him, and she needed to stop it. They were already married, and it shouldn't make a difference now.

Song Luli smirked. "I think that in this position, it's supposed to be the other way around," she teased. He was on top.

Long Jie's eyes darkened; he bent down close to her face. Song Luli felt his warm breath inching towards her. She then hooked her hand on one of his arms, trapping his bicep with the other. She wrapped her legs around his and using her body, she pushed him over, climbing ontop.

Song Luli then blew the loose hairs that fell from her braid, triumphing at her success. She managed to topple him over.

Long Jie smiled, snaking his hands from her thighs to her waist, slowly. Song Luli shuddered, bowing her head at the sudden, sensitive touch. She rested a palm on each side of his head, meeting his expression.

Long Jie sat up, capturing her lips and her eyes flew open. She parted her lips, allowing him to kiss her. Long Jie then flipped her over her again, pinning her arms above her head. He kept kissing her mouth, stifling the moans she wanted to make. He moved lower, opening his mouth, licking the sweat from her chin.

"Stop..." Song Luli said, embarrassed.

She felt Long Jie smiled against her jaw. He kissed her gently there, moving lower again.

Her chest began to rise and fall in shallow breaths; it was difficult fighting him off—mostly because she wasn't trying at all. She liked it. Song Luli caved in as Long Jie pulled her sports bra down, revealing her breasts. He took one of them in his mouth hastily, and Song Luli arched her back.

Long Jie picked her up to sit on his lap, and Song Luli wrapped her arms around him as he nibbled on her breast.

"Long Jie...we have to...go to...work," she murmured. He kept going.

"Please," she begged.

He removed his mouth after some reluctance. Long Jie felt like eating her up, but he knew that it was too early before work, although he wouldn't have any complaints about it. Song Luli, on the other hand, wouldn't forgive him if he made her late.

Long Jie let go, and Song Luli broke apart from him, fixing her clothes. She put down her messy braid, allowing her now wavy hair flow past her shoulders. Long Jie reached out to twirl a strand of her hair. "Your hair looks nice," he said.

Song Luli's cheeks burned. She glanced away and was saved by an unexpected phone call. She quickly went to answer it and beamed at the person who called her.

Long Jie stole some glances, as she spoke over the phone.

"I miss you!" he heard her say.

Long Jie arched a brow, wondering who she was talking to. She was smiling broadly, excited. He had never seen that side of her, and it made him worry. The conversation didn't last long when she hung up the call.

Song Luli turned around to face him. "Jie! That was Zhen. He told me to say that he sends his greetings and hopes to see us soon," she told him with a smile.

Long Jie inwardly sighed of relief. He should have known it was her brother that she spoke to.

Long Jie understood well how close she was to him, and since they both had gone separate ways due to their careers, it was no surprise that she missed him gravely. He hopes that they reconnect soon, knowing that she would like to see him very much.

"When your brother returns to the city, we'll invite our friends over to celebrate his visit," Long Jie told her.

Song Luli smiled. She tip-toed to peck him on the lips. "You're the best," she said, stunning him on the spot.

Song Luli walked away casually, leaving Long Jie to himself, a flush creeping on his face. Her effect on him had grown uncontrollably, and Long Jie wasn't good at handling things like this.

She took a shower, and Long Jie took one after her.

Song Luli headed to work with the final drafts she made. At work, she gave it to Lan Shufen, and they both spent the entire day doing edits.

"I've made an appointment to pitch it to one of the producers," Song Luli told Lan Shufen.

"Which one are you going with first?" he asked.

"The rebirth story," Song Luli said.

"Oh, yes. What is the title?" Land Shufen asked since the draft was named, 'work in progress.'

"Have We Met Before?" Song Luli replied with the title.

"Perfect," Lan Shufen said, inserting it into the draft. "We can spend the rest of the week on final edits and have it ready for the producer when they decide to pick it up."

"If they want to work on it," Song Luli corrected him.

Lan Shufen paused. "Why aren't you confident?"

Song Luli shrugged. "There's nothing wrong with a bit of doubt, but I feel like it would be a total flop. There's so many other films like this," she said.

"Yes, but they're all about some sort of family fued/love rival revenge. Yours is about a murder case; it has mystery and intrigue without the MC feeling betrayed by a former lover or a sister."

"You're right," Song Luli replied, still unassured.

"It's worth a try," Lan Shufen said to her. He was right.

Song Luli then thought of Long Jie. She wanted to succeed more in life than just being the wife of a multi-billionaire and inheriting an entertainment company. She wanted to earn what she's been given, and that begins with making something of her name.

"It's worth it," she replied.
