Chapter 30
“Sex?” Selati lowered his gaze, settled it somewhere near Aleledai’s chin, brow creased in thought. Aleledai stayed quiet, hands on Selati’s back and tracing the impossibly long line of his spine, far as he could reach. “I didn’t know humans had sex.” He sounded bewildered.
Selati was lucky, if that was the case. Every group of them seemed to have at least one that liked to take a Caniean into their bed, willing or not. Such was Aleledai’s experience. “We have half their genetic code, remember. Our reproductive drive must have come from them. As I understand, snakes are only sexually active sometimes.”
A rumble transferred between them. “I will take your word on snakes. None came down to the mines for me to witness their behavior. But what does this have to do with children?”
“How are Caniean made?” Aleledai asked instead. Finding out what Selati knew might help him guide his All in their conversation. See if he had heard more than Aleledai thought he did.
